[News] Ravens Place Lorenzo Taliaferro On Injured Reserve, Sign RB Raheem Mostert

63 posts in this topic

I know very little about the new guy, Raheem Mostert - rookie, undrafted out of Purdue, sat on the PS of Philly and Miami.

He's a special teams standout, Purdue record for kickoff return yard average, led FBS in kickoff return yard average and team Captain in 2012. He switched between wide receiver and running back for his first three years at Purdue and was and had more extensive playing time as a senior in 2014.

He's 5'10", 190, NOT invited to the Combine, but ran a 4.32 40 at the Indy Pro Day.

I'm officially intrigued. Here's his scouting report:

Welcome to the Flock Raheem but where is Fitzgerald Toussaint?! HE IS A BEAST waiting to be unleashed! Smh

I think Toussaint is currently on the Steeler's practice squad.

LT this sucks again for the second season in a row. He just can't get a break, unless it's his foot.

The Ravens are throwing stuff up against the wall to see if anything will stick. They have only themselves to blame for this situation. Taliaferro looks like another bust along with this years number 1, Perriman. You cant realize your potential when you are hurt 24/7.

Can't win for losing. This is turning into some sort of Greek tragedy. Something has to go our way eventually right? At the rate these unfortunate things are happening it almost seems deliberate.

I usually don't believe in these kinds of things, but after witnessing what has gone down in Baltimore the past couple of season I'm starting to wonder if we are cursed or something?! This is just not real anymore. Meanwhile Cincinnati has no season ending injuries, couple of questionables and 2 PUP-s.

If Justin is ruled out, Magee should be the back up to Allen.  He knows the playbook.  Mosteret, like Givens needs time.

Always felt that letting RB Toussannt go was going to come back on us and it has. Yet another decision that now appears to be going against us. Seeing what is happening week after week with injuries piling up at a record pace is very disheartening. This is one year where nothing seems to go in our favor and that is the way it is going to be for the rest of this season. Hopefully, our draft position will be within the first 10 picks.

I cant keep up with the NFL as much as I did when I was 20. I just don't have the time with work, kids, ext, but I feel like I know of about 10 players on this team now. LOL! Turn over is happening fast. Can't be worse.

How has it come back to hurt us exactly? He's not even getting on the field elsewhere.

Subbing out a career backup for another career backup isn't exactly losing anything...

NFL needs to expand both the active and the game day rosters. They also need to see if there is a correlation between the rate of injuries these last couple of years and the new collective bargaining rules against offseason organized team activities.

12 games Left! what if.........we win them all???? Like Jimmy said; every game is a playoff game from here! im not giving up until we are 7 losses down the drain! Lets get to 4-4 by the bye week.

If we win them all......I'l strip naked and run a mile!

Love that attitude btw. Play every game like its your last I'm not giving up until the fat lady sings. Even then, I'l gladly ruin the season for a few teams that underestimate us.

Tough break for LT. I wasn't the biggest fan of him when we drafted him and he didn't necessarily win me over last year. But he did come back this year on a mission. He lost the weight and was running lower than last year. He also surprised me a few times with patience that he lacked as a rookie.

LT really started wining me over and I am disappointed that hes gone for the year. It's not like he was gonna beat Forsett out anytime soon but he was developing every weak area in his game. His stats don't give him justice but as a Raven fan that watches every game 2 or 3 times iv seen enough to recognize how far this guy has come as a runner. I appreciate your efforts.

I often come down hard on players when they waste their talent so its only fair that I give credit to the ones that utilize it and work hard on their craft.

LT if you are reading this:- You my friend have earned my respect. Thank you and your efforts shall never go unnoticed. I pray for your speedy recovery and wish that you come back stronger than ever.

Liked LT initially, seemed to bring some power running to the offense. But then he developed "Pierce Syndrome" - showed some flashes here and there, but never consistent, and now injury prone. Wish him well though (as all of our players on IR/PUP).

