[News] John Harbaugh: Crockett Gillmore Could Be 'One Of The Best'

47 posts in this topic

I love Gillmore's fierce attitude. Gillmore has the physical ability, desire, work ethic and confidence to become 1 of the best TE's in the league. No doubt in my mind that Crockett has only begun to show us what a monster player he will become.

Remember when everyone was upset when we drafted this guy at the end of the 3rd? Now we are ecstatic that we got him where we did. Crockett not only has the frame and athletic ability to be a beast, but he has the mental aspects that could make him great. I love Crockett, and not only is he one of the best blocking TE's in the league, but I also think he could be a top 5 receiving TE in time. I honestly just want Pitta to retire. We are paying a ghost 6-7mil a year, which could be enough to pretty much re-sign Osemele. Yeah he could come back in 3 weeks and play well, but we have 3 young TE studs. We don't need a fragile high paid TE. I think the only reason Pitta has been around as long as he has is because Joe Flacco is his best friend. Pitta got a ring and over $10mil playing with us. It is fair to let him go.

At least Courtney Upshaw won't draw big money this offseason. He will stay with us as our run-stopping specialist for an affordable price. We need to draft a Suggs heir this year.

"Gillmore's play has made Pitta a luxury." I would think he has to prove he can stay on the field before he is anointed as making anyone a luxury. Right now, Gillmore is just coming back after missing several games, Williams is back out again and Boyle is the only one who has been available every game this year. I think that hardly justifies the statement that Gillmore is a starter who makes Pitta a luxury. Except for the first game of the year we haven't had a full contingent of TE's on the field causing the team to resign Reuland to the practice squad. I think you are a little ahead of yourself on this article and need to rethink your premise.

Gilmore was very durable last season, and he had a tough break with that calf injury, but he came back about as fast as one can from that injury and probably played with a lot of pain last week.  Gilmore is a tough dude.

Oh my God....look I'm a harbaugh guy, but I'm sick and tired of him hyping these players up. Crockett is really good. But let him get there first sheesh

I think in a few years time, Crockett Gillmore will be one of the elite TEs in the league and will be a great reason Flacco makes the pro bowl! Just the way he plays and catches the ball in traffic tells you he is a stud in the making and boy are we glad to have him with Pitta out. His confidence and his ability and his toughness will make him our best offensive weapon period. Mark it down.

I got Crockett's jersey for my birthday 2 weeks ago, so I KNOW he will be awesome!! This will compliment my continuing collection of great players, #52, #20, #92, #55, #86 (Heap), #5, and #82 (Smith)....... :)

Gillmore has played well and hopefully he starts 100% of snaps for us against Arizona. He has shown playmaking ability and we need that against the Cardinals. They have Peterson on Smith and I bet Steve only gets 6-7 catches at most because I have so much respect for Peterson but I also have respect for the future hall of famer Steve Smith to make some plays. No other wide receiver has the ability to do anything this season. So what do we do? Lean on the tight ends. Crockett, Williams, and Boyle are key if we are to win Monday Night and I do think those guys have the speed, strength, and playmaking ability to be huge but they have yet to do so. Time is now the season is almost halfway over.

Heavier than Upshaw? :o Wow. Crockett is awesome. I like the confidence. I remember him saying last year that he's primarily a blocking tight end and then later claiming he said so that he'd get extra snaps and extra looks, which he did and that his purpose is to own the position. You've got to trust a guy who's got so much faith in himself and is willing to back up his talk.

After Gillmore plays out his rookie contract and leaves as a free agent because the Ravens don't want to pay him, he'll probably become an excellent TE.

Boyle is the next Crockett, drafted as a blocking TE, but has shown ball skills....Sleeper TE, who will probably get his chance with another team down the road, with Crockett and Maxx as the top two TE's, it will be tough for him to get snaps....

Yes, the article was a tad bit ungrateful. Pitta helped get us to the Super Bowl for cripes sake. I do like Crocket tho, but he needs to see more snaps to see how he does in a longer term evaluation before absolutely concluding as such article written here. I hope he does well.

I really wanted us to draft Diggs at the end of the 4th round. I was surprised he even fell that far, and now he is lighting it up. He would have been an awesome #2 WR for us right now, and in the future next to Brashad. Oh well. Hopefully Tray Walker develops and gets his confidence up and becomes a star in a position where we are in dire need of another one.

Brown is on the field a lot because he's the best run-blocking WR outside of Steve... I luv Marlon... but he's making it harder to defend him when he is not showing up other than on running plays... he's always getting praises for his run blocking by the commentators at least once a game.. and Steve points it out when he throws a block so he can have run after the catch for a big gain.. I do agree that Crockett should be more involved in the game plan... I think he's shown that he can attack the seams on the field...

One thing that stood out on the Flacco Hail Mary pass at the end of the loss to the 49ers was that Gillmore was wide open coming up the field behind the play with everyone already deep in the end zone. I know that it would have taken an incredible pass and tons of luck to complete it, but what if we didn't just heave it up for the shortest receiver on the team?

Great plan, except that we have a QB who locks his eyes in on one receiver, staring him down, tipping off every defense. He doesn't seem to be able to find open receivers. Get some pressure on him and he freaks out. Then everyone complains about the OL. Yeah, right.

Gilmore has the fire, I can tell he wants to be great. Flacco will learn to trust him more if he consistently makes the tough catches. There have been a few TDs left on the field this season by our receivers.

I saw the exact same thing. He was about 10 yards or so from the end zone but he was wide freakin open. I would've took my chances and thrown it to him, he probably would've bulldozed anybody that got in his way with the game on the line, I was literally yelling at the screen for him to hit Crockett.

This guy is the future. He hasn't put up the numbers yet to prove it but the eye test just tells you he's something special. He's only 3 1/2 games in this year and already I've heard dozens of comparisons to gronk. We need to get him more involved.

I don't blame him one bit but Had he just held onto that ball week one against Denver the whole season might have played out differently and he would probably be more in the national spotlight. However I'm glad he's still under the radar and kind of our secret weapon.

Im putting the hype train in the low down.

He had one game that was close to 'ben watson' like performance of last week. Other than that, was irrelevant.

Show us some consistency. That you are a weapon at every game. T

Ya' know....  It doesn't happen with every player...  only ones that think they are worth more than they actually are.  There are only a handful of those players that have gone elsewhere and really soared.  Most tend to just disappear.
