[News] C.J. Mosley Takes Responsibility After Rough Defensive Outing

34 posts in this topic

New leader on defense? Good to see him step up and admit he messed up. He (and the rest of the defense) still has to go out and PLAY better, not just say they have to play better.

Everyone has a bad game.. But Timing was horrible. You want to be a LEGEND! Shine brightest in the in the toughest times, shine brightest in the biggest games...shine brightest when it counts most. Like 52.

Mosley if your going to be the new face of this D. You gotta shine bright every Sunday

Agree with both Bob21 and Ravens/Laker..... Mosley is definitely a leader-in-the-making with our team, and I also believe this defensive downfall is NOT all on him. Every player needs to do their job on the field the best way possible, and as a unit, and things will start falling into place...... If not, the weaker links will start to show......

CJ is a baller and he will re-bound. But even his performance is indicative of the fact that our defense often looks confused out there and out of sync. When the defensive scheme make CJ look bad with his enormous talent -what chance do the rest of our guys have?

Okay since nobody wants to say it, I guess I'll have to take one for the team and invite all the negs for this article. Riddle me this: Why are these guys apologizing for basic stuff that they should already know? "... got to make sure we stay on our man and just get back to the basics with the little things". Really? Is he saying he didn't know all of this prior to that game? One week it's Jimmy Smith saying "it's the little things" the next it's Mosley pointing to the same "little things". THIS DEFENSE IS POORLY COACHED. END OF DISCUSSION.

So how about switching to a 4-3 Defense next year? It's sad we are not getting rid of Pees any earlier than that, especially when we have his perfect repleacement on the team already.. Defensive Line coach, I can't think of his name right now but he has been with the team since before Harbs and has the love and respect of the players.. Something our current DC does not have.. Fire Pees now and promote him at least until the end of the season.

CJ is still young and he is still learning. I believe CJ will take these lessons to heart and learn from them and get better. As we all know football is not a 1 person sport there are 11 guys on the field for every play and each person has to do their job. I just wonder if any of the veterans that are still on this team and played with Lewis and Reed are hosting film session parties. Reed and Lewis use to have film session nights where they would get with other guys and study film.

It's good the CJ is taking a leadership role, but you can't blame him. Most ILB's have a tough time in pass coverage with the big, fast TE's...CJ was such a beast last year because our D line was so much better, Suggs, Ngata, and Canty were able to penetrate allowing CJ to roam. With an Average D line, very few Linebackers will be able to shine.

It's nice that CJ is taking the heat, but the truth is the problem is the coaching and game-planning. They are playing like Raiders, not Ravens. Big roster and coaching changes ahead!

The Ravens need to find a way to guarantee guys like Mosley, Yanda, KO, Upsahw will be Ravens for life. That way they can avoid situations like the one they are in now. These guys are leaders and that is what the Ravens are missing.

Hold yourself accountable before and during the game. I'm tired of hearing the D always saying its on them. When Josh McCown laughs in your face and puts up 450 yards it is obvious you are not going into the game mentally prepared. I'm not saying its OVER, but I do realize we are being lowered into the ground. Can we get a Manhood check please?

Coach Brooks, I think they call him "CB" - this first name starts with a "C" as well but I am too lazy to look it up right now.  He is the real deal.  Much rather have him than Pees.  Then again, right now, I would much rather have my cat than Pees.

Its certainly true that Mosely sucked.

So much so I dumped him as my Fantasy Defender.

He never has covered well though

I also don't understand why Ozzie gives some players big contracts when they've had injuries in the past or drafts players who were injured in college (probably because they were cheaper "value") To sum it up, I could've done a better job than Oz/ Scouting department on whether we should've drafted injury- prone Perriman- I found this article and I can't believe what I read:

"I remember at an older age, my knees would just give out just walking in random places like in the mall or something," Perriman said. "And everybody would be like, 'Boy, what's wrong with you?'"

If Perriman's knees give out when he was younger and just walking around the mall, then what makes Oz think that he's going to be able to survive a 16 game season? Let's do some homework, boys.

CJ you're a great defensive player in Run support and a good pass rusher when called upon. Coverage is tough at times and I blame Pees for the assignments he gives you guys.

I'd like to ask Mosley where that discipline will come from and why it is missing. And I mean that in all seriousness, im not criticizing mosley, but if anyone knows why this defense is struggling it is the players like Mosley & Webb.

Whats most obvious is the fact that they cant stop the pass to save their lives

You look all that up but don't actually look at the cause?

"Age ranges differ by sex because girls experience puberty earlier than do boys. Osgood-Schlatter disease typically occurs in boys ages 13 to 14 and girls ages 11 to 12. The condition usually resolves on its own, once the child's bones stop growing."

There are a lot of different players being sent in on secondary trying to find the magic answer. That doesn't help. The guys need to know what their players instincts and patterns are so they can adapt from habit. A step off and suddenly you're not defending the ball you're chasing someone up the sideline. And the more Harbaugh scrambles the rotation the worse it gets. Joe is able to spread it out more successfully then the whole defensive team including coaches can.

Discipline crumbling is an effect of loss of locker room leaders, they need to have someone who holds them accountable. I was confident that someone in the defense would step up, but so far only Webby tried. There must be a guy the rest of you will follow and respect and fear his wrath when you underperform. There needs to be the guy who will hold players accountable. And each one on their own have to hold themselves accountable.
