[News] Joe Flacco, Ravens Having Clutch Troubles

45 posts in this topic

Eight years of coming to the line of scrimmage and still can't make teams pay for sending blitzers. Maybe if he communicated with someone on the sideline other that Pitta..., but "He's my quarterback".

I don't believe Joe did anything this season for anybody to believe he is a top echelon QB in this league. His play has been riddled with costly turnovers and he hasn't found a good depth of field on his long money throws either. He is either under throwing or over throwing his deep targets. His intermediate passing has also not been overly accurate. All in all, Joe has given the haters every reason to continue their hate filled tirade this season. As for the guys that believe in him, he has given us all serious pause and left us in a state of animated confusion.

youd have to see somebody actually blitz him before you could make that assessment. NOBODY had to blitz while Hurst was at left tackle...

Joe made the play twice in Denver. His receiver and the refs failed.

What few working parts of his feeble offense he did have were put in the hospital in Pittsburgh.

The last reliable piece he had in Forsett soon joined them in Cleveland.

people trying to put everything on Joe when no one outside of owings mills can name any other part of this offense is foolish and naive.

Joe still look's great on paper......not so great on the field though......And please trade Steve Smith to a contender for his sake......I would not suit up for a 1-4 team at his age....

Teams don't do things just to make their players happy by playing somewhere else. They do things that make them better.

Now, if we deem it is time to throw in the towel on the season and someone is willing to give us some value in return for him that will help us in the future ... that will be the reason we make a trade.

Dean Pees has always been the problem. The truth hurts

I think its the Trestman curse followed him to Baltimore. 2013 he was 8-8; 2014 he was 5-11 Stands to reason Ravens will end up 2-14.

Trestman's offense is putting up points, yeah I don't agree with all of his play calling but the defense continues to let teams score thus forcing the offense onto the field. Imagine if we had a top 5 defense that would force three and outs. This team would shine

If the Offense is Constantly on the Sidelines that Means the defense is Constantly on the Field. Which in turn by the time the 4th quarter rolls around the Defense is GASSED and is a good reason why Other teams are able to make comebacks on the Ravens D. Sure other issues have played a part as well, But if the offense isnt staying on the field and is 3 and out too much it surely is gonna lessen the opportunity for the Defense to have the Fuel to Stop another team Late in the Game

What!? Joe Flacco not clutch... get out of here... people around here aren't going to like hearing that!

Flacco has been one of the better 4th quarter qbs before this year.

Flake doesn't have clutch problems, he has touch problems. He can't seem to adjust his velocity or arm angle to hit open receivers consistently. What makes it frustrating is that he usually makes about five nearly impossible, totally amazing throws per game (usually clustered in the 2nd or 3rd quarter).

It's funny cause the DEFENSE got the lead in the Bengals game. Not Flacco.

Why is it the defense always had to down the opposition if they have ball last, but when the offense has the ball last they aren't held accountable?

double standards.

Not sure why this didn't post before, but here goes. If I was an OC in today's NFL, I would develop a game plan where the expectation is to reach at least 30-35 points. The majority of games this year seem to have both teams reaching 20 points at least, and quite a few into the 30s. So to me at least, 30 points is a reasonable expectation, and our team's D should take care of the rest. So if that's the case (and granted, maybe it's not), a DC should game plan to hold an opposing team to 20 points or less. And the D has failed to achieve that goal. Every now and then they get a big stop or turnover and put the Offense in good field position, or even a TD themselves (at least 1 that I remember). But mostly, they're not achieving their goal. Having said that, is that on Pees? The players? Ozzie and the personnel department? Harbaugh? The honest answer is probably a combination of all 4 (though I think it's mostly Pees and the players). Ultimately the whole team needs to play better. Definitely the D, but so do Joe and the Offense. Even ST, as we shouldn't forget they could improve, and Tucker has even missed 2 FGs (difficult ones, but still misses). Btw, before people come down too hard on me for that, let me just say I want the Ravens to make him the highest paid K in NFL history. Is Joe struggling to find his usual clutch factor? Definitely. It seems to be missing this year (though I think he needs more talented players around him to get it back). Everyone says the best QBs make those around them better. That's true, but nonetheless, look at the weapons the best QBs have! Denver, Pitt (with BB), GB, AZ, Cincy, Atlanta, and NE (I mention them because they're having success). They probably have the best QBs right now who undoubtedly make their weapons better (though in Denver it may be the opposite right now). But they're making good weapons great, and great weapons excellent. The Ravens brass is essentially asking Joe to make mediocre into great and bad into good (at least with the WRs not named SSS). We've seen Joe elevate his play and that of the rest of the Offense, and even team, before. But he can't be a miracle worker. Shore up the D and get him some playmakers next year. It'll be tough, but you should be able to do it.
