[News] Steve Smith Sr. Plays Through Back Injury, Owns Drop

38 posts in this topic

SSS departure next year will be felt way more than the loss of A. Boldin or T. Smith, better start looking for a proven receiver via trade because it is unlikely that even if we get a top receiver in the draft, it will take some time for him to fully develop.

Sadly it seems SSS is the only player on the active roster right now that plays like we played when the watchful eye of Ray, Eddie, Sizzle and Ngata were on the team. Leadership isn't just a few empty words in some pregame huddle or on the sidelines. Ravens leadership is about demanding that every member of the team play with a severe chip on their shoulder. The opponent is here to challenge your competence. They're here to challenge your manhood. They're here to debase you and make you fail in the pursuit of your livlihood. They're in the way of your glory. So play like they're in the way.

I don't think Bisciotti cares what other fans think, but it does matter to him what Rvaens Nation and its PSL holders think.

So it's up to all of us to grow up and decide... do you want a team of soft, 'clean' guys who'll ensure we have a dull offseason and stay out of the headlines? Or do we want to go back to the days where we risk a little risky business off the field, because we have guys on our squad that unleash the inner hulk n hoodlum when the whistle blows?

SSS is "literally" breaking his back for this team to win and no one else is barely breaking a sweat!  He truly doesn't deserve to go out like this.  SMH!!

I will be the first to point out the poetic irony of SSS putting the team on his back and his back breaking. Without SSS I dont think we could beat anybody this season.

Steve has a passion I think ALL players need to have to play here.

That's what "play like a Raven" means to me.

Ever since the CBA, it appears the players are doing far less for their money.

Everyone wants to leave the game Wealthy and Healthy so maybe they're starting to just impress in college, get that contract in the NFL, go through the motions here and there and avoid any serious injury then collect their checks and go home.

It would be nice if it worked that way but Football is a tough game, played by the biggest guys in sports and there are going to be injuries. That's why the paychecks are so big to play. So,

Either play up to your paycheck or maybe the paychecks should be lowered to match the play. It's just business!

SSS PLEASE reconsider and give us one more year. I know its frustrating because 90% of the guys on this team don't have the heart and sack that you have....BUT PLEASE, one more year. PLEASE?

Triple " S " shouldn't be playing I just can't believe Joe can't hit Marlon and Kamar on the field during a game! The commentators showed he didn't see Marlon across the middle against the Browns and he had the new guy Givens down the sidelines on another play! 120 Million excuse not to bench him and blame everyone else, these are facts and if he can't see WRs on the field what's the point of having him and throwing blame around unjustly! He makes the entire team look bad and gets away with it plus they must be scared to let someone else play because they will be successful! Matt would do good back there because all I see are INTS and unjust reasons why he can't hit certain WRs but Triple " S "!

These are "facts"? Joe is blaming others??? I've never seen him do that before.

Steve...bless your heart. you're such a nice person, tryna pretend you arent the only part of the offense that works in the secondary despite your broken back. lol

yeah you dropped a couple...but you're the only reason we were near the end zone in the first place.

i almost kind of wish that commentators wouldnt point out plays and what happens on them, cuz then people take that one play that they'd never have payed attention to otherwise and turn it into a far bigger deal than it will ever be.

"OMG, joe missed that one average receiver on that 4 yard drag route that wasnt really gonna get us anything anyway!! he's terrible."

let it go.

you wanna talk about all the things Marlon and Kamar are doing wrong? the two of them seem to have spacing issues, ive seen a few instances where the two of them end up in the same area as each other on plays...aint no body ranting and raving about that.

lol yeah man, Schaubs the answer. You think all your seeing is interceptions now, all you'll be seeing is pick 6's. You won't know what you've got until it's gone. Joe struggles at times bc his other receivers rarely get open and he has to force feed the ball to Steve.

Alshon Jeffries, will probably be available, but he has an injury history too. We don't have to tell Ozzie not to overpay. Please, no more senior citizens.

Why even spend money on a good receiver, he's either going to get hurt or play good and then go somewhere else. Face it, we are snakebitten when it comes to WR's.
