[News] Game Recap: Browns 33, Ravens 30 (OT)

173 posts in this topic

I understand that we have a lot of injuries but injuries is part of this game, every team in the NFL has injuries, and given that, we still have teams who get the job done even though they have injuries, so that is no excuse. For you see just for us to be .500 is going to be a task, the way the Ravens are playing this year. But it can be done, if we win 11 games in a row we have a chance of going to the Superbowl, if we can stop committing stupid penalties all the time, being able to see open receivers and getting the ball to them, for that helps to make a QB elite, get the defense back on track and Dean Pees cannot do that. I can see right now, that this is going to be a long season for the Ravens, if they don't make some serious changes, for the ones who are in charge of running this team have made some bad decisions, for look at where we are today we are the tail and not the head, unless we can turn this around, then the ones in charge would be seen as geniuses and guru's, if they can turn this around, I'm just saying!!!

Shake up coming?

It should be, unless the team thinks that if the shake things up then it looks like they have given up on the season. At this point some changes are a must and it would seem to fall mostly on that Defensive side of the ball. Our offence is scoring enough points to win , but our defense is just terrible. I'm not sure if it is Pees, schemes or players. Something has really got to change.

haha wow you guys are ridiculous . RELAX. #1 it's jsut a game dont let it ruin your lives.#2 This team has been great for years , its ok to have a down year. #3 Joe Flacco is not aaron rodgers or Brady so stop comparing the ravens situations with theirs. Joe is a good QB but guys like Brady are amazing at covering up certain weakness his teams may have. Joe can win a super bowl but he isnt the guy thats going to magically elevate no names like the bradys, rodgers, mannings can. #3 Its going to be a painful year, breathe #4 Enjoy the little things like the steelers losing tonight. #5 The defense isnt 1 or 2 players away from being egreat so stand by for a couple shakey years on D whether you think pees should be fired or not. #6 Firing people is not the magic solution. #7 Breathe again and exhale atleast we still get to watch our beloved Ravens , I missed the last two seasons because of deployments

Gerry Sandusky has only got to say that dumb saying. "the hay is in the barn" one time this season, so that`s a plus.

He still thinks we're the Colts. The last reminate of the Colts

Like I said before. In every position I believe we have the talent to be in the Super Bowl. We lost nobody from last season that was that big of a difference maker. We went from 2nd best team in the AFC almost going to the super bowl to garbage. That doesn't just happen over night. The only position I see us being in the bottom half of the league in is our wide receivers. Yes I think our corners are okay, what is killing us is the scheme and how far off they play off of wide receivers. Remember when Webb was good? He may not be pro bowl caliber like he used to but he still looks solid except when he is already 10 yards behind the wide receiver. That defense may have worked 15 years ago but not now. Also bone headed calls on 3rd and 1 and so on have killed us during the last several games. Yes losing Suggs and Steve Smith sucks but looking around the league a lot of teams are winning without vocal leaders like them. It is because their coaches are prepping them better and have a better game plan. I can't believe we signed Trestman to multiple years and I cannot believe Pees is still here after how many games our defense has been decimated the last two seasons. The only reason we had that streak of not allowing a 100 yard rusher was because opposing teams knew they could throw 60 times without turning the ball over.

Come on man. Joe is doing more with less than any QB in the league. no Intss, 1 Pass TD, 2 rush TDs and he sucked today?  He's making guys like Aiken , Campanero, Brown money when no one else would even draft them. Adding years to the career of guys like Mason, Boldin, Smith Sr, Daniels. Does he miss throws? yes, is he elite? No, He put 30 points on the board with a bunch of guys who were cut or on the street. Get him some help

Joe is a great playoff QB which is great, but in the regular season he is VERY inconsistent. Just look at the stats from this year from game to game.

