trading out of a top 5 pick

I don't think the QBs this year are that good.

They're really not. Goff is the only one who is worth a 1st rd pick imo and I'm not sure he'll be a franchise guy. Cook is way overrated. Hackenberg is a hack. Prescott will not be a successful NFL QB imo. Definitely a down year for QBs. That said, there's a good chance at least two or three of them go in the 1st rd. I just don't know if a team would be willing ti throw the bank out there in order to get Goff. Too early to tell.

I think Paxton Lynch deserves some credit in this conversation. He will likely be a top 10 pick. Goff I expect to go top 10 too, I do like him he has nice feet and they always seem to be moving which gives him some nice pocket mobility, I also do like the trajectory of his throws and how it comes out. To have two top 10 QBs in one draft who most would likely say deserve to be there is not that bad. I think QB always has a drop off after that so I do not see this year as really any different than most other years. After that is usually developmental anyway, Cradale Jones, Cook, Hackenberg all have potential starting qualities

If we have a top 3-5 pick and, depending on who's on the board and how many spots we'll fall, I'd trade back in a heartbeat if it meant a 1st round pick for 2017 & more. I don't think this draft is very strong, but I think it's okay. I'd love to have two first round picks for once without trading a future pick to get one.

I heard that in 2014, if Martin were on the board when the Ravens picked, the Rams were offering up a future first and their second to get Martin. Had this played out that way, the Ravens would have likely been much more keen on taking a receiver (Matthews, Robinson, Adams) and would have been able to get Todd Gurley in 2015. I'd be okay trading back, depending on who with.

Dont mind trading out of the top 10 either as long as were still within the first 13-14 picks. Could still get some serious ammo for next year and current. Along with our usual comp picks, Oz could pick up monroes replacement, Suggs future replacement, followed by a series of DBs and LB's that can help solidify the passrush and run game. Not to mentioned possibly another early round WR and C to replace Zuttah.

As I said in the other post: If we are picking top 5 we should clearly trade out, doing so would give us more picks, maybe even a future 1st if we play our cards right, and we would almost certainly still have a shot at one of the top DBs or WRs. As bad as we are doing we are not in any desperate need for a top 5 player, it'd be nice but we'd come out on top with a trade back.

we wouldnt have to play any cards right, trading out of a top 5 pick is gonna get you a future first lol

Have we had two first-round picks in the same draft since 1996 or was that the one time? Wouldn't mind getting two HoF players in the same draft again. :P

When we drafted Suggs and Kyle "The Legend" Boller, but we traded a future pick to do it.

If we did trade back and managed to get another first round pick next year that ended up being a top 5 and somehow grabbed fournette that would cement Ozzies status as the don of all Gms and his drafting ability would never be questioned again. GOAT hands down. It would be the perfect timing too bc forsett would be 33 and nearing the end of his contract. Oh the possibilities.

Ah yeah, it's happened a couple of times I'd forgotten about. Though Boller and Taylor were pretty forgettable. :P

I'm warming up to the notion of trading down. I think my primary choice is taking one of the elite talents up top, but if we could get a decent edge like Ogbah or Calhoun and some picks I'd still be happy.

We have so many holes to fill that we could use the extra picks.

In my judgement, I have to see who is available to make the call on whether we should trade down or now.  I think we end up with 6 wins and believe that will be somewhere around pick 8-10.  If there are a few of our top targets are still available then I'd be ok sliding down a few spots to help a QB needy team.  However if we have one player rated much higher than the others, then I think we should make the pick.

way too early to tell, id say when the combine results come out this would be a good topic to discuss, because we can see athleticism etc. But presently, if the draft was now, I would say yes. Trading out would be great because we have a lot of needs right now and one particular thing we need to start doing is getting young guys to learn under veterans like Sizzle, Monroe, Yanda, and Flacco. Earlier round picks are awesome so trading out for some more early round picks would be sweet because Ozzie always finds a gem in the mid to late round prospects. Main objective in my opinion, get younger everywhere. *except kicker*

even trading out to mid picks would be fine with me, Ozzie makes the right move every time. CJ went mid and he was a pro bowler lol.

I don't see us trading out too far out of the top 5. I think if we trade out of the top 5, we stay in the top 10. Who ever is moving into the top 5 has to be a team picking in the top 10. Moving into the top 5 from the Mid-teens or even higher is too rich of a price to pay. If we trade out of the top 5 we'll still stay in the top 10. I personally think we trade back and target either Ramsey, Hargreaves, Lawson, or get really lucky and find Stanley or Tunsil there.

I think Ogbah would be a good get, and I think you're right on how many needs we need to fill and stacking up on picks is the right way to do it, I would be disappointed if we traded down for Calhoun though.
