[News] John Harbaugh Outlines 3 Changes To Win

123 posts in this topic

Harbaugh inherited a winning team with,if not the best, one of the best defenses in NFL history. In his attempt to try to make it an offensive threat he has completely demolished what was once a great defense. Now we have an alright offense with a mediocre defense. The thing about it is it's not all on the players(although there are quite a few just in it for a paycheck). Some of the play calling on both sides of the are very questionable.Well I guess we can chalk this year up as a rebuild.

The fact that we are constantly scoring at least 30 points with limit players and a limited playbook proves that Trestman really is not that bad an I think the fans should lay off of him. I just can't believe that the defense faked us out, and led us to think that, that performance vs Denver was our real defense.

"We have to coach our players to higher levels." So, if this is true and since this is the NFL, why weren't they coached to higher levels all pre-season? "The coaches are doing a good job". "We've got just the men for the job here". These comments are awful similar to the quotes I heard prior to the firing of Cam.

Well, a lot of those players got old and stopped being great.

So naturally, clinging to aging veterans who aren't that good anymore is never a good thing.

Plus, the NFL has changed pretty significantly in that period of time as well.

Well, that's good: But Changes? I thought these elements would have been naturally a part of our philosophy. They seem pretty obvious to me. Maybe they were accidentally deleted from the powerpoint presentation.

I'm sitting here watching Ray Lewis talking about defense on MNF pre-game show. I remember him ending a game in that very stadium where he came through the line after the snap and floored the Charger's running back cold in the back field. Now that's the kind of attitude we need on this years team. They should show the players videos of Ray's old games and show them whats-for. This group doesn't have that edge at all.

I 'member when the fans were calling for Cams head and no one listened. Then one day he was axed and the team went to the SB. I think they lost 3 or 4 straight in 2012 (the last games Cam was around). Now that's the kind of 'change' this team needs. Nothing shakes up everybody's thinkin' like fear of losing your own job.

In the real world, rarely do people have bosses who will put up with workers messing up week after week, let alone day to day or even hour to hour. How nice it must be to not do a good job and still get praised by your boss.

1. Closing out games- we haven't done this well since Pees took over

2. Coaching players better.... our defense has consistently underachieved since Pees took over.

3. Not making stupid penalties... this has been a problem getting progressively worse for our defense.

4. Have the attitude to go win the game.... We haven't felt that our defense could stop anyone consistently since Pees took over.

Even by Harbs standards.... Pees has failed in every area that he says is a necessity to win games and Harbs still makes excuses for him? If Harbs has on flaw it is that he is loyal to a fault! Harbs is a great coach but he don't hold his assistant coaches accountable enough and he will never admit that they are not cutting it no matter how bad they perform. (Cam Cameron / Dean Pees). How many games have we lost that those two are primarily responsible for? TOOOO MNANY! Ozzie and Biscotti need to step in and force his hand at some point.... I get it... Harbs wants to protect his friends... I respect that but the FO has to be the bad guys in this one.... it is over due!

Hmmm, when I hear steps involved in solving a problem, step 1 is to usually admit you have a problem.

Step 2 is always fire the coordinator responsible for the problem.

I want Dean Pees fired, fired, fired! Our defense is the weakest I have every seen. We always played well on defense, for years and since the start of the franchise.[/quote

Well we haven't drafted well the last 4 years on the Defensive side. Elam, Arthur Brown, Kindle, Cody all busts. Can't keep missing on picks and not replenishing. That's exactly why our Defense sucks. To be fair CJ Mosley, Williams, Jernigan, Davis, Smith all are playing well. Terrence Brooks tripped over air yesterday? Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Haloti, Sizzle were all 1st round picks and they stayed for years and got old. We have yet to get anything out of our drafts for a long time now and it is biting us.

Literally the coaches are fine, I think its funny how one bad season due to inexperienced players causes everyone to freak out. Chill, Dean Peas know exactly what he is doing, and always has. MT's system led to 30 Ravens points, whether it be special teams or the offense. The fact is that you can't blame your 120 million dollar quarterback if he doesn't perform, you normally see the coordinators go, which Flacco has already thrown for 1200 yards, and last game didn't even have his top two receivers, top two tight ends, or Forsett for awhile. The fact is the Ravens don't have enough talented players at every position to compete, so don't expect much more than a rebuild....

But in this case, the boss thinks you are doing a good job.

The people who might think he's not doing a very good job also are those who's opinions don't matter...

ozzie has to look in the mirror as well. he has made some bad draft pics and moves these past few years and it shows on the field.

I was crying draft day when we selected Perriman (stone hands) over Lockett. Later, when we passed on Stephon Diggs and Duke Johnson too. :(

This team is done for the season. Im not getting my hopes up again just to get them shot down.

Ozzie and the entire staff on down hasn't made any serious moves to improve this defensive secondary since

Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard left, point blank. Teams have been torching us with the pass game ever since.

#1New head Coach....#2 New head coach....#3 New head coach........

Lets let the fans vote. They are o so qualified to make these kinds of decisions.

Its the same as coaching a Madden team or even your weekly fantasy team. Same exact principle...

If your being sarcastic, you should know that there really are people out here that know football and watch college & professional football like a religion. Just because you don't have the job as a team staff doesn't mean someone doesn't know their stuff.

A lot of times getting those NFL jobs is more so about WHO you know and not WHAT you know. BEcause a lot of guys know football.

One of my good friends who now lives on the West Coast and is retired Navy knows football like the back of his hand. He is a cowboys fan but knows damn near every single player coming out of college and into the NFL. He knew about Aiken & Campanaro before they even got the start. He doesn't think biased and calls things how it is.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to know that picking Matt Elam 1st round was a big mistake.
