The SI too early, not too early for us 2016 draft

With the number 3 overall pick, the Baltimore Ravens select Jalen Ramsey, CB Florida State University.

I wouldn't particularly mind this pick, it notes that he can play safety and CB which is great.

I know a lot of guys like Bosa, he went 2 to the Jags. Fowler and Bosa would be nasty...

Also he has the Broncos beating the Packers in the SB, which is just silly.

im not sure i see us passing on stanley for ramsey, id be ok with it though.

you know what really makes me like this? were picking 3rd in the 2nd round as well, and ogbah and shilique calhoun are both on the board, thats my ideal situation. travin dural as well. the ugliness of this season has me looking forward to draft season more than ever, and following the draft is already a passion of mine lol

Yeah, I'd think we take Stanley if this is how the board shakes out. I'm a Ramsey homer but you take the shot at the franchise LT imo.

The Rams, Titans and Chiefs look to be getting some great value on their picks though.

Don't the Jags have a pretty bad offensive line? I thought Joeckel was well behind the learning curve. If that truly is the case, Stanley may be the way to go

I have no idea, honestly, but I figured Stanley would have been a very wise pick to protect their franchise quarterback

stanleys my #2b tied with nkemdiche overall, a franchise caliber LT is a great pick no matter what the team needs are, they are still the 2nd most important position on the team.

I actually think the Jags will be more likely to take Ramsey. They know they're getting a potential top tier pass rusher when Fowler heals up, so improving another spot on that defense would probably be the better idea. A great safety in particular makes sense given that they play Luck twice a year.

Stanley? I'd call up teams if they're interested in him. I know he's great but we have Monroe, then again It would make sense with Wagner soon to be free agency status. I'd rather see us move down for Hargreaves. Jags have problems at left or right tackle if I do recall, I see them snagging Stanley, especially since Bortles has been taking hits since he began starting.

Considering that the top LT and the top QB could fall to the Ravens, they would be in great position to get a lot by trading down. Especially if some team wants to do the RG3 or Julio Jones type of trade. Trade down to like 10th and get a second this year and a second next year.

I'd trade down as long as I could get Hargreaves, but that's just my opinion personally.

I don't think we need a Lt and there is no way we take a guard or rt that high

monroe has been injury prone, and overpaid, and has underperformed even when healthy. we do need a LT, and stanley is a franchise cornerstone caliber of LT. locking down your 120m qbs backside for likely the 2nd half of his career is priceless, we would be lucky to get top 10 production from monroe for another season, and he likely isnt getting another deal when his current one is up unless he stays healthy and gets alot more consistent. if were picking high enough to take stanley, its hard to say no, we may not get a chance to get a franchise LT for another 5 years

When was the last time a safety was drafted top 3? Sean Taylor and Eric Berry were 5th overall picks. You'd have to go back to 1991, when the Browns selected Eric Turner #2 overall.

I haven't watched enough Ramsey to know if he is worth taking that high. I know a lot of folks on this forum love him. However, it would be hard to pass on a franchise LT like Stanley or Tunsil. Monroe has not lived up to his contract, which is not his fault, but you can't pass on great talent just because you're average at the position. See JO.

The Jags fan I talk to informed me that he was doing better this season. He has not allowed a sack in 2015.

He's very knowledgeable of the game, but he's also a homer, so take it with a grain of salt lol.

Ding! I can't see us picking third overall, but if we do I think we'd have a really hard time passing on Stanley (unless some crazy stuff happens to Bosa). Throw what you do or don't need out the window and take the best guy on the board. That's how the Jags take Blaine Gabbert with JJ Watt still on the board.

8 in 5 games, thats not good. but thats not the real problem, if you wanna know the real problem look at the final possession against cleveland, when joe took 4 consecutive snaps and had to sprint for his life just to have a chance to throw it away. so many times joe has ran for his life just to have a chance to throw it away, and especially in situations where we cant afford a wasted snap. our LT's have been horrible and we would do ourselves a huge favor by getting a cornerstone there.

you absolutely shouldnt pass up on a cornerstone LT, but ramsey is the real deal, hes absolutely good enough for 3rd overall, and id be fine with him or stanley. one would be the savior of the secondary, and the other would be a building block to taking our offense to the next level for the long term

You're rhe second person to tell me, so he must be up to speed now. He was my number one prospect that year. A&M has produced some good lineman

i like their LT this year too, a 2nd round sleeper, germain ifedi, may be a BIT of a project as theres a small chance he struggles, but he looks to be a starting caliber LT

I wouldn't even mind drafting Mike Matthews. As solid a run blocker as there is at the position

when I evaluate OTs I start with pass blocking, and if they're just average at that but a strong run blocker then I basically consider them a guard lol. I don't know about mike Matthews though, is he from a&m

He's their starting center. Haven't watched too much A&M, but he'd fit well into what Zuttah is now with room for a lot of improvement

maybe you don't understand we also cant put that much money into one position Monroe signed a contract when ? How much dead money do we have on the books for next season ???

sack numbers don't tell the whole story. Pressure doesn't always lead to sacks but it leads to wasted downs due to throwaways and rushed throws. Are you watching the SF game now? He can't throw he balls because he can't even finish his drop back without running

ok so we just settle for Monroe and hurst splitting snaps all year while joe and our running game spiral out of control? No, it doesn't work like that, we can't go make a splash FA signing but dead money should have zero impact on our draft decision, Monroe needs to be replaced and it's as simple as that.

And by the way, a lot of dead money will be cleared up next year, were still dealing with ray rice and Ngatas dead money

Technically speaking, the Ravens can get out of Monroe's contract after the season (save $2.1 million according to Spotrac), but realistically they probably won't as there would be $6.6 million in dead money.
