[News] Late For Work 10/19: 10 Takeaways From Ravens-49ers

145 posts in this topic

Any Ravens fan that is going to complain about the state of the organization or say it is lost season is out of their minds. The Ravens have been in the playoffs and won a playoff game for 6 of the last 7 years. We are fortunate to watch a great football team go out and compete every single weekend that are in close games down to the final minute in each of them. Bash Ozzie. Beat up on Harbaugh. And torch Pees if you want. Blame injuries and point to contract issues. The bottom line is we have been so fortunate to watch our team remain competitive for the last decade and even at 1-5 they are showing the heart and fortitude to stay in these close games all the way to the buzzer.

Want something to cry about? Talk to a Cleveland Browns fan about the last time they made the playoffs, or a Buffalo Bills fan about winning a playoff game. Sit down with a Detroit Lions fan, a franchise that has never even been to a Superbowl and cry to them how the Ravens are having a down year. It%u2019s football people. We watch these games because they are entertaining not because we expect to be in title contention every single year. The past 6 games have been nothing short of that. We have a bunch of spoiled band wagon fans that are throwing in the towel 6 games into the year. Good throw in the towel, and go ahead and throw your Ravens fan card in there while you are at it. I have no time for sore loser fans that can%u2019t handle a couple of losses.

I am so proud of this team and everything they have come through in the past 3 years. So many highs to go with the past couple lows and we will be giving Arizona hell next week I am sure. I love my birds from Baltimore and I will live and die with this team as long as they show heart and spirit out on the field week in and week out.

Jalen Ramsey

Yes we need some additude, leadership, and actual skill in the secondary. Its a sad day when your're not even halfway through the season and your already looking foward to the 2016 draft

That's the situation that we're in right now and I highly doubt this will get turned around. But Ramsey is very talented and can play corner or safety.

I think the problem is, we have been so use to being a winning team, that now that we get a taste of what teams like the browns, jags, buccs, and titans have been experienceing for years... a sorry and loosing team, we don't know how to handle it and now all the teams success is being questioned and doubted. Really! Clean house? 1 bad season and everyone needs to go and drastic changes need to be made. Pees does need to go, but other than him that's it. We as an organization need to tough it out, and to get back to the ravens of old, we need to make one good move, one good decision, one good trade, one good draft pick at a time. Be a fan through the ups and downs. We were a winning team, now we're a loosing one... But we'll be good again, hopefully by next season... We'll be back.

At what point does this season, become preseason, for next season.  We need to find out who can play in the NFL and who can't and what better time than now.  We MUST play the two un-drafted wide receivers, (I can't think of their names), to see if they are in our future.  Is Buck Allen in our future?  Let's find out.

I'm not suggesting John Harbaugh, Ozzie Newsom or Dick Cass get fired.  given how much success we've had over the last 7 years, of course I want them to stay.  I want them to get one more chance, next year.

I believe Ray Lewis should be hired as the Defensive Coordinator. He certainly would bring a level of fire that's been missing for a few years. Heck, bring back Ed Reed as the secondary coach as well....just saying.

A top 5 pick sounds better than making the playoffs right now. Look at it if this team somehow snuck into the postseason which will not happen. They will get smacked around. If you can't beat teams like the Browns, Oakland, 49ers you don't deserve to be in there. Next up is Arizona which will be another L. Looking ahead of the schedule Ravens may win just one game and that's against the Jaguars, but then again that secondary will make Blake Bortles look like a hall of famer.

Bortles is averaging something like 300 years per game. There is no question he will Look like a HOFer against this secondary

The bottom line is Joe Flacco is throwing INTS! People keep Blaming The Defense and it's not their fault some just find it convenient to put it on them instead of the QB! Just like blaming Torrey aga the pats when it's on film Marlon was opwn across the middle Joe could of ran up the sidelines or Justin should have got the ball but no one will put it on Joe just pass blame on Pees because it's convenient! Count the INTS this season or I guess people don't like FACTS that too much like rite SMH! Joe threw it rite to 49ers like they had on Ravens jerseys and no one has a problem with that it's Pees fault for those INTS! SMH!

