Week 6 Discussion (Other Teams)

204 posts in this topic

Here we are in week 6 of the 2015 season. We enter this week with six undefeated teams, 3 in the AFC and 3 in the NFC. Now comes the fun, which team will lose first?

Key Games:

Redskins @ Jets: I never thought I would consider this a key game in week 6 outside of the draft watch. The NFC East joins the AFC South as the worst divisions in the league. So if the Redskins win, Giants lose to the Eagles, then we could very well be looking at a 3 way 3-3 tie for first between the Redskins, Giants and Eagles. Jets need to win just as much in order to keep pace with the Patriots.

Giants @ Eagles: Did the Eagles wake up last week or take advantage of a bad Saints team? Either way, this is the Giants chance to start pulling away in the NFC Least. A win would put them at 4-2, but as I said above, a loss would only make this division worst as if the Redskins would win, a 3-3 3 way tie through 6 weeks. Or if the Skins lose like they should, then it would be a 3-3 tie between the Giants/Eagles.

Dolphins @ Titans: The Titans have a huge opportunity here. Regardless of Luck playing or not, the Patriots will most likely win Sunday Night. The Titans are 1-3 and with a win would move to 2-3, and a game behind the Colts who most likely will sit 3-3 by the end of Sunday.

Cardinals @ Steelers: Bruce Arians returns to Pittsburgh as the 4-1 Cardinals look to keep up with the Falcons, Panthers and Packers who are undefeated. Steelers look to keep with the Bengals who are 5-0.

Undefeated or Defeated?

Bengals @ Bills: Just when you think you know the NFL, you don't. Chiefs and Seahawks had amazing defenses and thought they would slow down the Bengals. That didn't work out like I thought. Now the Bills who is expected to start EJ Manuel, Bengals are going 6-0 and remain undefeated.

Falcons @ Saints: What happened to the Saints we once knew? Sean Payton and Drew Brees was a combination that worked and brought them a Super Bowl. Now this team looks bad. Dan Quinn meanwhile is doing such a terrific job or is he benefiting from a soft schedule? Verdict: Falcons remain undefeated.

Panthers @ Seahawks: Bad news for the Seahawks, Luke Kuechly has been cleared to play. Good news for Carolina is that the Seahawks teams they faced that went to the Super Bowl, they've come close to beating in recent years. With the Seahawks in disarray at the moment, I say Carolina pulls off a huge road victory and goes to 5-0 and remains undefeated.

Chargers @ Packers: Chargers D allowed a 30+ year old Michael Vick to beat them in OT. They almost let Josh McCown another 30+ year old QB beat them the week prior. What do you think Aaron Rodgers is going to do to them? Packers remain undefeated.

Patriots @ Colts: This was the game Brady was supposed to be returning from his suspension. Either way, Colts are a team that under Luck has continued to get blown out by the Patriots. Regular season or playoffs, Patriots offense just runs right over the Colts defense. Luck or Hasselbeck, the result will be the same. Patriots remain undefeated.

Broncos @ Browns: Quite strange that I have 5 of 6 teams remaining undefeated but Denver isn't one of them. Browns with Josh McCown are not a fluke, they beat us and almost beat the Chargers. They are coming together quite well, and with the way Manning is playing, I say this is the upset of the week. Browns over Broncos in Cleveland and the Browns fans have something to cheer for in the Factory of Sadness.

Another MNF game featuring at least one NFCE side? I can't wait, it's not often you see those teams in primetime, much less taking each other on.

I was going to say nobody cares for the Falcons vs Saints lol but 2 people do lol. Anyway, a blocked Punt recovered for a TD puts the Saints up 14-0 early in the first half.

Saints are playing with a hell of a lot of passion and emotion. They're playing like it's their last game.

They're underdogs at home coming off a bad loss against a divisional rival. I wanted to pick them to win today but didn't have the guts to go all the way and do it.

Saints are untrustworthy quiet honestly, can't blame you there. I mean they lost to Tampa at home.

Also their defense is pretty bad so this 14 point lead can be wiped away easily when you consider the success of Freeman and especially Julio Jones.

It's so strange hearing all this talk that Sean Payton's run in New Orleans may come to an end after this season. Considering Brees' cap hit for next year, this could be another long tenured HC gets fired(Fisher with the Titans, Reid with the Eagles) and Brees may play for another team next year.

Dunno how he'd go with us, but Payton would be a boss OC.

I think so with both situations. Maybe the Saints have grown tired of Payton and Brees isn't taking them anywhere not to mention that large cap hit. If Peyton goes I imagine Drew would too. Just hope to God it's not the Jets, then again New England would get a real challenge.

Payton would get so many calls to be a Head Coach, he'd be the first to be snagged in the coaching carousel. There's talk Miami may want to bring him in, and there are already rumors of Irsay wanting to go big name hunting in the off season to replace Pagano. Who knows if Caldwell will be around in Detroit the way their season is looking. The only problem is unless the Saints fire him, the only way any of those teams could get Payton for next season is via trade.

As strange as it may be, the Saints remind me a bit of Baltimore. They are a one win team facing a must win game at home against a divisional rival. They came out guns blazing at first, but then the rest of the game started to happen.

That was a quick fist half. I guess I have gotten so used to flag football that I forgot how things are supposed to be.

Too many mistakes by Atlanta that might cost them this game. Are they trying to lose?

Or maybe they aren't as good as advertised?

Agreed that there's no way in heck Payton takes a coordinator job, though it would be AWESOME. He's too good. Would get a new HC offer within 5 minutes.

If he leaves NO, the only way I don't see him taking an HC gig is if no good ones are open, that's about 5% chance imo.

Saints secondary playing very well even with their deficiencies at talent.

I was thinking the same thing. Their front seven is also really stepping it up in this game. This is a defense coming back after their pride got hurt.

Would like to see ours do the same but I'm not holding my breath.

Their schedule is soft and just maybe the Saints are now starting to come together and not looking like the 1-4 team their record says they are. Here are who the Falcons faced the first five games of the year....

Eagles(3-2)

Giants(3-2)

Cowboys(2-3)

Texans(1-4)

Redskins(2-3)

3 of those games they won by 10 or fewer points, Texans are the only team they truly dominated. They almost loss to a Romo/Bryant less Cowboys, and needed OT to beat the Redskins. If the Giants were smarter in clock management, I don't think they beat them. They've been lucky the entire way beating up on a soft schedule.
