Week 7 Discussion (Other Teams)

Yep, that was in 2010.

To be fair though...Indy had a better record than us in 2012, and we got to host them in our first game of the SB run.

Well, even though a reseed in in that case would've gone against you guys, the colts had a better record I guess (I can't Remer that one).

Anyway, I don't think it would be necessary for a reseeding if it wasn't becoming frequent for poor division winning teams to get in. But, alas, it is.

Btw,, good luck tonight guys.

If there were different rules for seeding and venue, that might have changed things that season. For instance, we would have tried a lot harder to win our last game of the regular season if we were playing for home field. Obviously, things could have only gotten worse for us considering we won the whole thing (think Pitt losing Bell in the last game last year playing for home field even though they were already in), so I'm glad things went exactly the way it did that season.

The #Lions are firing OC Joe Lombardi, source says. They are also firing their OL coaches

Have a feeling Caldwell will be fired at the end of the season and this is a desperation move.

I've been thinking similar to this for a while. It's becoming more frequent that a team gets into the playoffs with a poor record due to winning a dumpster division.

NFL is cyclical, so it seems that there will often be a division that is very poor. In just the past few years, AFCS,NFCS,NFCW has been awful (we're getting to "back to back" seasons now with the NFCS and AFCS).

I'm for re-seeding the playoffs. But, I think they should still keep the playoff qualifications intact. Keeping divisions and division rivalries is important. However, they could change the "automatic home playoff game" for a poor division winner and make them go on the road.

Example:

- Division winners still automatically qualify

- 2 non-division winning WC teams still qualify

Options:

- Seed the 6 qualifying playoff teams by record (naturally, the good division winners will still seed over the WC teams, most likely)

- OR,, if a WC team has better record than their division winning opponent (ex. Colts 8-8 vs NYJ 10-6),, switch venues of the game. Make the Colts go on the road to NYJ,, I don't think that would be a very big deal.

Seriously,, any given year the AFCN could have an 11-5 / 10-6 team as a wildcard. That is still a very good season. Just because the Colts won their division, doesn't mean they performed better or had the better season. Reward the better team with home field advantage for that matchup. I don't think that would be too much to ask. It wouldn't even change the playoff format greatly.

It is getting "sickly" watching a division winning team get an automatic home playoff game after they have been a mediocre/poor team most of the year. Give them their playoff spot,, just make em go on the road.

Sry guys,, rant over lol.

That's a change I could get behind (I know, spoken like an AFCN fan). The play-off system isn't as bad as some make it out to be, but a few tweaks wouldn't be remiss and that's where I'd start.

Yeah, I never really seen Caldwell offense work well recently. Besides our playoff run in 2012, I don't think our offense was lightning. To be honest I wasn't upset when Caldwell left.

Possibly. Trying to remember the last time I saw I game that was very well played on both sides. Might have to go back to 2013 even.

How about Superbowl 49...  ?

Eh, the defense wasn't great in that game. They came through at the very end, but only after letting the 49ers come back when they were three scores down.
