Cut, Trade, or Re-sign

245 posts in this topic

. Flacco is still in his prime and to have a rebooted offense, a defense thats build around Mosley, and a already solid ST could be in the works for next season. If Ravens end up in the top 10 for the draft in 2016, what players do you see getting Cut, Traded, or Resigned for the upcoming year?

I cant see them keeping LT and Camp they need guys that can stay healthy

Both of those guys are on cheap deals unless they somehow get hurt again in like training camp or something then i don't expect them to be going any way. They still have alot to prove to the coaches though. It honestly seems like both LT and Camp injuries weren't that serious but due to The Ravens having lack of depth in certain areas they couldn't really wait until they were healthy enough to play.

Resigned: Yanda, Tucker, Aiken, Ross, Orr and Jensen

Traded: Maybe Elam

Cut: Canty, Webb, and Daryl Smith (Maybe Zuttah)

Hopefully Pitta retires and I think we give Taliaferro and Campanaro a chance in camp and preseason to see if they can stay healthy

Pretty sure Camp will be gone. LT might stick around if he can outplay Allen during the preseason next year. I think KO will be gone. He'll test the FA waters and I fully expect the Broncos to swoop in and grab him since Kubiak has had success with him.

If some of these young, cheap guys get cut (Camp, LT, etc.), it will more than likely be either because they get injured again (which means they likely go on IR) or because they get beat out by competition.

Fully expect these guys to make it to camp and compete.

I think its clear to move on from KO.

Injury problems , inconsistent play etc.

Unless he wants to settle with maybe 4mil

problem with the ravens in free agency the past few years is we paid way to much for our veterans that end up chroncially injured or at best practice team qualtiy players.  on the flip side we let go of players who are not injury prone and who play the type of football that defines the ravens.  ie bolden

here are just a few moves that drive me crazy

-Webb's contract is hard to swallow.  We have spent way to much on him for poor play.  unfortunately, we are stuck with him until dead space number is reasonable in 2017.  I WISH we could cut him/how is he the 2nd highest paid player on our team.

-why would we pay 2 million for a back up qb Schaub when our qb never gets hurt.  He needs to be cut next season-what is the point of having him?

-Pitta-love the guy but after 1st hip injury I am not sure what the FO was thinking. huge risk putting that kind of money for an injury most doctors would say has a good chance to occur again

-elam (undersized Saftey with tackling problems) not sure how this fits our defensive system at all.

Or teams can just sign him in the offseason without giving up the pick...

There are a lot of dumb teams out there, plus we traded a 4th and a 5th for Monroe.

Actually, there really aren't any dumb teams.

And the Monroe trade was mostly surprising, considering nobody expected the Jags to move on from Monroe after that season.

For context, a 4th and a 5th for an established LT is a lot more than what you would get for a established Guard who's in a contract year.

We're always one play away from the backup QB being called in to replace the starter.  Need good insurance if he's ever needed.

Have you seen our defense? He is a perfect fit for our defense at the present.

2 years 2 IR's that's a bad trend. I cant see them guys justifying 2 roster spots again going into 2016

I agree you need a good backup but schaub? He looked lost in preseason against back up players. Arm strength is almost gone as well.

Waste of 2 million. Especially when you could have started to develop a rookie as good young backup.

Trade KO for a 3rd rounder? I think Urshel's ready.

Sounds awfully familiar...oline with great resume of 2-3games gets a 'blind' starter job. Screws up and shuffle 3-4 FA dumpster to fix it.

Sounds like a Matt Birk to a Gino Gradkowski transition to me...

Jags thiught Luke Joeckel was elite.

People thought I was crazy when I said Joeckel wasn't even worth a late 1st rd pick.

Wonder where Joeckel is worth now...

What makes you think Urshel is ready? Plus that Monroe trade looks pretty fair in hindsight. He's been pretty underwhelming for the most part

I don't think the Ravens are going to trade KO for anything this season, but on the issue of Urschel, he did start during the playoffs. Not only did he keep Flacco upright, but he also did a good job of opening holes in the running game. Colinsworth kept going on and on about how impressive Urschel was during the Wild Card game against the Steelers. He was put into the spotlight as a rookie and overachieved.

Doesn't that sound a lot like Rick Wagner though, except Wagner did it for a full season?

I remember when people were somehow (and I don't see how) impressed with James Hurst and thought he was a better LT than Monroe.

Michael Oher's best season was probably his rookie season.

Urschel may very well end up being the starting LG next season, but I doubt the FO is just going to hand him that role without significant competition.

He played great that game and I'm a big fan of his. Just wonder how people are that confident in him from such a small sample size.

Understand wanting to get something for Osemele but trading him is unlikely, IMO. That would also mean putting Joe more at risk which just can't happen.

Ricky is also recovering from the same injury Jimmy has. Lisfranc injuries are no joke and are frustrating to recover from.

Cut Webb, Marlon, Arthur brown, kendrick

TRADE a TE

Resign juice

Well, it wouldn't make sense to trade Crockett or Max, and their value wouldn't be high anyway.

Pitta is basically untradeable due to his contract. Questionable whether he could even pass a physical with another team anyway.

We have boyle too.. all 3 could start I think we could trade one of them for a 3rd or 4th... pitta should retire
