Ray Lewis' Take on the Ravens Struggles on First Take

101 posts in this topic

No one has said that the Ravens NEVER lost a game because they had "leadership".  This is the NFL teams win and lose with or without "leadership" that's a given.  C'mon now!  Smh!  Lol!

I'm the OP so call me by name.  I'm a big boy, I can handle it! B)

For some odd reason you seem to keep thinking that I'm missing some point that I know very well man.  So, while you can tout the injuries and missing pieces on offense and defense for the reason that the Ravens are losing (which I've never said wasn't a reason for the losses), you can not refute that there also (in conjunction with that) needs to be someone or multiple people on a roster that has the ability to be or become leaders of men in general!  Who is that guy that rallies the troops so to speak?  Who on the roster has the passion, relentelssness and intensity to raise the level of their own gameplay and in turn causes their teammates to follow their lead in doing so?  Again.... "WHO IS THAT GUY" going to be for this NEW GENERATION of Ravens?  That was Ray's point that you and others seem to be missing imo.

lol......'cmon Mili, I said OP because I don't want to argue with you.  And yes I know we need a leader(s) to step on defense and take the reins.  The point is that you and others infer that the lack of leadership is the main issue by NOT saying injuries and missing pieces on defense are killing them!

As others pointed out, even when we had world class leaders we had down times due to missing talent at key positions, and that is now the reason why the D is failing. That's all I'm saying.

First, this is not an argument Tank!  It's a discussion where we definitely disagree and that's cool! :D

I don't need to mention the obvious that players are injured.  That's a given we can all see that.  And once again, to me; it is not about whether or not we "won" games with world class leaders on the field cause we all know that we have also "lost" games with said world class leaders on the field as well.  It's football so that happens.  My point; is that with all of that being said....imo and view we still have a void of leadership on this roster...and...in the midst of the multiple injuries.... "WHO IS THAT GUY" on the roster (with this new generation of Ravens players) that raises their gameplay and in turn inspires their teammates to do the same with their own?  That's all I've been saying based upon what Ray has said.

All the great teams in the NFL have their "Leader" behind them that hypes them up. There are plenty of talented teams that simply dont have that fire behind them and they lose, Hence the Lions. Great talent...poor leadership.

90% of the reason the lions are doing poorly is because their coaching staff. id say we are right around that same figure, maybe more like 75-80% because we have a lot more holes at key positions.

but like ive been saying since week 1. its a coaching problem. our management is doing a poor job finding talent and our coaching staff is under utilizing the little talent we do have in the play calling. theres a constraint somewhere between the management and the coaching staff. and some people need to be replaced asap and get someone fresh in here that will get the job done right. whether its dean pees, marc trestman, secondary coach, WR coach, strength coach, someone in management, scouting.. something needs to be done differently.

Of course injuries played a major part in our issues this year. I certainly hope nobody thinks it didn't. The absence of anyone commenting on injuries doesn't necessarily minimize their impact nor does it mean those who neglect to mention injuries are blindly ignoring or disregarding injuries as a contributing factor.

With that said, just because injuries are a big problem on this team it doesn't make it the only problem. No, Ray Lewis isn't going to transform this defense, but I do think we could've won at least two of the five games we lost with stronger leadership.

That could be true, or not be true, who knows.  But I think it just as likely we win two more games(or maybe more) if we have an edge rusher opposite Doom, or another dependable CB, or safety.

Losing Suggs really has been a double whammy.  Something I've been wondering about.......Has he been on the sideline?  I haven't seen him.

Suggs was a critical loss, couldn't agree more. We lost leadership and a top impact player in him.

And I've been looking for him but I haven't seen him. He could be rehabbing. Maybe they locked the monster away and Dr Frankenstein is at work? Lol

Edit: and yeah, we probably could've won two more games at least with Suggs, but that's Suggs. He's the whole package that we're missing: leadership and skill.

yeah, IDK. If he isn't locked up in the lab(lol), it would have to help the young guys on D if he were out there spurring them on.  Kinda strange we haven't seen him.

And, I agree!  And notice what you said about Suggs here?  I agree as well with this statement and the one at the bottom that I'm qouting as well....

Awwww!  Now we are talking!  And, where was "The General" the Ravens bonifide and shonuff "leader"...Raymond Anthony Lewis when he tore his triceps and was unable to participate in a few games?  I'll wait Tank....lol! :D