Brady and Manning have not done anything at all with the type of skill players on offense that the Ravens have right now. When Brady got credit for "carrying" a bad receiving corps in 2013, Kamar Aiken was on their practice squad, meaning that our current #1 WR wasn't even good enough to make the roster for the Patriots in their worst year. Manning and Rodgers have had a great receiving corps their entire careers. We were down to 3rd string at every skill position on offense and still put up 30, without benefitting from any turnovers forced by the defense. Most of Flacco's incompletions at the end of the game were throwaways, because he doesn't have anyone to throw to. It makes no sense to put it on the offense for not sealing the deal. The most injury depleted unit in the league gave the defense multiple opportunities to seal the deal, and they gave it away. I don't care who the qb is, or how much money he is paid, nobody is putting up more than 30/game with a bunch of 3rd stringers who aren't even good enough to make the roster on most teams.

Just admit it Joe is great during playoffs, but is average during regular season. I love the guy like you do, but he is what he is.

I though pro bowl meant elite... I guess all those tackles they broke of his were because of scheme.

Great Point. I'm not trying to take responsibility away from players. I just thought after a few times of getting burned, the coaches should say Mosley can't cover so don't ask him to.

You would think. Mostly looked like the pressure wasn't getting there and he was left holding the bag. I thought he was a lot more agile, fast than what he's looked like the past few games. Probably hurt like the other 50 players.

Its time to smell the coffee. There are a handful of players that I would keep, however, its time to look ahead to rebuild. First and foremost, we should start with a new QB. For many years the defense bailed Joe out. With that all gone, Joe does not have what it takes- injuries and questionable weapons aside, to carry us, and or, to make IT happen. C'mon, smell the coffee......we stink.

I believe that if we had an average qb, we would have one of the worst offenses in the league, but we have a top 10 offense right now in terms of ppg. There's no way that happens with an average qb, an inconsistent run game and o-line, and a bunch of 3rd string pass catchers.

Also, if Flacco is average, then Tom Brady was also average in the years he's played without Gronk or Moss, because his stats in those years are similar to Flacco's. When you look at stats, you have to remember that they are a reflection of the entire offense, not just the qb. No one in NFL history has ever put up "elite" numbers with the type of offense Joe has right now.

defense had trouble, agree but the last two times we had the ball no excuse for not 1. getting a touchdown with 1st and goal against the Browns run defense. Who called those plays? and 2. 3 and out in the OT?? CHOKE.

Sorry brother Joe is a lights out QB in playoffs and inconsistent in the regular season. Without looking at stats the eye test proves inconsistent. BUT here are the numbers:

  • Broncos - 117 yds passing and 0 TD, 2 INT (one was a pick 6)
  • Raiders - 384 yds passing and 2 TD, 1 INT
  • Bengals - 362 yds passing and 2 TD, 1 INT
  • Steelers - 189 yds passing and 1 TD, 1 INT
  • Browns - 210 yds passing and 1 TD, 0 INT
  • That's 6 TDs and 5 INTS = inconsistent

Like I said I love the guy especially in playoffs, but in the regular season he is what he is right now. Trust me he isn't the only reason we are 1-4, but it comes with the territory when you are getting $20 Million a year you will get a lot of the blame. I didn't make those rules up that's reality.

Those stats reflect the entire offense, not just the qb. The stats look horrible in Denver, but if you actually watched the game, we were getting stuffed on most of the early downs with runs, getting put in 3rd and long situations, and Flacco had no time to throw and our WRs were getting owned by single coverage. Flacco still put the potential game winner in a WR's hands, and he dropped it. None of that shows up in the stats, which is why they don't tell the whole story. For anyone who thinks stats are a good way to evaluate a qb, look at Tom Brady's stats in 2006 compared to 2007:

2006- 3,529 yds, 6.84avg, 24TDs, 12 INTs, 61.8 comp % (No better than Flacco's typical stats)

2007- 4,806 yds, 8.32avg, 50 TDs, 8 INTs, 68.9 comp %

According to the stats, Brady went from being slightly above average in his 7th season to the greatest qb of all time in year 8. In reality, he was the same qb with better receivers(Moss and Welker). Stats mean nothing without context, and when you put context to Flacco's stats, he's not nearly as inconsistent as the numbers suggest.
