[News] Safeties, Secondary Aiming To Find 'Killer Instinct'

59 posts in this topic

Flacco doesn't look vocal but you don't have to look vocal to be vocal. It is more of a way you carry yourself through practice. He is a super bowl MVP that has played well with nothing. Also there is Steve Smith Sr. who is both vocal in his actions and actually being vocal. The offense is scoring enough to win games the offense is not the problem. Again how many leads in all the games we have played have we lost in the last 2 minutes? There was probably 3 alone in the Cincinnati game. In the 5 games we have played I wouldn't be surprised if we lost the lead in the last two minutes at least 6 or 7 times.

Pretty sure in 3 of those games the offense had a chance to win on the last possession too... they don't get absolved when they don't produce do they?

I was high on Kendrick Lewis coming here... Now not so much. Apparently Darian Stewart is better than everyone thought. He is now on the best defense in the league playing great football.

Darian Stewart is an example of how a player can look better with better coaching.

I thought Hill was referring to the Offense and Defense when he mentioned lack of killer instinct. Offense gets a lead and goes away from plays that got the lead. Too many three and outs. It doesn't matter that the offense is averaging 25 points a game or whatever, keep scoring. The Defense never cried in all the years it carried this team (Flacco specifically). So now the defense is struggling and the Offense has it going, keep scoring and keep the pressure off your defense. Because with Pee's as D-coordinator and an ex Punter as cornback coach the D is going to be down for a while.

pees is so full of it. "consistency is all they need" well my question is why have they not played consistent???? if (according to pees) they have the ability to play well sometime (just not 60 minutes) my question again is why? This means it cannot be an ability issue then... obviously the ability is there.... why cant we get it there for 4 quarters???? Consistency.... who is responsible for lack of consistency?????????? Pees SMH!

law215.... it is not just D Stewart playing great under a new DC either. James Ihedigbo looks like a probowler in Detroit's defense. Two Safeties that weren't good enough here... who look great there! The adverse is true also... Will Hill looked like one of the top Safeties in the league before coming here... and has only shown glimpses of that and a lot of inconsistency since coming here? Why???? KLewis looked great in Houston and has come here and is not cutting it???? WHY? Heck the list doesn't stop there either... and the sample is getting too large to ignore. Killer instinct is such a vague answer... how do we get a killer instinct? Why haven't we had it (if its just a matter of getting it) how can we be sure to have more of it moving forward? Whos fault is it that this key ingredient has been absent? and who is responsible and how are we holding them accountable. Law215... I agree with you! We just are not hearing the real issues but we are seeing the results of not wanting to acknowledge the real issue and not holding the DC responsible!

I wonder (or Maybe worried) what Belichick will do with Melvin....

I'm confident in the secondary and I like that motivation but this is why I wanted the #1 pick in the draft a CB just like Jimmy Smith! SMH

Ravens usually get New England rejects. This is worrisome. Could mean he has the ability to be great but just not the right coaching.

I still believe in our safeties an I think they definitely will be great together. Fans have to realize that it takes time. This is Lewis first year so we will see him an will hill start to play well together mid to late season. New players take time to gell!!

Dean Pees says we just need to be consistent. Well twice, we've had game winning Interceptions wiped out because of penalties. And we're one of the most penalized teams in the league. Every game we're throwing away wins. If that isn't consistent, I don't know what is??

since teryl austin left the secondary has been weak. i believe some of the position coaches are not getting through to their units. harbaugh needs to make coaching changes in the off season

This kind of talk always makes a good story, but why is it such a revelation? Did these guys just start playing football last week? My take is that the secondary just isn't very good. If Colin Kapernick picks them apart on Sunday, shame on them because he stinks as an NFL QB.

That Jimmy Smith contract is going to come back and bite the Ravens just like the Webb contract is doing. Ravens need to clean up this cap mess. 2016 Jimmy will be the second behind Joe.

All this lip service sounds great but the actions each week on the field shows differently. Keep playing soft and this will continue to happen.

If Harbs wants to fix the D he should man up and call pees Into his office

Dean Pees - "We are our own worst enemy" - no Pees you are our own worst enemy; your lack of aggressiveness is killing us!!

BINGO!

So why is Harbs so clueless?

What ever happened to Omar Brown? Weren't they calling him "Baby Ed Reed" before? I know he's a couple years removed, but a player that has a tendency to be around the ball must surely be playing somewhere? I've tried to find out about what happened with him, but it seems my google-fu is failing me atm

i missed REX's CONTROLLED CHAOS.

Chuck was a darn good coach too, and the players love him. By the sound of things in Indy, he might be looking for a job next season
