Cut, Trade, or Re-sign

Apparently Sammy Watkins hates playing for the Bills at this current moment. The staff that brought him in are not apart of the team anymore and throwing the ball isn't the identity Rex wants.

Any chance we make a move in the offseason?

I think Watkins would be a great fit for Trestman's offense due to his ability to run after the catch, and he'd be an upgrade over every receiver the Ravens have right now. If the Bill's would take a fourth round pick for him, I'd make that trade. For the potential of getting a number one receiver, I'd even consider a third round pick. It really depends on what the Bill's would want.

He well worth the first round pick he was chosen at last year, we know for a fact that this guy can play in this league at a high level.

Would he be worth high picks? To me it makes sense, but I'd like to see what everyone else thinks

I cant see them keeping LT and Camp they need guys that can stay healthy

I tend to agree but Camp has so much potential they wont cut him unless he gets injured again next year.

Three strikes and your out type of deal.

Trade KO for a 3rd rounder? I think Urshel's ready.

Not a bad idea considering he's the odd man out with Yanda signing  a contract extension today.

Or teams can just sign him in the offseason without giving up the pick...

Some playoff team may want him now if there is an injury with their team .I would try to deal him now

that Yanda has signed .Its clear who we preferred and that is Marshall.

Well if we had a shot at the playoffs, which we don't unless there is a miracle, I would say yes.

If we lose to the Niners ,Nope.

The question with Watkins is "do we want to trade a lot for a guy that may throw a tantrum if he isn't happy?" and also we'd have to pay a lot for him, even with the Bills probably upset with him they aren't just going to give him away to any team.

Yup, they want him. They're just not going to give a third rounder for him.

5th or 6th round pick... sure.

Nope, no chance.

Big pet peeve of mine amongst the fanbase... everytime we hear somebody complaining about playing time, not getting the ball enough, etc., we think that player is available for trade and we should go get him.

I'd love for somebody to provide me a list of young, quality, cheap players who complained about their role and were actually traded. I'm not saying there aren't any, but I can't even think of one at the moment.

You don't trade unhappy stud players their second year in the league who are making chump change. Its actually an easy solution for the Bills... throw him the ball.

I was told by a lot of people on this board that Tyrod Taylor is a stud thrower of the football, so that shouldn't be a problem to just throw him the ball....

Isn't Sammy Watkins hurt? I feel like he's dealt with injuries, too.

Yes.. He supposely missed two games so far but should play this week.

I think Ozzie could swing a 4th from a playoff contender because obviously it won't be a high pick.

I wouldn't call Taylor a "stud" throwing the ball...he can get it where it needs to go but he shouldn't be relied on to be a pocket passer. He's like Russell Wilson, not a "stud" thrower but he's efficient and doesn't make a ton of mistakes.

We're always one play away from the backup QB being called in to replace the starter.  Need good insurance if he's ever needed.

Okay, I agree. They need good insurance. Whats that got to do with Shaub?

The trade deadline is Nov. 3. That's just after week 8 when we play the Chargers, and just before our bye.

If they lose to SF this week, I could see Ozzie trading assets. You can kind of assume they'll lose at Arizona the following week, putting them at 2-5 or 1-6. At that point it'll be pretty obvious (if it isn't already) that they're out of the playoffs.

However, these trades most fans concoct in their minds aren't really realistic. I think fans look at the NBA and MLB and see how exciting the trade deadline is, yet they forget that the NFL has a hard cap, and good teams are often up against it, meaning they can't just take on huge contracts. To go with that, traded players usually don't net big picks in return unless the traded player will be young and useful for a couple years after the trade. Expiring or bloated contracts aren't worth much for an 8-week rental.

So who do we have that is worth trading?

You could reasonably trade KO for a 5th, maybe a 4th + swap some later picks if you get someone desperate. Or Ozzie could just keep KO and get a 4th round compensatory pick in 2017.

Dumervil could be traded, but his base salary is a bit high at $5 mil. Plus trading Doom would hurt our roster for 2016 (I hope they keep him, since we're already thin on the edge). Doom also isn't healthy right now, though he could be healthier closer to the trade deadline.

After that, you have a lot of players who aren't particularly useful to any teams, either because they are not healthy, talented, have bad contracts, or some combo of the three. You'd be looking at a conditional 7th for most of these random players.

As far as trading K.O goes, if you're at 2-5 or 1-6, then your season is over. Simple as that, I can see K.O being traded as an asset, but if we feel we can keep him then no way.

the season is not over until both wild card spots have been filled. Anything can happen. Esp with the 2nd half of our schedule. I bet the panthers weren't to keen on their playoff hopes last year either. Edited by January J

The Panthers played in arguably the worst division ever. We're really trending downward in the division race and quiet honestly there are some games out there I flat out don't see us winning. I don't want to be negative, but losing to Oakland and then Cleveland at home the way we did just tells me we aren't a good team. That's just it, maybe we just flat out suck. I don't know but at 1-6 or 2-5 your chances of making it to the wild card are incredibly low.

Well, i mean, the Panthers last year is completely different, their whole division was just garbage from top to bottom and the Panthers were able to win the division with like 4 wins. We aren't going to win the division with the Bengals, its conceivable that we could bounce back a bit and come in 2nd but for us 8-8 wouldn't cut it like in 2013

Who cares? This is how some are and whatever. Again, who cares? Why in the world does it bother you and why would it be a pet peeve?

The Panthers play in a division that was god awful last year. You can't really compare that to the Ravens play in the division with Bengals.

Mostly... makes the fanbase look ignorant. And because I'm part of that fanbase...

So arrogant, pompous, full of himself and more. This a forum of fan(atics) of a football team. Get over yourself, agreed. Sheesh. He's no better than anyone else here.

The Ravens should waive every single "fan" that considers themselves fantasy GM's when it comes to deciding who should stay or go based upon salary. If that shoe fits you, then consider yourself waived.

I cant see them keeping LT and Camp they need guys that can stay healthy

Campanaro should be waived.  LT is into his second straight year with injury as well correct?  I agree with you.

Resigned: Yanda, Tucker, Aiken, Ross, Orr and Jensen

Traded: Maybe Elam

Cut: Canty, Webb, and Daryl Smith (Maybe Zuttah)

Hopefully Pitta retires and I think we give Taliaferro and Campanaro a chance in camp and preseason to see if they can stay healthy

Aiken does not need to be resigned. .

Matt Elam needs to vanish. Save the spot for anyone that can perhaps be a safety. The only reason folks are hanging on is in the hope Oz doesn't look bad.

Webb is actually our best CB currently and he has financially discounted himself.  If he can't play again the remainder of the year, maybe.

I think its clear to move on from KO.

Injury problems , inconsistent play etc.

Unless he wants to settle with maybe 4mil

KO had a back issue in 2013 and that was a big reason why our running game went Kaput.  He's had an ankle this year, but the last two games he certainly got over it or played through it.

In my opinion letting KO walk away will further set us back. Another step closer to the cellar than the penthouse.  I fully expect our front office to side with your opinion.

Ricky is also recovering from the same injury Jimmy has. Lisfranc injuries are no joke and are frustrating to recover from.

That could explain it....we should give him a chance this year to demonstrate what he's got.
