[News] Joe Flacco, Ravens Having Clutch Troubles

45 posts in this topic

Flacco is not at fault, the defense is. That Raiders, Bengals and Browns game Flacco drove the team down for a score to take the lead. The defense gave up all those leads. Not to even mention the fact that Flacco have the worst receiving core in the NFL especially when SSS is out. That is the reason why he is statistically the worst fourth quarter QB in the league. Not that our receivers don't have talent but they are young and need to find better ways to become open. When you lose to much is blamed on QB's and when you win QB's usually receiver to much praise. It is a team game but the defense DESERVE to have most of our losses on there shoulders.

Confidence, or the lack of it, is a huge factor in the outcome of any endeavor, especially sports. Joe, teammates and coaches need to do all they can to prevent a defeatist attitude from creeping in and taking over this team. The defense is our most frustrating and demoralizing problem, not Joe and the offense.

two fourteen point leads blown and you wanna say that flack's pick cost us the game? we've had leads in these games and its the defense that has collapsed come the start of the second half. we would have been able to handle forset's lose last week if the defense had kept the lead at 21-9, flacco and the offense doesn't have to explain himself, the defense does.

Still not so much on Joe, as it is on dropped passes, costly penalties, and other such things...... Every game that resulted in a loss, for the most part, these reasons were to blame.....

Also, in that Denver game, as much as I love SSSr, why is his TD drop to win the game omitted before the throw to Crockett? Two chances to win and neither one came up with the ball.

we can if we stick to the pland and stop switching things up when we get ahead! keep running up the score and stop being freaking nice! i hate when we do that, we get ahead and start doing the same running plays over and over letting the team have a chance to get the ball back!

another thing we gotta stop doing, is putting players that cant execute in the game, let givens and ross stretch the field so we can throw bombs or pass it to the RB

Anything to shift the blame away from the Dean Pees led defense. SMH

If it not Dean Pees then it sure as heck is the Secondary Coach, Quarterbacks Coach, and the Receivers coach. I seriously think these guys have know idea how to teach because it the same results since after SB. Thinks about it, has these three positions been the same problem year after year? Except Joe with Kubiack.

I'm glad to see nobody took the bait Mink put out. Here's to seeing SSS and Crockett Sunday. Funny how they never talk about the Offensive coordinator?

Bottom line is Flacco needs to step up and play like an "elite" quarterback and put this offense on his back. Too many errant throws, too many poor decisions. Is it all his fault, of course not but being one of the "senior" players on this team it's on him.

Dean Pees said, the D isn`t defined by 1 game. How about 4?

Well they began to falter last year against NE and it carried over into this year...in summary, the defense is being defined and they aren't going to like their definition.

"Quarterback Joe Flacco has had a chance to win in the fourth quarter in each of the Ravens%u2019 four losses."

Another way to look at it, is that Flacco had already won those games. It was the defense that allowed opponents to take victory away.

This team is on the flip side of the coin the defense has carried this team for so long. Now that the defense is giving up the points the offense has to come through, no one can deny that it hasn't been with in the reach of our offense to pull out a wins. It's compounding team problems that their not getting that clutch performance out Joe.

Stop running so much and keep Joe in the shotgun position with a RB by his side and 3 WRs and OPEN IT UP! The run game is solidified it's the passing game that has to catch up! Go to the TEs in the redzone like they did when Pitta played what they can't run that type of play now only Pitta?! Smh it's the best mismatch the bungles are doing it and the pats! Defense carried this team since 96 so now it's the Offense turn W/O any finger pointing because Ray Ray and Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeed could of pointed their fingers at the Offense their entire careers! "Only a minor setback for a Major comeback! LETS GO! Oh yeah on my Facebook page a Raven flew into the camera at the 49ers stadium! It's on now!

Yup, he needs to get the defense to not suck too.

Well at the end of the day, Flacco had chances to win those games no matter what the defense did or didn't do. When Ngata got traded and Suggs went down, this was no longer a team that any offense was going to fear. Everything from that point was on the offense. When your offense can score at will, like the Patriots or Packers, the other offense tends to manage the clock and doesn't really attack the defense. But when you have a QB that turns the ball over as much as Flacco, the teams aren't really worried about what the Ravens defense is going to do because they know the Ravens  don't have playmakers on defense and the offense will give them the opportunity by not converting 3rd downs or just by turnovers.

It's funny cause the DEFENSE got the lead in the Bengals game. Not Flacco.

Why is it the defense always had to down the opposition if they have ball last, but when the offense has the ball last they aren't held accountable?

It's really kind of silly to reference one play in any of the games. There have been many drives that have gone 3 and out particularly when we have a lead and fail to put a team away. The fact that we are in the last minute situation all of the time is another indication of what's wrong with the offense. No killer, put the game away mentality.

Soo many times when I am watching the game I am left thinking .... Well that was a wasted opportunity especially in the middle of the games when we have a lead. IMO Joe needs to find a way to maintain the intensity for every drive of the game and just maybe we won't need soo many late minute miracles.

Joe still look's great on paper......not so great on the field though......And please trade Steve Smith to a contender for his sake......I would not suit up for a 1-4 team at his age....

Flacco had a chance to be considered an MVP candidate right now if he would have made a couple passes better. Right now we could be 5-0, Flacco could be considered more than elite, but the ugly side of Flacco has shown through this season with his inconsistency and failure to work through his progressions. Almost all his interceptions came from him just throwing to his number 1 receiver blindly hoping something good would happen. He is the worst 4th quarter qb in the league. Joe is who he has always been, but for the people who do not believe Flacco is elite, he gave them all the ammunition they needed. For those who considered Joe elite, he could have proven them all right, but instead he was the inconsistent Joe that drives Ravens fans nuts. Yes, the defense lost every lead, but the offense had a chance to extend the lead or get a victory in each of those games and they failed also. No one deserves more blame than the other, but this article is about Flacco, and Flacco did not do what was needed, when it was needed most.
