[News] Late For Work 10/19: 10 Takeaways From Ravens-49ers

145 posts in this topic

My takeaway from the game is Joe Flacco is DONE! I've supported him all these years I've came to the conclusion he has PEAKED! Doesn't look at pictures on the sidelines like all the great ones do doesn't move around in the pocket to keep the play going throwing INTs even our Super Bowl last season and isn't respected around the league! He can make you look good or bad and he is making alot if players look bad doesn't pump fake doesn't run just find excuses because he knows everyone will take his side and blame other players like they are now! He had Marlon open again but tried to squeeze it between to MLBS like he had Marlon open against the pats but he tried to throw into over and under coverage! Matt needs to start or keep blaming good players instead of the man with the ball in his hand! They are coming for him now so find more excuses for the remainder of the season because they are gonna need them heck blame me I can't let my Squad take all the blame when it's one man throwing the season away!

Harbs is trying hard to project the image that he is not "frustrated",just "disappointed". Watching the O-line at the end lolly-gag to the line with ANY chance to win and wasting precious time, Harbs should have gone ballistic with frustration. The sad reality is that a losing mentality/cancer has crept in to the Ravens. That inexcusable squandering of time would have never happened otherwise.

MY 10 takeaways: 1) Steve Smith is a Pros Pro 2) Foseett and Yanda are Pros 3) The rest and including the coaches are there for a paycheck. 4) Jimmy Smith isn't a shutdown corner 5) No fire No desire to win 6) Marlon Brown needs to go 7) No speed on both sides of the ball 8) What's up with the O line walking in the 2 minute drill ??? Again No Desire 9) Monroe is a bum 10) No leadership ! 11) And one extra - Flacco IS NOT ELITE.

All the past success truly goes to players Like Ogden, Lewis , Reed and Suggs not the coaches or management.

Very disappointed Ravens fan. : (

Its funny to see how fickle this fan base is.YES LOSING SUCKS, but its something we don't experience here very often, and we have to take into consideration the salary cap hell we are going thru right now on top of some key injuries we have been dealing with, and yet the Ravens have still been in every single game and have had chances to win each game, again its tough to swallow especially when we have been so spoiled by the Ravens perennial success, but us fans need to settle down and have faith that OUR team will fix these problems and have this team reloaded and stocked back up for another long run of success again. RAVEN NATION we have nothing to be ashamed of, we are one of the best well ran organizations in all of sports. The RAVENS WILL BOUNCE BACK BETTER THEN EVER>

Amen!

"Doesn't look at pictures on the sidelines like all the great ones do" now that you mention that I can't remember a time when I've EVER seen him do that. Great point.

This team is 1-5 for the following reasons: 1)Bad coaching that instills no pride or discipline; 2) Repeatedly picking up players other teams cut and expecting them to play better here; 3) Lots & lots of injuries. The third is just bad luck. The first two are on Harbaugh & Ozzie. Frankly, this is a team that expects to lose, so I'm revising my prediction for the 2015 season from 6-10 to 4-12. Quoth the Raven, "Never more."

We are a team that has been around for 20 years, we have drafted like 5 hall of famers, been in the playoffs about every year(and win at least 1 game), legendary defenses, Like 4 afc championship appearances and 2 Super Bowl championships. There are teams that have been around for 60 years and haven't sniffed that type of success. WE Will Be Back.

If I was Ozzie, I would trade Steve Smith to the Giants or Packers who are in need of receivers.

That way he'll have a legitimate shot at the super bowl and we would get something in return.

Then Ozzie can sign someone off the street to play our #1 WR.

I can just hope that we will be fine next year (of course, no guarantees). One thing that's really starting to bother me is Harbaugh's smugness. This is not a philosophy class, coming out every week, spewing the same BS about life and football is getting old. You are getting paid millions to hold your coaches, staff and players accountable and they are making the same mistakes every week, something's gotta give.

He has had enormous success with this franchise, but I guess the question on everyone's mind is, was that because of him or the legendary leaders we had on the team

I don't think it's just the losing that bothers Ravens fans, it's the lack of effort, of "playing like a Raven". A lot of us remember the Billick/Boller era where we really weren't a winning team, but other teams were still afraid to play us because even if they got a W they came out hobbling and bloody. We gave them a real battle. It was fun to watch, even if we weren't deep in the post season as much. That's what we are missing now. We have a better QB for sure, but lost too much on the other side of the ball. Ravens football is grind it out four quarters foot ball. A game of inches. We don't have the personnel for that right now. So no, I don't think the fans are abandoning the sinking ship over losing, I think they are giving up in a 2015 team that is, contrary to Harbugh, showing no heart. It's fine to lose but you'd better make the other team earn it, not just concede it. I don't know if firing Melvin and calling out Wright gets you there, but something better. Maybe we need Mosley or Doom in people's faces ranting and cursing like Lewis used to do when they botched a play. Or like you sometimes see Brady do to his troops. Because they sure aren't afraid of Harbaugh or Flacco.

