[News] Late For Work 10/14: Four Reasons Ravens Shouldn't Make Another Trade

80 posts in this topic

Instead of bringing Asa and James up, they should have brought up Asa, and Mcgee, we don't know how serious Forsett's injury is.....

He can still get active reps as the backup RB while he's on the PS.  The don't have to bring him up right away.

an aggressive minded dc will improve the defense tremendously plus doing a better job drafting and keeping some of these younger players instead of letting them all go will help as well. harbs knows that pees has to go but with all the injuries on defense there isnt anything that can be done at this point. i would play arthur brown and give more reps to the younger guys to see what they can do to better prepare for the draft. pass rusher should be top priority

Our Front Office is grasping at straws. You don't bring in an aging discard and expect wonders to happen or even a younger player to instantly be the game changer. Let's try to be patient. This horrible season ( 4-12?) will eventually end and it will become last year's conversation. The team will rebuild over the next few years and we will be in the thick of it again. Although, IMO, heads have to roll for this to happen. We restore our confidence in watching the rebuilding process. We have a nucleus. Young players will develop under the tutelage of a better coaching staff.

Can someone tell me why Perriman isn't practicing, a week and a half ago he got scoped and they said no more damage to the knee, and I know some of the fan base doesn't believe they have been or were 100% honest, but I don't see why they wouldn't be truthful about something like that, they literally have no reason to lie, so I don't think that's the case. Perriman as no work ethic, he is the softest player on the team until I see otherwise. Him not practicing for 3 months for a knee sprain with no extra damage is inexcusable. If he doesn't play this season, he may be the most disappointing and weakest players in team history. I was one of those people supporting and defending him when he was being called a bust and talked down, but now I can't defend him anymore.

Because;

"The average recovery time and return to normal activities following an arthroscopy is one to two months, according to Cleveland Clinic."

http://get.smarter.com/qa/health/recovery-time-after-arthroscopy-56f6319a36bc6236?ad=semD&an=msn_s&am=broad&o=32816

Maybe do a little research before calling names and throwing out a lot of baseless accusations. One click on google. It's not that hard.

No need to reach in a trade before the offseason, this defense is done and we stand no chance against the top Qbs in the league. Just emphasize coaching and performance. The guys who are not getting it done have got to go. Draft a Pass Rusher with your first round pick. Continue to build up the O-Line, and figure out what you are going to do with Flacco's contract.

What inside information do you have that the doctors have released him to practice?

The moves create little spark and smack of desperation. Frankly, we're just not good right now (as opposed to under-achieving), between injuries and quality of replacements. The time to make major upgrades is between Feb & August. But given that window this past off-season, nothing was done. Same major weakness now that was obvious in Feb. We just need to wait till the off-season (which will come much sooner this year) to make those moves. We'll certainly get better draft pick #'s come next May, that's for sure.

The Ravens will continue to search for a way to win...I dont think there is any number of players or coaches they will go through to get on a winning track. So dont expect this team to play down or settle for losses. Game on...looking for 11-5 if they don't look at it that way then the heck with all of you!

Lets get another Babin on the team that worked out real well. Ozzie and crew better have this secondary figured out before next year when we play new England. Brady would love nothing more than run up the score.

Smith or Boldin?? Wish I could see them both in the same uniform!

Also -- I wonder what big name player on the team's contract is up after this season? Doesn't seem like we'd lose anyone really significant (like we did with McPhee, Ngata, etc) in years past. If thats the case, then we'd be in good shape to retain guys with potential, secure the nucleus of a rebuilding team.

I know I've said this before, but if you want to put Perriman's injury into perspective, look no further than Keenan Allen (who was mocked to the Ravens in the first round). I can't believe people have forgotten already.

Allen suffered a grade 2 PCL sprain in October of his junior year, and missed the rest of the season. He then declared for the draft, but his injury hadn't healed 4 months later for the Combine, so he didn't participate. In April, 6 months later, he estimated that he was only 85% for his pro day...no that's the longest healing PCL in history.

