The Good, the bad and ugly vs 49ers

438 posts in this topic

Yeah don't get me wrong, I don't think Wright is a good player and I thought it was a terrible signing.  With that being said though, are we really just going to leave him on an island with Torrey?  He's been awful for 2+ years now and we thought it was a good idea to give him no safety help when he's covering one of the better deep threats in the league?  That's the biggest concern for me.  It's fine to call out Wright for poor coverage, but the coaching staff whether it's Pees, Harbaugh, whoever, completely failed to put him in a position to succeed.

Thank you, thank you. Good coaches put their players in a position to succeed. Great coaches hide their weaknesses. Bad coaches do neither and then blame them when though don't succeed and your weaknesses pop up.

He's seen 8 snaps and hasn't been targeted. I agree in that it's too early to call it a wasted pick. Wouldn't mind seeing him out there at this point.

Throw him into the fire and let him learn.  Poor defensive decisions withstanding, Wright just simply isn't a good CB.

I doubt that he's worse. It's difficult to be worse than what Wright has put on tape thus far. It's a matter of opportunity. As a team, you'll be more likely to start a player who you've just signed over what you have, especially if the signing fills an immediate need. Walker has to shoulder at least a portion of the blame in the coaches not having the confidence to give him meaningful snaps, but until he sees the field, it's difficult to know whether that is the correct call.

Walker may amount to nothing, but give the rookie cornerback from Texas Southern (yeah, who's that, right?) a break. Next year we can talk.

Exactly. That's one of the only good things about being where we are, we can afford to give the young, unproven players more chances to see if they can be counted on in the future.

Bad. Flacco's second INT. Offense in the first half. TO Management.

Ugly: Shareece Wright

Good: Offense in the second half.

Every thing you said in this post I totally agree with. Good post just the truth.

Were you saying that before the game or did you wait until you saw how bad Wright was?

Can you send a link to the place where you said we should be starting Walker over Wright prior to the game?

I agree with all of this. Definitely missing the fire

I just find it sad that no other player can step up and bring the same passion. The Ravens try to get those red star prospects every year, but they just don't bring the same fire

Season over already when we lost to the Browns at home. We just couldn't play 60 min ball game and we have so much things to fix and it starts with coaches.....our past coach took easy ride when Ray was here.....

All I can say is WOW we lost again thanks to Flacco, we need a new QB and we need it now, he need to be benched period! We can't win because of him take him out before the next game please, I'm from B-more whats up fam, I don't even ware anything of the ravens anymore, the DEFENSE? Do we have that on this team? No, we don't! Who was at the draft picking players who ever it was they need to be fired also, now! If I was the owner someone  would be benched and at the end of the season get rid of them like you never even knew them.

Well we are 1-5

If we finish 3-13 we will have a better winning percentage coming home than we currently have.

Play for the Pick Boys!!!

For CBs, I would trust a vet who's been on teams over a 4th round rookie.

Correct, that's generally true.

Though given what we know now and what our record is, obviously Walker would probably be a better player to be on the field at this point.

You're one of my favorite posters. You say a lot of what I'm too lazy to because I'm on mobile.

Just annoyed by what has seemingly become a board completely based on hindsight observations that are meaningless.

The problem is he always wants some form of empirical evidence for what is typically a subjective

argument.

Good: SSS didn't further injure himself.

The rest falls in the ugly category.

If heads do not roll after this one then the FO has packed it in for the season.

Good: I still Thank God everyday for Joe Flacco (Even when he frauds, we STILL have a chance to win)

Bad: Our WRs can't catch TD's (But that's nothing new. They have been betraying Flacco for years now)

Ugly: Haha, Dean Pees is somehow... still here

My Lord... my Lord...

I think they can make some starting position changes and move some players around, but other than that, what can the FO really do?

FA market is a baron wasteland of mostly low-talented players, there aren't any quality players to trade for (nor does it make sense to do so when you're 1-5), and even coaching changes is just putting a band aid on a broken bone.

Can certainly see some depth chart changes coming internally, but other than that, I just don't see what else can be done this year. The only real solution is players just simply have to play better.

I can't think of a single player on this roster (even including guys like Yanda and Tucker) who have consistently played well this season. Not one. A coaching change can't solve that problem.

Breathe everyone. Ozzie, Steve and most of us fans have been down this path before. It's 2007 all over again for us. This is Harbs first time and it's important he handles it well. With the playoffs out of reach, Harbs needs to keep this team together and avoid a total collapse in the locker room.

We have a lot of cleaning out to do this summer. Clean sweep at almost every position. No more filling the depth charts with undrafted rookies.

To me the worst part of this season is that there's still ten more games to go.  For the last seven years we've been in the conversation near the end of each season as to whether we'll be in the playoffs.  Always down to the wire, but it appears not to be this year.  Will still root though.  Still my team good or bad.

Yeah, he's shown up for the past 3 or 4 years stirring the pot. He usually goes away at some point, but with the way things are going he's got plenty of ammo.

It is pretty bad, but there were just too many unknowns going into the season. I kinda think that's one of the reasons I'm not that upset, really didn't have high expectations for this year. That along with all of the injuries.......I'm just not ready to call out the coaching staff and FO.

Another nitpick on my behalf, but I can't agree with this sentiment. I've personally yet to see Yanda put forth a poor performance this season, at least from what I've seen when going back to re-watch the past contests. I'd probably throw Brandon Williams into his group as well.

Beat me with the edit, but I was going to say Williams

Eugene Monroe had a solid game for the second straight week. When healthy, he's great. It's just been an issue having a healthy Monroe
