Troll Joe Flacco Article: A Bleacher Report Special

I think the title says it all. I may be treading into dangerous waters here with a Joe Flacco thread, but this article is just... really poorly written.

Firstly, the writer is the NFC East lead writer, so I can't imagine why he wouldn't pay avid amount of detail to the Ravens or their situation and purely look at the stats.

Secondly, backtracks on himself. For example, at one point the author says the Ravens aren't surrounded by scrubs, but then later says that the next leading targets on the team behind Steve Smith Sr. are some dudes named Kamar Aiken and Marlon Brown. Wait... not surrounded by scrubs... some dudes... Yeah, I think you get the point.

 

His receivers look like this: 36 year old, UDFA, UDFA, UDFA, Trade Target. And I respect Crockett Gilmore, but he's disappeared so often it's not even funny and he's still more of a blocker than he is a super nuanced receiver. Behind him are two rookies. Gee, no scrubs in that group...

 

It's just a Super troll article to me. Sure, it's really easy to separate out the 2012 Super Bowl run and try to make it seem like an anomaly, but when you consider that Flacco's TD:INT since 2010 is 6:1, it's unfair to really pull out that particular run. Even if you take out 2012, Flacco has 13 touchdowns to four interceptions since 2010 in six games. That's really respectable in the playoffs. Not to mention he pretty much also doubled his yardage in those years.

 

I also like how the author mentions drops, but fails to mention how crucial some of those drops were. Such as Steve Smith in week one and six to account for three dropped touchdowns and week two when he was unable to secure a surefire touchdown. Quality over quantity every single time. It's also really convenient to not mention that Flacco had James Hurst protecting his blindside for four games and that Forsett really pretty mediocre outside of two games against two porous run defenses. 

 

I don't know, have fun with this one.
