Cut, Trade, or Re-sign

I keep reading resign like resign

In your defense, we have enough resign threads available to help confuse the two.

Go look for a perfect fanbase and see if you find one...and if you do please go and be a fan of that team. You so arrogant get over yourself!!

Not looking for perfection. Looking for realism.

This ain't Madden. Not everybody is for sale.

Don't focus on the 3 people that constantly post unrealistic player values, trade scenarios etc. Oh yeah, and stop pretending you're better than anyone and that posters embarass you as a fan. That's hilarious. I couldn't care less what some fans post here. I mean, are you kidding me? You care that much? Wow!

Yeah, you can't have 20,000 posts and then say you don't care about what people post...

Its just simply not true.

Dead space just like Perriman he should have been placed on IR. He's cheap and contributes but injury prone to say the least. It doesn't make sense to waste a valuable roster slot on a guy under his rookie contract.

I talked to Camp yesterday at a "Casey Cares" event and he would have been full go for Arizona. He is 2 weeks ahead of schedule. We should have put Periman on IR and waited on Camp. Periman is not even close.

Harbs told Camp in front of the whole team that this is just a "speed bump" and he will have a long career here with the Ravens!

Camp did say to me that he is going to use this extended time off to get his body "right and ready" for catching 100 balls next year..

Yeah, I'm sure that happens a lot. The reality is that a lot of "role players" who end up on IR only have 4-5 week injuries, but we need the roster spot for other players. There aren't too many healthy inactives on gameday this time of year anyway.

While Perriman might not be as far along, its better off if he gets some playing time towards the end of the season so he can at least get some experience.

The Panthers played in arguably the worst division ever. We're really trending downward in the division race and quiet honestly there are some games out there I flat out don't see us winning. I don't want to be negative, but losing to Oakland and then Cleveland at home the way we did just tells me we aren't a good team. That's just it, maybe we just flat out suck. I don't know but at 1-6 or 2-5 your chances of making it to the wild card are incredibly low.

yeah we're pretty much out of the division race- but it's the exact same concept. The entire afc conference is lookin pretty weak so far , and this year it's quite possible that a 7-9 or 8-8 record could capture that 6th spot. No reason to pack it in until we are mathematically eliminated. And we're not 1-6 or 2-5 yet.

Well, i mean, the Panthers last year is completely different, their whole division was just garbage from top to bottom and the Panthers were able to win the division with like 4 wins. We aren't going to win the division with the Bengals, its conceivable that we could bounce back a bit and come in 2nd but for us 8-8 wouldn't cut it like in 2013

see above.

The Panthers play in a division that was god awful last year. You can't really compare that to the Ravens play in the division with Bengals.

also see above.

And who knows ? Maybe Andy Dalton tears an acl and cinci drops 9 out of the last 11 games. Stranger things have happened.

it's hard to believe they couldn't find a way to keep him on the roster. Esp with the way our wr corps is looking.i also don't understand why he was so underutilized. Seems like we could have fit him into our game plans a lot more.

Mostly... makes the fanbase look ignorant. And because I'm part of that fanbase...

So I look ignorant to you becuase I asked if we would be willing to make a move for a WR in the offseason?

How does that make sense to you? smh

I keep reading resign like resign

Gotta love the English language and feel for those who try to learn it as their second language.

Cool, but I don't.

You are currently sitting at 20,050 posts.

But it's cumulated over the course of years.

So you care about the team, but I see you as a more casual fan if anything.

And who cares is correct. Sure some posters frustrate me, but I happen to find it funny

Less posts directed at each other and more on the subject of the thread, please.

it's ridiculous to think that a group of people get together to discuss a common interest only to be rude.

can't make comments to spark a conversation or thought about possible moves this team may or may not make during the off season without someone catching feelings about it.

You definitely make a point there when considering the wild card spots but even at that we're behind as well. We've dropped all four of our losses again AFC opponents, that could be the stringer as well. Even though the AFC is weak, I don't see an 8-8 record or 7-9 record getting us in, I expect the Bills and Jets to have better records than that, but then again, that is my opinion and that does allude to your point about Andy Dalton being absent because you never know who the injury bug bites. I personally don't like our chances, doesn't mean I'm saying Tank the season.

I hear ya- it's definitely a tall order and the deck is stacked against us. But if it's been done before it can be done again. If anybody can make a run its the Ravens.

I won't even predict trades since that's near impossible, but I wouldn't be surprised if we go in that direction to fill one of the bigger holes.

Free Agents:

Justin Tucker - The only must-have that will get done.

Kelechi Osemele - The big name that I expect to walk this year.

Courtney Upshaw - 50/50.  I'd keep him at a low price.

Albert McClellan - He should stay for a cheap 2 year deal or so.

Morgan Cox - We'll likely aim to keep the wolf pack together.

Matt Schaub - We might try to keep him, but he could be gone as well.

Jeremy Ross - If he sticks around through the season, we'll look at him for a cheap deal.

Chris Givens - Up in the air.  If he does well going forward, we'll look to keep him.

Shareece Wright - We liked him in the offseason.  He could stay.

Asa Jackson - Gone.

Allen Reisner - Gone.

All of the RFAs and ERFA's will likely get deals/tenders if they make it through the season with us.

As you can see, Tucker is the only priority, with Osemele and Upshaw being the only other possibilities that would be in the "expensive" realm.  Everyone is falls under the take it or leave it category.

Cuts:

Lardarius Webb (saves $3.5M, $6M dead money) - It depends on health.  $3.5M isn't bad for a CB, and Webb has been our most consistent this year.  None of that matters if he can't stay on the field, though.

Dennis Pitta (saves $600K, $6.6M dead money) - This is more of a retirement situation than a cut, but the cap situation holds the same either way.

Daryl Smith (saves $2.625M, $1.75M dead money) - This move is one that I'd only see happening if we're in dire need of money.  Otherwise, I'd keep him around.

Steve Smith (saves $3M, $1.167M dead money) - This is another retirement.  I'd love to try to coax one more year out of him, though.

Chris Canty (saves $2.15M, $765K dead money) - The most obvious cut.  He was worth keeping around for another year with how young the DL is, but his time has come after this year.

Other possibilities based purely on cap (don't think they'll actually happen): Jeremy Zuttah, Justin Forsett, Kyle Arrington

I think Marlon Brown needs to go if he doesn't start to do something. He's looked awful this year and I see no reason to keep him another year even if it's on an RFA tender.

Tall order is correct. Also correct is if it has been done before, it can and will be done again by some team at some time. When Justin Forsett was asked about these bad odds, his reply was perfect. "Then why not us?". A huge comeback to the postseason is destined to happen to some team at some point, so until we are out of it, I'm riding on Forsett's bus. The odds are bad but so what?

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him be cut when SSS or Perriman come back.  I'd think his spot on the roster is the most volatile if/when we finally start to get healthy.

Yeah. At this point, I just don't know what he does here anymore. I've tried yoo defend the guy and wanted to give him a chance, but his play just hasn't been good or even okay but mostly bad.

exactly. Even if something had never been done before that only means that somebody has to be the first. I'm not going anywhere. One game at a time.

When I first read the title I thought that a coach may be resigning (since players get traded, released, RE-SIGNED, etc). If the season ends with a really bad record or continued failure (on defense especially), maybe a new thread on resigning or firing will emerge. Hope the ravens get it together and claw their way out of the cellar. Originally thought this thread had some potentially breaking news. lol