You know, I have NEVER said Anything negative about the best owner in ALL of sports, Steve Bisciotti, because he is just that, the best owner in all of sports. But, Nobody is perfect and I think that he has made One mistake that I know of, and that's the handling of the Ray Rice situation. I look around the league and see just So many players who have dealt with domestic violence issues, many repeat offenders, that are Still playing in this league, often with the same teams they were with before their infractions, and I wonder what is so different about Ray Rice that he doesn't get a second chance when Everybody else gets second, and sometimes third chances. Goodness, look at Adrian Peterson! He's done much worse, in my opinion. His problems were with two, not one, incidences of child abuse, beating two four year old sons of his with switches severely enough to leave evidence of the beatings on the children's' behinds. And what happens to Peterson? He sits out a while, then comes back to his same team. This is the one and only time that I have been disappointed with Bisciotti's decisions for this team and, more importantly, for Ray. Ray Never should have been fired. His situation was mishandled from the very beginning. And let me state with great seriousness, I do NOT want to minimize what Ray did even in the slightest. It was absolutely Horrible! But, he is a Good man who made a Big mistake while under the influence of alcohol. Is there Anyone who has not made a big mistake in their life, including Mr. Bisciotti? How many running backs have we signed since we fired Ray? I've lost count. I believe that Steve Bisciotti is the best owner in all of sports. And I believe that Ray Rice is a good man who made a big mistake. I, also, believe that Ray should have suffered a fine and suspension and then been treated like Everyone else in this league who has committed the Same mistake that Ray did. It's been a Terribly unfair situation. Two good men, but because of the decision of one of them, the other had his career taken from him even though the same thing has happened to nobody else who has ever found himself in the same predicament. I'm sorry for both Ray and his wife and I believe that Ray should have been given the chance to continue with his career, after a suspension, and had the opportunity to show us whether he could have rebounded from a poor season in which our OL played miserably. I wouldn't trade you for anybody, Mr. Bisciotti, but I think you blew this one.

"I wonder what is so different about Ray Rice that he doesn't get a second chance". The Video is the difference. Their would of been a Fire Storm if the Ravens Kept Ray Rice. Could you Imagine his first game back? We haven't signed that Many Running Backs, not even half of much as Corner Backs.

Poor guy just can't catch a break. Second season in a row the Ravens slap him on IR when his injury was in no way season ending. I have high hopes for Taliaferro, but I'm not sure he's ever going to fully get the chance in Baltimore, which under Harbaugh is hardly surprising.

This IR list is getting so ridiculous.  I have to say that I couldn't wait to get past last season, because it was so bad.  This year is just ridicuously worst.  It's crazy.  Sheesh...

Yes, it was the video that was soooooo prophetic.  The league and the team did exactly what the "fans outrage" called for. When people began their quest of activism regarding domestic violence right after, they had to do something That's what happened.  Was his incident anymore harsh than the others????  probably not.  Does he deserve a second chance???  Absolutely.  Greg Hardy is still playing, and so was Ray McDonald for a time after his, until he got nailed for another incident too.  Hardy has actually, as has been said, had a number of infractions.  It is what it is.  Yeah, it's sad, and I feel for the Rice's.  ALL 3 of them.

We could always pick Toussaint back up if we're willing to sign him to the active roster. I agree with you, though, I loved the way he played.

Why would you want to get rid of Taliafaro? He's played in 16 of 21 games, Campanaro has only played in 8 of 21.

Taliaferro has played 16 of 21 games (I don't know that to be a fact) as a backup. If you can't stay healthy as a backup RB how can you be relied on. And this is coming from someone that really vouched for Taliaferro. I like his run style but if a guy cant stay healthy it serves no purpose bro.

I felt horrible watching how the media and especially CNN ruined a mans life and his wife's life. The media and CNN call themselves making people aware when really all they did was exploit and tarnish a mans career and life, including his wife. I still get frustrated when I think of station like TMZ. But more so CNN for being the biggest instigator. They could care less about Janae Rice, all they were looking for was more station views ($$$) and publicity.
