Taliaferro placed on IR, RB Raheem Mostert claimed off waivers

58 posts in this topic

Taliaferro must be heartbroken. I feel bad for him. Taliaferro was looking promising. We can be in serious trouble at the RB position, especially if Forsett is more injured than we anticipated or if he gets reinjured. Hopefully Forsett is on the mend and stays healthy for the rest of the season. Hey, if a bad reality emerges with our injury bitten team to totally deplete our RBs, I am not opposed to giving Ray Rice a shot. I know all the reasons why not, but if circumstances dictate re-visiting that decision, it may be in the best interest of the team to do so. Ray has done all a man can do to redeem himself and I would support the decision to give Ray Rice another shot if he has been keeping in shape.

Ever since the The Super Bowl year with the letting go of the "tough guys " like Boldin, Pollard, etc. Then the Ray Rice fiasco we seem to be more interested in wether the players are nice guys and good citizens instead of our old style of angry, nasty, bone crushers. I remember in the preseason game with the Redskins when they pile drived one of our receivers, Aiken ? And it seemed like we just took it. In years past there would have been a fight, and they would have been carting Redskins off on stretchers the rest of the game. I thought then we're going to have a tough year.

Good recollection.  That was an interesting event.  The Skins linebacker wasn't even flagged and yes it was against Aiken, right after Aiken began backwards "crabbing" after the catch.

Yeah theres been quite a few events that indicated things were likely going to be different this year.

I agree with this, but still amusing to read lol. I feel the same way though...he woulda got his head tore off back then. The Baltimore bullies are truly GONE.

2 years in a row on IR, at running back a position that takes a pounding & typically has the shortest shelf life among positions. That doesn't give me much optimism, going forward considering he hasn't played enough to truly make an impact on this team yet.

Hope he has a speedy recovery, but I'm sure we'll be drafting another RB for the third consecutive year.

Taliaferro is just a guy. The Ravens need slippery, quick skill players.

Agree with the last part, but we really need that at receiver... I think if Lorenzo could stay healthy he could be our featured goal line/short distance back. Unfortunate to lose the diversity he brought but not a significant loss. Sad for him though.

That injury bug bit HARD this year. Good grief.

As did it last year. I can't remember it ever being this bad, football is no fun when your squad is demolished 5 games into the season.

Tough to blame a guy for getting injured but I'm going to. two years in a row in all likelihood spells bust.

you can add camp to the list

Best ability a player can have....is availability

So did anyone know that Taliaferro's foot injury required surgery?  I just read his tweet this morning stating that his surgery went well.

He apparently was trying to avoid it.  Likely a boarder line injury that he hoped would get better sooner, but didn;t.

I'm over LT.  Too fragile.  Barely any playing time and mixed results at that.  Mostert is built like Forsett, but I like his 4.32 40 speed for kick/punt returns.  He's in Jacoby Jones territory with feet like that.  He also has experience as a receiver so he might be a better Swiss army knife than Campanaro too.  We'll soon see.

I can't agree with that line. Campanaro is special; he just can't stay healthy.

There go those theories that we put him on IR because we needed healthy bodies. It's a real shame because I thought he looked great when playing. It seems that's the case for the whole team lately. Guys look great when healthy but nobody is ever healthy lol.

can anybody say...Flacco?

Really too bad for Tali, he's one who worked really hard this off-season, and came into camp totally in shape and ready to ball. Can't wait to see you next year, Zo.

yeah I saw the tweet. It was just one of them lingering injuries and they finally decided to pull the plug. I'm kind of excited about this kid mostert, he looked excellent in preseason..I get why he was cut from philly but hard to believe he couldn't find a place on the Dolphins. Edited by January J

I was a big advocate of Camp when I wrote scouting reports for receivers last year and was really happy with the Ravens trading a pick just to draft him.

I don't have anything against Camp, but WHAT other than being a feel good story makes you think he's so special?

He's not special as in super talent in one area (like speed, size, power, skill). What makes him special is that he has a sizable amount of it all, save for size). The little guy is quite strong, as a former RB, he is tough minded and can cut on a dime. He is quick, but deliberate. He is sudden and faster than average. He has an excellent repitiore of skills that many players do not have in a combo. If the guy had three more inches, he would be a killer.

If healthy, there is no reason why he can't be our Edelman.

I think camp will take this offseason extremely seriously and do everything in his power to bulk up and stay healthy. The yoga had been working really well for him and he finally got past the hamstring thing and then got hit with this. He's gonna realize this may be his last real shot and I see no reason why the Ravens won't give him another shot next summer. They know his potential.

I assumed it was a lisfranc, since there aren't many foot injuries other than lisfranc and/or a broken bone that end your season.

At least it happened early into an underwhelming season. He probably wouldn't have made a difference for this year, and he will have almost 10 months to recover. Plus we'll get to see more Buck Allen and see what we got with him.

I am with you in the Julian Edelman part and Edelman has had problems with injuries early in his career too.  Special for me is his ability to "do it all" but there are many guys in the NFL that are built like this and most flame out or limp along - Brian Walter, Austin Collie, Danny Amendola,

Welker and Edelman are perhaps the the true success stories for this type of hybrid player.  I like a scrappy underdog like Camp because the odds are against him succeeding.  Camp is still missing something (conditioning, flexibilty, awareness, ability to abosrb blows - idk) but he's not there yet.  He's has thigh, ankle, consussion, and hamstring issue to date.  I hope he figures it out, but right now Jeremy Ross could end up taking his role as he has similar skills and perhaps more athleticism.  Also Raheem Mostert has those skills even thogh he's perhaps more raw.

To me Camp does not quite have that IT factor.  He could still develop IT, and I hope he does, but I'm not holding my breath.

Unbelievable. That's the third one in two years to a good, young player. Wth man.

A foot problem that requires surgery usually ends up being Lisfranc.  No surprise there.  The bad thing is that thee injuries carry a 20% chance of not healing enough to ever get back to being NFL ready.
