[News] Ravens Reach 4-Year Extension With Marshal Yanda

96 posts in this topic

This is great, but people now i hope understand why we don't have a lot of cap space every year, to keep core players eats up a lot of space...If Oz can pull off keeping KO, i will be a happy camper, he is truly a mauler as well.....Plays with a edge, Yanda was his Yoda....:)

One thing I believe if often overlooked when it comes to player contracts. Some guys aren't worth the investment. Some can't handle the funds and added expectations. They play their best when trying to achieve a goal but upon achieving said goal they just turn it off. I wonder how many players we have seen leave the organization because the front office felt that might be a concern with particular individuals. Then there are those guys like Yanda who just play balls out regardless of what they are making and earn their pay each week. Just thinking out loud as we move further into the season.

That's using the ol' noggin ! Keeping a mainstay and now go after Tucker and see if we can keep Osemele. The latter may be tough but if we can lose some of this year's "dead money" going into the Next Calendar Season ?

Good job retaining Yanda, nonetheless !!

At least we could focus more on free agency next year because we don't have that many important free agents. So I hope we get some good free agents next year. :-)

just another contract to get out of the way before we re-do the big mans deal... if we can lock up KO I'll be incredibly impressed.

Such good news. That guy is incredible. I remember when he was getting voted the unsung hero, then people started noticing just how good he is, and now he consistently gets the highest ratings not just at his position, but among all offensive linemen. He deserves every penny and then some.

Pending the details on the extension, this is probably a good decision. Even in his 30s, Yanda is more reliable and more skilled than KO. Of course, this does not preclude a KO extension, but I think most assume KO will be a FA. We had to keep one of our two guards, and I think they made the right choice. Let Yanda retire a Raven.