"Its funny to see how fickle this fan base is." Fickle ? I would say the fan base is just waking up to the fact that their is no leadership now that Suggs is gone. Watching the Pats last night got me thinking - they lost 3 CBs and haven't missed a beat. Brady other then Moss has never had a true #1 never misses a beat. Never had a true #1 RB never misses a beat and why you ask .... Belichick adjust to his personal and plays to their strengths that's what great coaches do. Belichick is the Patriots not Brady remember when Brady tore his ACL and Matt Cassel came in and played well because Coach B adjusted the game plan. Cassel went on to sign a big deal only to bomb. Without Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and now Suggs the Ravens aren't coming back anytime soon and that's the harsh reality. Harbs a good guy but not the coach or leader we all thought he was that title goes to Lewis , Reed and Suggs.

it's time to play the youngsters, get Tray Walker in at CB, if Brooks is healthy get him at FS...Give Ross, Givens more PT, and call up Butler....Sign a OLBer off someones PS, like the Texans snagged Simon, and get them into the mix as we are thin at both ILBer, and OLBer....

All that joking and laughing during preseason Coach Harbaugh was so cocky going into the season has now turned into anger and bewilderment. If you think about it this is John's 53 man roster and coaching staff, there is no one to blame but himself. I think he is suffering from a Ray Lewis syndrome, that's when all your top motivational players are gone and your left with a bunch of uninspired players.

I gotta feeling Joe will throw 4000 passing yards this year but have a losing record due by passing the ball to keep up with other teams. When Joe doesn't have a good stats we win its the opposite.

1 takeaway from the game.....if we (the fans) don't see an announcement of coaching changes soon losing the season is going to be the least of their worries. Once you start losing fans it's hard to get them back smh

We're 1-5 and 99.99999% chance of not making the playoffs, changing a DC now is going to do what?

why wouldn't they be strolling around......We're 1-5!!!....NO CHANCE Baby......The players can take the rest of the year off(if they don't they're just plain stupid)and wait for our NEW coach to arrive.......coach has got to go!!!

Were having a down season... Every single franchise or team in the history of competition or sports goes through up and downs... If you don't have a elite quarterback you cant maintain consistency every year. Its an absolute miracle that the Ravens have been so good for so long without a top 5 quarterback. Look at the other top five teams over the past decade. Colts, Steelers, Patriots, Ravens, Green Bay... Notice that were the only team in that group that doesn't have a hall of fame caliber quarterback... That is not a coincidence. WIth 20% of our cap tied up in Ray Rice and Haloti Ngata (those two occurences are also interrelated), a FEW bad front office decisions, coupled with the ridiculous amount of injuries the past two years, I can accept one down season. If we dont show major improvement next year, then I'll start worrying about the direction of our franchise. If 'fans' are going to start cheering for other teams because we haven't won a super bowl in 3 years than go away, nobody wants you here, I'll take your PSL's and you can take yo A$$ down 95 to cheer for a franchise that has real issues. BTW, go read an article from somebody who knows football before you call for Dean Peas head. Russell street report and baltimore sun had good articles on how its talent, not scheme... Hell, listen to Dean Peas after the browns game last Monday, he spells out perfectly clearly why our defense is garbage.

There is no effort at all. The only player I have been impressed with this season is Steve Smith and he is 36 years old with 4 broken ribs outplaying everyone and he is gone next year. No speed on either side of the ball. What happened to the team who almost beat the super bowl champions last year in their own house? No one left that is hard to replace..... It makes no sense. Only thing it could be is lack of effort and coaching and discipline.

IF this team wants to save face then go all out against the Cardinals. Play the Raven Way ! Don't go out like you have been these past few weeks only to be embarrassed on Monday night football. This is your Super Bowl !

We have no leaders on this team, everyone plays pretty timid, other than Steve SR. This is not our year, and we just have to live with it. Until Ozzie gets some premier players back on our Roster, we will be what we are, posers for now. You can't keep throwing the ball down the field 30 yards on 3rd down, when you only need 3, that is insane, and it happened multiple times in the last two games....have some imagination Tressman.
