[News] Late For Work 10/12: Is Ravens' Season Over? What They're Saying

Poorly conditioned team with all these injuries? Definitely poorly coached - Every game with 10 penalties, completely worthless defense. Pees needs to go.

You don't get to make excuses right now. Heads need to roll. Pees needs to go. The front office needs to re-evaluate the medical and training staff. This team has no identity, no heart, and is a shell of its potential.

No more PR crap, make changes, draft well, and field a better team, a better coordinating staff, hire better medical and training staffs, and get it together. WE are the joke the AFC right now.

So when will Garret Downing, Ryan Mink, Sara Ellison, Eisenberg finally admit that the defense coordinator Dan Pees is doing a terrible job in doing in game adjustments, getting them ready to, play or have a game plan before coming to game or playing in a game? When Daryl and CJ mosely were getting beat by a no name TE didn't adjust the lb's to play a zone or put in Arthur Brown (may get negged for this one) who has more sideline to sideline speed than both and who is better at coverage in for those 3rd downs? Also why didn't we play man press coverage when we did an all out blitz? You cant play zone DB's zone coverage when you go on a all out blitz.

Trestman needs to be allowed one more season (he has been doing a good job but we have no receivers who can play or run his scheme)Let him draft his offensive needs, and Ozzie if you use another pick for defense in the first round we have problems lol also might be in favor in letting DeCosta take over. Rant last opinion our great defensive history is slowly being tarnish and destroyed

Pees has got to go! We need a legit big trade for a pass rusher or veteran receiver. We need to get healthy and play discipline football. Those wild card spots are as good as open still. But only if we can not lose more than z2 more games until the end.

Injuries are partially a product of poor play and poor play (when you have good players) is a product of poor coaching and scheming. If you don't draw up plays that get your Defense off the field, they stay out there too long risking injury. If they don't make plays on basic play calls they start to press; which can lead to injuries. When all your games have gone down to the wire and two of them have gone into overtime you are going to be more susceptible than most to injuries. That is the 2015 Baltimore Ravens: Coaching, coaching, coaching. Harbaugh should go to IKEA, buy a mirror and mount it in Dean Pees' office.

Its funny that its the first browns win since 2007. This season feels like the 2007 all over again.

*first brown win in baltimore,  the browns beat us in cleveland last year... but yes the point still stand we are starting to look a lot like 2007

not trying to be negative but being a ravens fan for a long time i am sick of the defense keep blowing the game. where is the defense that every team in the nfl was feared to play us. if the defense blows the game again next week against 49ers i am not going to watch the rest of the season because it is getting very frustrating to see ravens lose. Dean pees need to go because his calls are horrible because we got burned multiple times yesterday in the secondary and corners giving way too much cushion.

I see another Cameron case with Pees.

Harbaugh will refuse to face the truth and will keep hiding his head under the sand. Meanwhile, Pees will do the best he can to help opposing offenses ridicule our once legendary defense.

Fans and pundits will demand the release for months end, but no changes will come. Once we'll lose to the Jaguars offense and people will start calling for Harbaugh's head for not doing anything, he'll finally heroically make this drastic change of firing his DC, like it was his genius idea.

Luckily this time there's no fear anymore that Harbaugh's stubbornness could cost us the season - it already has.

People can argue to their heart’s content that the season “isn’t statistically over til it’s over,” but the reality is that through all the variables involved, it’s just not coming together for us this year. Be it terrible execution during crucial phases of the game; terrible and timid play calling, injuries, mental lapses, bad luck or whatever else, it’s just not panning out.

We’ve been so concerned with receiving targets for Joe yet not realizing that he and his group of no-names are still finding ways to put up some points to compete late into games. Sure, they’re not going to score every single possession, nobody does.

