[News] Ravens Secondary Cautious Of Cardinals' Big Plays

51 posts in this topic

Let's just acknowledge that Fitzgerald will get his and hope that the Secondary can, at least, tackle to stop YAC.

Let em fly!   :D

my personal perspective on the matter is the defense is playing TOO cautious. We need to get right up on the line and smack em in the mouth. Play like theres no tomorrow. Our secondary is so far off of the receivers they have plenty of room to run the short routes and if they run a long route we stand there waiting on them and they are at full speed when we decide to turn around and run with them.

We need to invite Ray and Ed back to M&T to give a crash course on how to prepare and study.

Why all the skepticism on this thread? Ozzie built us a deep team that can withstand injuries and bad FA signings, we will win this game.. oh wait.. we're not built like other teams like the Pats, Packers, and Seahawks who can withstand these bad FA signings/ unproductive drafts-- we haven't done that in the past five drafts- never mind.

Just to give you an idea of how bad the Ravens secondary is.......against the Ravens T.Smith and Boldin combined for 198 yds., against Seattle they had 39 yds and T. Smith had ZERO. Against the Ravens, Kaepernick threw for 340, against Seattle, 124 yds.

I expect, being real, that Palmer will throw for over 450 yds. against our secondary. They won't have to run the ball. It will be Brown and Fitzgerald all night long, dinks, dunks and bombs away. Pees, come Tuesday morning will say that the Ravens just have to keep practicing their few simple schemes. "Schemes" seems to fit into the vocabulary of kinks, retooling and hammering out the dents. This season because of piss poor management and coaching, will not rise to conquer.

With 99 out of 100 professionals picking the redbirds....This is the type of game where we actually show up and win.....and we own the cardinals....just like we owned the browns-9ers-raiders............

So I guess what they're saying is, we can expect our guys to be 20yds of their man!

That's worked out for us in the past so sure, let's do that again. It's much better to give up 10 plays for a TD rather than just one or two plays before they get one. The points are lighter :-)

For all of the negative opinions on Pees and his schemes on this board (mine included), you have to wonder what the dbs are really thinking while they're talking to the press about how much better they themselves need to be.  Like maybe; can we please get a new dc. Please?

The only hope this game has is if we match them in points and somehow have a call or two go in our favor.  Not likely, but would be nice.

I could see the Ravens getting up for a prime time game, even away (aren't they usually?). If I thought there was some miracle cure for our defensive woes, say a new coordinator or some superstars coming back off of injury, I might seriously entertain the notion of the Ravens ripping off 8-9 wins and sneaking into the playoffs. Reality tells me to take this season with a grain of salt, and prepare to re-load with a motivated Ozzie armed with a high draft pick and $20M in additional cap space.

The Ravens' secondary should be equipped with bullfighter's capes they can wave gracefully as the receivers fly by. Prediction: at least one Cardinals receiver will catch a TD pass without a Raven DB closer than 15 yards.
