[News] Ravens Waive CB Rashaan Melvin, OLB Jason Babin

I won't mourn seeing the back of Babin. I like Za'Darius better, he's a rookie, he'll still make improvements and he's fast! Hope to see some good stuff from Charles James II. It's a shame Will Davis is out, he looked promising.

I choose to blame Babin for the loss. Anyone who measurably does more harm than good needs to go. Even I could have been in there doing just as little good, but at least without the penalties.

My gut tells me Bisciotti will clean house IF this team doesn't get to 9 - 7 and that includes Ozzie. Hope they can get it together and it starts this week in San Fran.

I think if you sign someone and then have to cut them in 3 weeks, there is problems with talent evaluation. I think with the class of receivers we had this year, thinking we had starters in Aiken and Brown was a failure of talent evaluation. When you look at some of the free agent pick ups in Arrington, Melvin and Lewis this year, Huff, Franks, C Brown last year was a failure in talent evaluation in the secondary. Yes, like Eisenberg said there are enough issues to go around but coaches and Ozzies evaluation of talent here recently has been suspect. I know it is sacrilege to question Ozzie, but where else do you go when you don't have the talent to win, the GM.

Why did we pick up Babin when Dwight Freeney was available ? One other question, when will Dean Pees be waived, fired, forced into retirement or suspended ? I don't care what you call it just please get rid of him.

Glad to see we signed Daniel Brown. OK, when he shined it was against 3rd stringers but he does show potential. D. Brown is worth developing and I am pleased we are giving him a shot on the practice squad.

... or it could mean that there is a lack of quality edge rushers chillin on the couch after the start of the NFL season.

i agree with cutting Babin he never really got the system, but i don't like the Melvin cut, he was coming back from a injury and we will miss his 6'2 size.....

All Babin did was cost us the game against Cleveland, and possibly the season. Without the hands to the face penalty, we get the ball back, with the lead, and our run game was dominating in the 4th qtr. "Melvin Island" certainly didn't work out well. I was never one of the people who thought he should be a starter. After all the injuries, we're back in the same position we were last year, signing people from various practice squads and hoping it works out.

When Babin took weeks to get on the field, I suspected that there must be some very valid problem but didn't know what it was. Well, we all saw the problems Sunday and see the solution today. Two costly, drive extending penalties leading to 2 td's? Adios.

8 sacks in two games with Babin.. I want to see how many sacks we get going forward per game. One thing Babin did was commanded respect as a rusher still even at his age.

Now without him Dum gets all Double teams once again... And everyone else isnt good enough on the D line the rack up a bunch of sacks individually

99% of Ravens fans and nation know there is one man started with letter P needed a boot in order to take this defense back to "play like a Raven" style.....If you ask John that question, he will say I don't know what you talking about; our players just need to execute better....yeah 20 yd cushion will make opposing WR executing better....

how did this defense get so bad. even with suggs getting injured he was on the backside of his career as is dummervil both close to their mid 30's. we have let too many young pass rushers leave and it is killing us this season. i know a lot of players leave this team and never live up to their big paydays with other teams but they were successful in this system and now we are struggling hard for not keeping a couple of them. fo blew it

Your gut is wrong. Ozzie will be here as long as he wants. Dean Pees may be fired, but everyone else is okay. Look at our roster, hard to win with the injuries we have. We don't need to make any trades or anything like that, we need to hold on to our picks, hope we get healthy and string together a decent season. If not we will be drafting in the top ten with one of the best GMs/talent evaluator in the game. I hope we turn it around, but I also want to get some high picks because we need some good young players at certain positions.

Babin played 7 snaps at Pitt and like 22 Sunday. He was hardly a threat.

I like Jeremy Ross as the returner going forward... But also I want him involved in the pass game. Thats one thing that ticked me off. He was in the on that early scoring drive, but then throughout the game besides returner you didmt see him much.... He could a been a huge weapon...like he was in Detroit and other places. Also Givens didnt get much action and he beat broken finger boy Haden multiple times
