[News] John Harbaugh: People Can Scoff, We Will Fight

101 posts in this topic

Might as well play for draft picks at this point. 1-5, we're done. I'll still watch on Sundays and cheer if we have a big play, but send Steve Smith to a team that'll give him a ring. Green Bay maybe?

Would explain a lot of what's going on. Bears cross your mind?

Yup. This team has the mentality of last yr's chicago bears. The personnel is different but the lack of urgency is there. It's sickening & in no way resembles the baseline set by guys like ogden, lewis, reed, etc. This is just pitiful at this point. The owner has to see this which is why i expect big changes next season. Harbaugh will stay. His staff is screwed, though.

That was the ultimate dagger in the fans' collective hearts! That saunter led by Flacco to the line of scrimmage to spike the ball told me exactly what you correctly surmised. It was like coming back to the sidelines in practice - that saunter to save precious seconds to win the game! That was disrespectful towards every Ravens fan in my view.

Yeah. I agree w/ everything you said.

If Harbaugh leaves the Ravens today, would they be any worse than they are right now? I think not. He's disposable as far as I'm concerned. Ravens require a complete philosophical overhaul that can only come about with a new coaching regime. Harbaugh is at his wits' end, he doesn't know any better. Sure, we can blame Shareece Wright today and someone else next week, but I'm talking of a deterioration that has occurred over a few years. Some of us raised the alarm long ago, and were called crazy. When the Ravens, under Harbaugh, started morphing into a team that you could not count on to show up on every given Sunday(win or lose, their predecessors always played with guts and tenacity), a team that did not mind playing horrible football for 3.5 quarters, as long as they squeezed out the win...discerning minds observed that this approach was flawed and deleterious. There's something fundamentally wrong with the Ravens, way beyond the injuries they are dealing with right now. Today one of the TV commentators was incensed that the Ravens players were leisurely walking up to the line of scrimmage as precious seconds ticked away with the game on the line. He's an outsider, or he'd have known that the Ravens have been sleep-walking for a long time. The Ravens MUST completely separate themselves from the prevailing culture by moving in a different direction.

Yeah, I feel bad for Steve Smith, Sr. going out like this. He deserves better. It is hard to be positive, though, when you see the same things occurring game after game; i.e. missed opportunities, stupid mistakes, lack of intensity and lack of readiness at the start of every game, which I believe is on the coaches.

Bottom line : the team is not ready to play RAVEN football each week now. Play calling is predictable and opponents already know what we are calling especially on running plays. Fans have a right to be ticked off . They back this team with ticket sales, gear sales and the like. The coaching staff is responsible for the game plan and having the team ready to play each week. They are not getting that job done are they?

Fight? It seemed on the final possession that the Raven 0-line had given up. Jogging toward the 1st down spot in the final seconds showed no fight, only well paid men resigned to losing that game, coaches mired in a team that in no way resembles Raven football. Watching this game seemed to sum up what the players think of themselves. Get paid, don't get hurt and it's acceptable to lose. Fight? Where, where?

#1 pick in the draft should be a QB! Joe has peaked and has no motivation what so ever! Plus a QB that is MOBILE and can move in the pocket their is no WALL OF CHINA in the NFL!

We can't never get off the feild on third down. 31st in the league. And when we finally do on the niners last drive, a defensive holding call on jimmy gives them a first down that killed another 1:00 atleast that we would have had on the last drive, with better feild position mind you. So typical.

I agree that the staff is screwed, but I wouldn't say Harbaugh is completely safe. A good coach like Harbaugh can be forgiven for a mediocre season. But right now we don't look mediocre, we look awful, really awful. When I look at the schedule ahead its hard to imagine us getting more than a handful of wins this year. And the fact of the matter is that most of the time when a team finishes a season with 4 or less wins it almost has to fire its head coach in order to keep its dignity. This is especially true in a year that was supposed to be a competitive one. I love Harbaugh, he's done a lot for this team, but if we can't finish with anything above a .250 record this year we're gonna need a really good reason for keeping him around because common sense tells you that teams like ours don't have catastrophes like that unless its coming from the top down.