That's type bottom line? No sir. I disagree. Admittedly, Flacco 2nd interview was one of the dumbest things I've seen next to the Colts fake punt. However, when type team is averaging over 20 points a game and opposing qbs are averaging over 300 yards passing; more fingers need to be pointed than just at the qb. Be real. We could be starting Schaub and losing every game by double digits

Honestly if we end up with a high first round pick and someone offers Ozzie something like a lower first round plus a second and third, I'd hope Ozzie does take it. We have more than 1-2 needs to fill. By my estimation we kind of need more than one pass rusher, two CBs, a WR and maybe a safety. And that assumes we resign KO and Tucker. So unless theres a specific Ray Lewis or Ed Reed or Ngata sitting right there when we pick (which is rare) absolutely trade a top five pick down to a top 20 pick and a few more early round picks. We won't hit gold on all of them and I'd rather have a couple extra shots in those first four rounds. The teams that move up for a top five player inevitably overpay and do worse than their trading partners.

FWIW PFT kind of suggested this morning that Pags might be on the chopping block after the awful play he called against the Pats last night. Wonder if he might want his old job back...

I agree with trading back. Too many holes to fill. I also want chuck back. I mentioned it a while ago that he was on the hot seat. Now, after that play call, his seat is on fire. Do we need a bring chuck back petition or what?

Team owners should immediately fire any head coach who doesn't throw the ball at least 40 times against the Ravens. The blueprint here is very simple.

My favorite thing about the Ravens will only hurt us this year. The fact we play tough until the final whistle will put us in a good position to win a nice handful of games this year.

That being said, since we're virtually 100% eliminated from playoff contention - why even do that thus hurting our draft position? I'm 100% cool with beating anyone in our division just to show dominance, but other than that I'd just toss in the towel. Fire both coordinators and start the 'rebuilding' process now.

I'd like us to pick up Philben or Caldwell as OC or at least bring in Philben to show us how a proper route tree should look via his Packers roots. I'd also trust his eye in regards to our WR's. It seems like every other team hits gold while we're stuck bringing in Vets or no-names from random teams. Imagine if we had a Brandon Marshall or Alshon or heck, should have had Dez if the Pats didn't screw us.

We need some playmakers with good hands and we've proven over and over that we cannot identify WR's that will have potential to be a force in the league (via the draft or FA).

Doesn't look like a historically talent-rich draft like the last 2 years, but it should be enough to bolster one of our key areas of need (pass rusher, CB, WR) and give us some important depth elsewhere (OG, OC, SS). We should also have the cap space to sign some playmakers to a multi-year deal.

Doesn't fix the lack of drive and immediacy I saw from KO, Monroe and Zuttah there at the end of the game. Last two guys are infected with loseritis from their previous teams.

yeah well ppl also said the same thing last year- said we'd be one and done and we ended up one play away from the afcg and got hot enough to take it all the way.

All I can say is that ALL fantasy footballers must have Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald and Malcolm Floyd on their teams this week. Probably looking at 400 yds. passing, 3 or 4 TD's and no picks.

This is a wasted season if the Ravens can't do something real quick, like win the next 10 games, this is the worst that I have ever seen them, but I hold Ozzie and Harbaugh as responsible for this ridiculous season and their poor mismanagement of players!!!

I said it before over and over! I cannot stand Marlon brown! He does nothing for us, he can't catch the dang ball and he can't get open! Givens and Ross are better! They're fast and can stretch the field! We need to use them instead of his lousy ability

Its all just a bad dream guys, we will wake up in 2016, with a New DC, Suggs and Perriman on the field,a top 5 draft pick, a favorable schedule, and all the beer you can drink!

This is gold.

That is where I am at. This team stands 0 chance against a playoff caliber QB and Teams. What's sad is the defense is so bad it is overshadowing how mediocre and unclutch our offense has been against poor defenses.

All the discount free agents and letting Ravens players walk out or getting a 7th round pick for a player in a contract year has caught up with the FO. Really hope Ozzie makes so moves that will make a difference this off-season.

At this point, what does the front office have to lose by ditching Pees? We got rid of Caldwell near the end of our SB season and that worked out fine. There needs to be a fundamental change in attitude and approach to our game. Every team we play against looks like they've been practicing with us all season.
