Ravens cut CB Rashaan Melvin and OLB Jason Babin, Promote CBs Asa Jackson and Charles James

Dumervil left the game and didn't return b/c of a groin injury and we cut Babin???  Granted he sucks but we need the depth. So if Dumervil doesn't play that leaves; Orr, McClellan and Z. Smith as pass rushers?

Doesn't matter. We had no pass rush with Dumervil and Babin.

Makes sense. He's the prototype Belichick corner.

Belichick recognizes his strengths and will turn him into a good defender. It's called good coaching.

He at least pushed the pocket in and wasn't getting stood up. It was a classless move to cut Babin over a penalty when he's not even the reason we lost. Guy had a huge penalty also. Babin is still on the team without it.

This ranks second behind what they did to Boldin.

It wasn't classless. Babin  two penalties impacted the game alot more than Guy ever did.

Can't remember any player The Patriots took in which were former Ravens players that turned out to be good.

Guy had a dumb personal foul which pulled back an interception and changed the game. That interception stands we win the game Imo.

There were a lot of plays that impacted the game; Tucker's missed FG, Guy's penalty that canx Webb's INT, missed secondary assignments and missed tackles, just to name a few. To say Babin's penalty impacted the game more than others just isn't true or fair.  I think them cutting him is bogus.  Granted he didn't play great, but not many have these last 5 weeks.

They BOTH demanded a double team allowing others to get sacks.  I just read that 11 different defenders have registered a sack this season.  That's directly contributed to the double teams that Dumervil attracts.

Is there a Stat for coverage sacks? Because that's what the Ravens get.

The Patriots claimed Rashaan Melvin

He'll be pretty good in a defensive scheme that makes sense.

Babin been  in the  league longer than any of the guys you mentioned. The guy should have known better and  it was bad enough that he didn't have any prior relationship with any body on the coaching staff (mainly John Harbaugh). Causing two silly penalties is just inexcusable  for a guy that's been in the league over 8 years.

we signed Babin to sack the quarterback and he never even came close to doing so. And it wasn't just the penalty, it was his attitude. The guy looked like he had no desire to even be on the feild, and played with no passion. You could see it on his face. I was glad we had the guts to let him go and sent a message.

Agreed, I had high hopes for Babin. Wondered what took him so long to play and why it was so limited but I quickly started realizing why. Sad part is if we kept him and he kept under-performing... the FO would be getting bashed for keeping him

The playoffs.

Yes, Babin's the reason we're not going to the playoffs this year, hahahaha.

That's rich!

That didn't last long, although I assume James could possibly be back some time soon.

RB Terrence Magee has been promoted to the active roster, and CB Charles James has been waived.

Hmm. When you promote someone from the PS and later cut them, I know you have to pay them three weeks of game checks regardless, but isn't there something else to it? I can't recall.

We also have to hope he doesn't get claimed. He probably won't, but the decision to promote him and cut him before a game is ever played seems a bit stupid to me.

replyin to a sarcastic remark with another sarcastic remark Is rich. But I'm also being sarcastic so this whole post is rather redundant huh

Those 2 boneheaded penalties he caused on third down could have very well cost us the game. A divisional game...And in this league one game can certainly be the difference in going to the playoffs or going home. So the sarcastic remark actually had a bit of truth to it. Although you could say the same thing about the roughing the passer on guy, the missed feild goal, the failed 2 pt conversion etc etc.

Game checks are all I can recall.

It does seem like a weird decision, but maybe we just wanted as many healthy bodies available in practice.  If we weren't riddled with injuries right now, we might have just stuck with 52 until today before making a decision on James or Magee, depending on Forsett's health of course.  With as many injuries as we have, we might have honestly needed another body out there to help out on the scout team or take reps from guys in order to keep them healthy.

I think there used to a rule that said a player could not return to the ps after they played a certain number of gamesin a season, but the new cba changed alot of things.

Shame they cut Charles James for the dumpster fire that is Shareece Wright.

was thinking the exact same thing. I think James could have done much better. Couldn't get much worse, that's for sure.

Right. I'm a big Ozzie stan so my judgement is skewed. He makes these moves based on what the coaches want. If Pees or Harbaugh wants Wright and Asa then Ozzie makes it happen. Again, another abysmal personnel move. The first ST play for the Ravens Asa flat out miss the ball carrier. It was ridiculous. Smh, I knew it was gonna be one of those games. And who didn't know what S. Wright was about? He's a pass interference player. Why don't the Ravens know that?