We really thought a special teams coach could lead this team after Ray and co. left??? I've never been a fan of Harbaugh. Everybody looked at me like I was crazy when I said he will destroy this team...now look. This is the team he wanted, soft and talentless. Oh and the fact that he still can't management a game from a time perspective is just icing on the cake. That last drive when the offense leisurely walked to the line and I was yelling at the screen for them to move it was a clear depiction of what a John Harbaugh team looks like. I'll wait patiently until a new regime that resembles RavenNation returns in the under armor building.

John thinks people are laughing no one is laughing but maybe Steelers or Bengals fans... no one honestly cares but the Ravens fans. Ravens fans aren't laughing we're frustrated.

I support this team and feel their pain along with them. But I'm just a fan, I'm not the one suiting up for gruesome practice every week only to get beat on Sundays. Sure they make good money, but they also sweat, bleed and face all sorts of pains weekly. They have my respect. GO RAVENS!!!

Same, old nonsense speech. Whatever you do, 1-6 comings. 1-7 at the bye week. Raven will try to reach the franchise record 2-14 at the end of regular season. Then earn a playoff ticket in .... North pole. That the price you have to pay when running around collecting trash, sign minimum contract, put in the team and pretend to be a player.....Go Raven go.

The Ravens are a bad football team period. Lack of talent or depth in key positions.Bringing in a guy who was just cut and not contributing tells you something about his skill level. No panacea at this point. Hard to watch for sure, no expectations none at all.

@PurpleRainBlackVeins

I agree with every thing you say times 10. Harbaugh is a PR man, song and dance rah, rah

Don't get me wrong I don't hate the man but; I do hate what he has done to this team. He's taken a team that other teams actually feared and made them into yes men. History tells you that yes men always under perform other wise they wouldn't be yes men.. You can take less talent and coach them up. Which Harbaugh has no clue how to do. Otherwisw we wouldn't be hearing the same we have to blah, blah(fill in the many, many things needed here) better

I doubt there is a quick fix for this team. If Suggs were here we would still be losing. We have a medicore "O" coach, a bad "D" coach and a PR guy with no real skill as a Head coach. A general manager who has lost his edge and a QB that can't carry this mess (who could) and a group of guys that are just plain not talented enough and under coached.

You don't fix this over night and this didn't happen over night. Anyone who tried to warn about the coming storm got negged and scoffed at.Now it is what it is....

PurpleRainBlackVeins exactly right. Slow, sluggish offense, no passion or fire, we have gotten penalized for delay of game with no huddle offense!! Why is this problem never fixed? Same reason why tons of penalties never addressed, WR never get open, Defense sucks...coaching problem. Bad leadership.

And yes, Harbs, the world of NFL is scoffing at us because we SUCK!!

What ticks me off is this team does not get better. It's the same freaking mistakes week in and week out. People need to wake up.

Wow, a real stinker last night.

Joe looked pitiful and when he didn't, his receivers did.

I wouldn't have been shocked to see Shaub out there in the 2nd half.

This is going to be a hard season to sit through. They can't give up but knowing you're playing without a chance at the ultimate goal, has to be hard as well.

We're playing to save some pride at this point. Gonna be an interesting off season, that's for sure!

People forget how close our games have been, and people forget that our rankings are better than our season record. People only see in black and white, instead of seeing the fight...in the team. Boy do people here forget.

The Ravens thought they had a replacement for Smith when they selected Breshad Perriman out of Central Florida in the first round of the NFL draft last spring. But Perriman hasn't taken a snap in a regular-season game all year because of a knee injury.

The Ravens thought they had possession-type receivers such as Boldin this season in Kamar Aiken and Marlon Brown, but neither has been consistent.

You got what you pay for.
