[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts vs. Browns

189 posts in this topic

When are the Ravens going to start spending time, effort, and money, to upgrade this awful defense? Instead of worrying about some speedy wide receiver, when scoring over 30 points twice and losing, concentrate on where the breakdown is. I was one of the few mad dog mad when the Ravnes took Perriman. Where is he? What difference would it have made to have him against Oakland or Cleveland? The guy milks whatever mysterious injury he has and the Ravens make excuses. Terrible pick, once again tossing away a number 1.

1st off: we scored 30 points because we got lucky and ran across some bad defenses, do not delude yourself into thinking this offense is sufficient. Cleveland is ranked dead last against the Rush, and thats mostly how we scored on them (Flacco 2 RuTD, Forsett 1 RuTD). Oakland was ranked dead last against the Pass, and Smith Senior gladly went ahead and singlehandedly ethered their entire secondary. that's all that was. Bad news is, only one team can be ranked last for each pass and run, and we lost to both of them, so we're really screwed now.

2nd: the problem is that they already spent too much time and money on the defense and it didnt work. Terrence Brooks, Matt Elam, Tim Jernigan, ARthur Brown, Courtney Upshaw, Sergio Kindle, Terrence Cody: all these guys were brought here to replace waning and/or departing stars, and NONE of them has managed to become anything better than a 2 down role player.

So then what you have is a defense which has failed to acquire the talent needed to maintain its high level of play combining with the offense that was rendered anemic for its sake, to bless us with a losing season.

This patch work of plug in players from free agency is not working, and in addition to that the draft picks bust that they have had is hurting. Sergio Kindle, Terrence Cody, Ed Dickson, Dennis Pitta, Matt Elam, etc..... has not helped things at all. Just part of the reason things are going sour now.

As I said at the start of the season. No Pass Defense. They stand around and for the receivers to catch the ball and then and only then, they try to tackle. And the do a terrible job at that. Also at the beginning I predicted they would win possibly five games. That might be going to far now.

5 thoughts: Since we hired Pees 1. We cannot get off of the field on 3rd down 2. We make dumb penalties 3. We cannot stop average QBs from looking like HOF Qbs... 4. No lead is safe with us! 5. We continue to regress under Pees! '

Enough is Enough!

FIVE THOUGHTS

1. 3 extra days to prepare for the Browns (the Browns)... 2. We had them at home! 3. WE had a double digit lead 4. we scored 30 points again and lost! 5. Pees gotta go!

It certainly doesn't help that the only draft picks that are working out (CJ and Brandon) are substance players. I'm glad they are here, but if we go linebacker, lineman, and safety without some addressing some playmakers in some way, things will not change. This team is starving for playmakers.

This defense doesn't have a nasty streak. Smith Sr. said himself that there were too many guys on this team just happy to be here. There is no fight, no dogs. Harbs has the "coachable" team he wanted, with him installed as the alpha dog. Well, you got it, coach.

when player after player under achieve.... (and Typically our talent scouts are on top of things)... then we have to wonder if the coaching is getting the most out of these players. Elam for example.... played much better as a rookie under Pags then he did at all since Pees got here. The same goes for Cody... the same goes for McPhee... it took McPhee a little to adjust under Pees at a new position when he looked like a stud under Pags... Same with Webb... he looked great under Pags and not so much under Pees... Same with many of our Defensive Players .... I am not convinced that these guys are that bad... I believe that we could have DReevis, RSherman, Joe Hade, Clinten Dix and Mark Barron or Harrison Smith in our defensive backfield and still not beable to stop the pass of avg QBs .... the only thing that would be entertaining at that point would be to hear the excuses Pees makes then!

Will Hill is one of the top S in the NFL... look at how he performed in NY compared to here. If WHill,BWilliams, CJ Mosley, DSmith, Jimmy Smith, EDumervile, CUpshaw, or even Webb turned FA today.... another team would sign them today! (I can even throw Timmy and Carl Davis in that list) when 9 of our 11 players would be highly coveted by other teams but cannot produce here.... what is it? Its not lack of talent ........ its not knowing how to utilize the talent we have! its a failure from a schematic and philosphical approach... its coaching and that has been consistent since Pees got here!

Pollard left BMORE and played well in Tennessee... Ihedigbo left BMORE and looks like a probowler in Detroit.... Elam played his best season under Pags (his rookie year)... will Hill looked like the best safety in football in NY (under a different DC)....KLewis looked great in Houston (under a different DC) why can all of these S look great under other DC's (some before and some after).... but yet never cut it under our DC??????????????? Maybe bc it has less to do with the talent of our Safties and the inability of our DC! (and it dont stop with S) I can give examples at every position that will futher illustrate the trend with Pees incompetence!

Tough to see guys like Carey Williams, Corey Graham, and Ihedigbo playing so well on defense for other teams. That said, there should be enough talent on this defense to have handled business today. For Biscotti, this will come down to talent (on Ozzie) or scheme and technique (on Pees and his staff). Guess who wins this one?

With these putrid teams.....every "never" and every record has fallen....2013 and 2015 have destroyed the Ravens golden records. Shame. And the WRs showed up on that adrenaline the 1st quarter then poofed per usual after the 3rd quarter. All that koolaid people keep drinking thinking any WR not named SSS is serviceable is sadly mistaken. This team is trash top to bottom. Glad Jimmy was so kind to take that loss.....well duh it was on the defense. I was desperately trying to airmail a paper plane note to Dean Pees to defend the TE. But nah no one wanted to do it.

This is absolute truth.

Would you rather have Williams covering a #2 or #3 receiver, or the walking dead we have been trotting out since last season?

You either want it or you don't. This Ravens team does not want it. No heart, no drive, no will to win! But hey, most are collecting a nice paycheck just for so-so work...

Good God, that was awful. Making Derek Carr and Josh McCown look like Tom Brady are the eye-popping realities of our D right now. In all four losses, the D cannot hold a 4th quarter lead. Them's the brutal facts.

And I don't think this is as much Pees' fault on the D as it is with the FO. The players are just not cutting the mustard. No fight, no heart, no composure. You can't weave gold from straw. We're playing for draft picks and pride at this point, and we're only 5 games into the season. It's that obvious.

@Baller MD I am not joking about them, only telling the truth. San fran had such a talented team with a great head coach and now, they can't even make the playoffs due to the management's dumb decisions and players retiring. It is way worse for their fan base than it is for ours. Oh and i forgot to list miami who also have a ton of talent yet can't do crap

As much as I would like to say this game is all on the Defense, how do you get the ball down to the 4 yard line with enough time on the clock to win the game, and not go for the jugular? It's like when the Defense folds our Offense doubles down. Time for some kind of shake up in the coaching ! All the mistakes on both sides of the ball, along with the rediculously timed penalties, to me says we have some bigger than player problems !

No disrespect but comments like this is why the Pees is still here and the fans are pointing the finger at the FO instead of Pees unbielievable! The Ravens give up 4th quarter leads in 4 of 5 losses and people still don't blame Pees what is it going to take?!!
