The Joey Bosa thread

Who is horseface??lol Bosa does look awesome. Have not watched the bowl game yet. Still waiting on that. But damn does he generate a lot of torque out of his stance or redirecting. He needs to show a little more suddenness(although he does show twitch) and moves. Because as of now he is a better run defender. Not sure yet he could play rush LB. He looks slightly stiff but no big deal and not really sure but it could just be a technique thing. Combine will be important for him. As of now he looks between Jared Allen and JJ watt. But needs to show allens savvy. Carl Lawson could be a better fit because of ravens system. Similar to Mack being a better fit than Clowney.

Elway. I thought it was funny that I immediately remembered his name as Horseface and not Elway. It honestly took me a few. I could've edited it but I chose not.

Yeah. I agree on all accounts. I really like Bosa but I just don't know how he'll do as a rush LB. That wouldn't prevent me from taking him but I think I'd still want us to take another OLB.

I think Bosa can be a great OLB, but could possibly be an elite 4-3 DE, at this point I'm banking on Stanley being there for us. I think he could be our guy with the way things could set up.

I think Bosa's best comparison is Ryan Kerrigan. I definitely think Bosa would be better suited in a 3-4 at OLB than a 4-3 DE.

I think Bosa will function best in the 4-3

I concur, he's far more comfortable getting after the ballcarrier than having some coverage responsibilities as a true 3-4 OLB.

Bosa isn't big enough to play SDE in a 4-3 in my eyes. I think his athleticism would be better suited in a 3-4. Pass Coverage isn't a huge deal for a 3-4 OLB, look at Suggs.

Bosa's hips are too stiff.

Too tall and not bendy enough for me to be a 3-4 OLB

He's just not a fit for this team and he has a questionable attitude.

I'd agree he's not the best fit but I caution you in saying he's not a fit. You can find ways to get him on the field. Didn't people say Von Miller wasn't a fit as a 3-4 OLB?

I still stand by Bosa being a fit here because he's not going to be standing up on every play.  You can put him down on the line as a DE or 3T in nickel situations as well.  He's not stuck strictly as a 3-4 OLB with us.  Even if you draft him as such, with Suggs and Dumervil still in the fold, there's less of an expectation for him to know all of the nuances of the position right off the bat.  He's a pass rusher and that's what he does best.

I don't see why he cannot come here and develop as a stand up pass rusher. Suggs was a 4-3 DE and transitioned to a 3-4. Doom also came from Denver which at the time ran a 4-3 to here. I think for a rookie like Bosa, there will be a transition but he can certainly make the jump. Pernell McPhee was a converted DLinemen to an edge rusher if I'm not mistaken. The transition is not impossible.

I think we see Bosa go to Cleveland

Especially if Chip Kelly goes there. That would depress me no end.

Our best hope for Bosa falling past them is probably if they can trade Thomas before the draft and decide to take Tunsil or Stanley.

I agree that he could learn the position.  As stated he will not be stand up all the time.  We are in nickel a lot and he would be pass rushing from a 3 point stance on those instances.  Doom played in a 4-3 when he came here but also had experience in a 3-4 under Nolan in Denver.

Yeah I think them trading Thomas sets them up for one of Tunsil/Stanley

I hope we get Bosa. He's right up there with Tunsil for me. I have him slightly higher than Tunsil atm because I like the players behind Tunsil (Stanley, Duhl, Conklin...not sure why Conklin isn't talked up more) than I do behind Bosa. I like Ogbah, Ngakoue, Nassib, & some others, but I just think Bosa is more consistently disruptive.

I'm in on Conklin too.  I think he's a 1st round talent.  I think he gets forgotten since Tunsil and Stanley are the ones in the area of the draft in which we'll be picking, but he's a talented guy.

JJ was a converted DT. He wasn't an edge rusher, but he learned how to be a 3-4 OLB

Conklin has done very well in pass protection. I watched Michigan State quite a bit this year due to other games and he's probably one of the best players on their entire team and probably a top 5 LT in this strong LT draft class. You may need to watch him more. He's done a very good job against quality pass rushers

Agreed. I think he could be a Raven if we go in another direction in the first since he could be there in the second.

Good point there too. It wouldn't be impossible and I think edge rusher is where I want him to be in the future honestly.

Word. It's not a coincidence that Michigan State struggled when he was out with injury.

Yeah... this is why I don't like him. I really dislike his personality and I just believe there will be better options at our pick. He's overrated honestly. You guys won't agree with me, but I like Shaq Lawson over him.

Now I need this guy to say that he hates the top 5 teams and wants to be picked by the greatest sports team of all time aka the Baltimore Ravens.
