Let's Clear Up Some Things Shall We?

2 posts in this topic

This board has caused to to rapidly age. I'm tired of hearing some of the stuff that I'm hearing. We're bad, sure. No team can consistently be good. It's impossible unless you cheat.

Football is like an economy(not trying to make a political statement). You'll have high highs, and low lows. Regardless of what happens.

So let's clear some things up.

1. Playoffs are PROBABLY out of reach

It's a mathematical possibility but highly unlikely. Fine. I'll take ti. So much success in previous seasons that one bad season does not make me hate Harbaugh or Ozzie.

2. Harbaugh, Flacco and Ozzie are safe.

Sorry guys. They're not going anywhere. And why should they. This is our first bad season in almost a decade. Sure, Harbs does things that annoys people and the couch GMs are probably coming out and saying that they're better. Reality is, both played a major part in our prior success. We had pretty much the same roster when Billick was fired and Harbaugh actually did something with it. And cutting Flacco creates more problems than it does solve them.

3. We're not too far away from being good again.

We've been in literally every game this year. Had a chance to win it every week. If we had another great pass rusher other than Dumervil on the outside. Then we'd probably have around 3 wins. We have holes. We don't have too many holes.

1. Edge Rusher

2. WR.

3. FS

I mean.. We have a good core. We have a good dline, a star pass rusher, a star MLB, a very good CB and a very good FS on defense. We have some young and promising talent there as well.

On offense we potentially have found a #1 WR if he gets healthy next year, and have 3 young good TEs and a solid line.

Those are the major ones. And you can fix at least two of them via free agency with a decent, let alone great player. So blowing up would be foolish tbh.

4. Trestman is not the problem.

Trestman has been bad on third down. But who does he have to work with. It's way too early to judge the guy and without good personnel, well I don't see success with any OC. I think Perriman at worst is a purist deep threat. And he alone is probably better than anyone we are playing right now not named SSR.

Any other misconceptions I am missing?