Maybe what we should be concentrating our trade for picks on is to re-establish the edge pressure we lost with Sizzle. Babin isn’t the answer I’m afraid. Suggs and Doom were one of the most prolific duos just last year. We all know that every aspect and level of defense is interconnected with the next. Look at Denver’s top ranked D. Talib and Harris Jr. do get beat. They aren’t shut down guys 100% of the time. But they sure do look good not ‘allowing’ anything when they’ve got a front 4 that includes the duo of Ware and Miller. It’s a completely different ballgame when you can press the No. 1 and 2 receivers at the line and know that the opposing QB will only get about 2.5 to 3 seconds to make a decision with a couple reads at best. We don’t have that complimentary football right now with Sizzle gone.

Is it even worth trying to get the edge address this year?

It was not a slow painful end to the Raven season....it happened in only 5 games and was quick and decisive. Time to see if the 2nd and 3rd stringers bring anything to the table.

Last thing, in other sports lets say soccer (my favorite sport) when a man goes down an asset or the best player in that position, you have to adjust or make changes in order to still be effective; you change formation, or you give specific roles to the players on the team on what do so you can be effective as possible without the player. This is what is wrong with our DC, you have players that have the speed. Blitzes for example you can put Arthur Brown on the edge on 3rd and long he can use his speed either to cover the rb or blitz. You must game plan to accommodate the players you have at your disposal at the time but right now our coaches are forgetting how to coach.

RELAX. #1 it's jsut a game dont let it ruin your lives.#2 This team has been great for years , its ok to have a down year. #3 Joe Flacco is not aaron rodgers or Brady so stop comparing the ravens situations with theirs. Joe is a good QB but guys like Brady are amazing at covering up certain weakness his teams may have. Joe can win a super bowl but he isnt the guy thats going to magically elevate no names like the bradys, rodgers, mannings can. #3 Its going to be a painful year, breathe #4 Enjoy the little things like the steelers losing tonight. #5 The defense isnt 1 or 2 players away from being egreat so stand by for a couple shakey years on D whether you think pees should be fired or not. #6 Firing people is not the magic solution. #7 Breathe again and exhale atleast we still get to watch our beloved Ravens , I missed the last two seasons because of deployments

In terms of postseason aspirations- yes, the season is over. But there are still 11 games left, so in that sense there's still a lot of football left to play. It's kinda hard to be optimistic about the remainder of this year- the older players are plagued by injuries and it's quite clear that our defense and offense cannot get the job done.

The question is where do we go from here? We don't have enough healthy running backs or cornerbacks to compete. We have just Buck Allen in the backfield and we are playing safeties in the nickel corner spot. Last year we were getting players off of other teams practice squads and we will be doing that again. Kendrick Lewis and Kyle Arrington are a waste of money. I have no clue what they saw in these guys. I have to question our talent evaluation. When we pick up these guys and think they are good enough to compete and even point out how great Lewis is and he is atrocious. Plus, we do nothing with our wide receivers saying Aiken and M Brown were good enough to be pro receivers. We are doing a horrible job with talent evaluation.

Shake up coming?it should be, unless the team thinks that if the shake things up then it looks like they have given up on the season. At this point some changes are a must and it would seem to fall mostly on the Defensive side of the ball. Our offence is scoring enough points to win , but our defense is just terrible. I'm not sure if it is Pees, schemes or players. Something has really got to change. If Harbaugh had the guts to fire Cam Cameron late in the season right before playoffs, I wonder what is keeping him from making any moves now?

"The Ravens' lack of discipline isn't getting nearly enough attention." - LaConforta

This ^^^^ ,,, Sure, the pathetic play by the defense is going to get the press, because we're a franchise that was built on fierce defensive play. But when your team is challenged, you cannot absorb costly mistakes and we're committing them at an alarming rate.

Yesterday's game was lost on penalties. Don't even look at the number and yards ... look at the situations where they were committed. Too many to even list. I want to hear from the top (HC) what we are going to do to correct that.

our pass rush was absolutely horrible. we consistently rushed 5 or 6 guys and still gave Mccown perfectly enough time to throw the ball.