Since he started playing, however, I have yet to hear of anyone calling him soft or a bust (he's only missed one game since his rookie season, and I think everyone would agree that he's a pretty darn good receiver.

And that wouldn't even be good: a 7-9 record is nowhere near good enough for the playoffs, but good enough to push us back at around the 15-17th spot in the draft... I say if we can't help sucking this season, let's get some good out of it - for example in the form of a high (near-top ten) draft position...

I agree but I don't think it is going to happen. We'll fight and claw our way to enough wins to keep us out of the top 10...

49ers are not doing great. Cardinals are a solid team and may be the best all around team in the NFC. Bengals we should have won the first game and they are a top AFC contender. Steelers we beat once. Browns we should have beat. Seahawks are struggling as well. Chargers are struggling to close games.... My question to everyone on here is how do people think we are that terrible when we have been ahead in every game the first 58 minutes. If the defense can put games away we wouldn't be talking about this. What teams on there can't we beat? We should have beat Denver and Cincinnati who are two of the top 3 AFC teams. Look at who else is struggling... Everyone but them.

Yeah beacuse sending all these players to IR will make us better. Ben will be back when we play PIT. Did you really list AT the Bengals and SEA as wins... lol. Be realistic man a good season will be if we win 5 games. Optimism doesn't win football games. Were worse after every practice because NO ONE can stay healthy. But hey you can go watch a video about Joe's TD celebration - that's awesome.

Just because we make them look like HOF caliber QBs doesn't mean they are. Kaep, Bortles, Foles, McCown, Tannehil, Smith, Dalton are Hall of Fame caliber?

Glad you picked up on my sarcasm; so sad how the Raven defense makes 3rd tier journeymen QBs look like HOF material.

Bunch of quitters on here. There are still games to be played. What would you think of an organization that said "we'll just wait til next year".

There's several organizations that say this annually, generally by mid-season. They just don't say it publicly.

You don't really think teams like the Jaguars or Browns went into this season thinking "yeah, we are a SB contender" privately do you?

Kind of like how he ran up the score last year with virtually the same team in Foxboro against arguably a worse secondary?

The NFL doesn't always work the way the box score says it should...

Too many negative people here. We could be 1-14 and i would still be yelling just as much at my tv for that last game cheering for the Ravens. If we dont win another game this season then fine. We still have a lot going for us though. Call me an optimist but I still have faith in Perriman making an impact. He hasn't hit the field and people are calling him a bust. We have Mosely who didn't have his best game but is still one of the top linebackers in the game in his second season. Brandon Williams is living in the opponents backfield. We will get injured players back next season for guys like Suggs to finish his career on top. Even this season I'm not willing to give up no matter how many games we lose. Thats the Raven way

I don't know you, dorie80, and you don't know me. But, I can tell you that I'm just as much a fan of the Ravens as you are. In fact, there are many, many times that I have to watch our games on a separate TV than the rest of my family because of my Loud enthusiasm that I display. That being said, I do agree that there is more negativity on here than I would like to have to read. But, sometimes, I think what we're reading is our fellow fans venting their disappointment, letting off steam, and ridding themselves of frustration. As fans, we have every right to make suggestions that we think are pertinent, point out what we see as needs, things that we think would help us improve, critiques of coaches and players' efforts or performances, and a lot of other things and opinions. Of course, I could do without the obvious negativity and digs that I often read on here. But, even the people spurting forth that kind of stuff, I have to believe they care about the team and are fans at heart or they wouldn't care enough to comment on here. Like you, I will NEVER give up on my team, but during this season that's been so painful to watch so far, I try to look on the bright side of things. Every loss we have to suffer through gives us a better position to draft from. And with us projected to have 12 draft choices next year, the closer we are to the top of the list, the more access we will have to the better players in the draft. And as much as I love my Ravens, I do believe that we have some major holes, issues, and problems, and that we are in a rebuilding mode. I believe, and sincerely hope, that at the end of the year, Mr. Bisciotti pulls his people together, as usual, and looks at each and every issue involved with what needs to happen to get this team back to where All us fans want it to be.
