[News] 'No Chance' Ravens Would Trade Steve Smith

43 posts in this topic

There isn't that much speculation. Its one guy Mr I Hate The Ravens Mike Florio who keeps pushing it,which has caused other journalist to talk about why dont we trade Steve. But every article always ends up coming back to his as the source. Mike Florio is such a chump, if you comment about it on PFT he will delete your comment, i already had 3 deleted. He's terrible when it comes to sports journalism. He's so terrible that he won't even update his post with the fact that Sr said he will retire if we traded him. Sad thing is Steve made that comment an hour before Florio's post.

So glad Steve set the record straight...... After what I read in the NFL website, I was a bit p.o.'d how they thought the Ravens should trade Steve back to Carolina, since that team was doing so well and the Ravens were not.

Thank you Steve for wanting to stay here to finish here, and whatever that may bring...... :)

That's what you call loyalty. We could be 1-14 and he'd go into week 17 fighting his tail off. What can you say about a guy like that? Words aren't enough. We appreciate you Steve and everything you do. Mad respect.

I really don't get this mentality. It's not just journalists that're putting this out there. After a few of the last losses Ravens fans have themselves said we should trade SSS. And not just because we'd be able get aomething of value in return, it's like this depressing, self-flagellating attitude. Kind of like "we're so terrible, we're not worthy of having these 'by-any-means-necessary' type of playmakers. But it's precisely because we lack more playes like SSS (like a Sizzle) that we're in this perdicament in the first place.

We need to quit it with this self-pity loser talk.

I think the talk was more in Respect Of SSS. That he's worked so hard during his career, that he deserves to be on a playoff contending team during his last year - that's it. Of course the Ravens want him on their team, but the man does deserve a Ring. Love him even more now though, knowing he wouldn't even leave given the opportunity to play with a team that will most certainly make the playoffs this season.

Good - that settles the discussion. We can stop hearing from fans who think we should trade him, even if the team gets nothing worthwhile in return, basically to be nice to him.

He doesn't want to leave, so that topic is now closed.

I looked at that one like this....  Carolina released him...  He didn't choose to leave Carolina... and after that mess last year??? There's no way he's going back there.  He was truly pissed off.

While it would be nice for Steve to finish with a ring, he's got a mentality that is largely missing from our culture. You finish what you start - no matter what. You have a mission and you see it through. Even when reaching your goal appears all but lost, you are committed to your original cause and you fight to the bitter end.

He may deserve a ring, but more than anything, he deserves respect. And to respect him is to grant him his wishes and let him play this thing out.

SSS does indeed deserve a ring. I am happy he is a Raven. He has real heart and he quickly became one of my all time favorite Ravens. I just wish some of the other players could have the same type of heart and drive SSS does. I rank his heart and drive right up there with the great R.Lewis #52.

SSS is a RAVEN. Period. End of story. Thanks SSS for loyalty to your team. Got nothing but love and respect for this man.

I think the Ravens should all have a ring not just SSS. Unfortunately unless we run the table (not gonna happen) that is not in the cards this season. I am sure the fans and players will breathe a sigh of relief with just one win right now. I don't really believe it will be this week (sorry) but soon. Go Ravens!

Nope! It was basically from those who gave up on this season and was discussing extra picks for next season. Then used it as rational for wanting the trade. There is no way the discussion would have gone so long just for SSS's feelings.

Im pretty sure Steve has better things to do than to search the comment section of the Baltimore Ravens website for praise. It is facinating that people on this forum write statements as if the ball players are listening.

don't really care. I'm sure he doesn't ..just leaving a positive gesture- it was a mere formality and I was speaking for Ravens nation as a whole. Edited by January J

January J is just stating his/her opinion, which ALL of us do, what's the big deal with attacking what was posted ?? We all also know players have better things to do than to check out these forums, but there is not a thing wrong with what he/she said.

When SSS decided to come over, the Ravens were up and coming. I doubt he would have made the trip if he knew things would get this bad. One thing for sure is that Steve will go down as one of the all time greats.

trade SSS?????????? thats just not smart -this isnt baseball or hockey where teams mortgage little to get a rent a player for one season - FB dont work like that....who would give away a 1st or 2nd or even 3rd rd pick for a player who has 9 career games left? Especially when it may take him a week or two or three to learn the system and become acclimated to his new team? Cmon

If we trade SSS, who is Joe going to throw the ball to? Yanda?

The same place he throws the ball to every night. The opposing defense!
