I knew before last season started that this day was coming, I don't see any hearts on this defense. If Rothlistburger was healthy a few week ago we'd be 0-5. Any of the top 25 college football team can beat us. All the hype during training camp was all just hype, all talk and not much else, The fans are the ones that's hurting the most, time for me to get on my boat and sail around the world, hopefully I'll be back by next year training camp.

well silver lining out of this crap season so far is that we are probably looking at close to a top 10 pick in the draft so we should be able to draft a WR/CB/OLB that can really make a big difference for us next year.

I recall the slogan banner from the Raider, glory years gone past, "A COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE". That slogan banner had stood at Raider stadium (and it still may?)well beyond the glory years and oddly enough, through many of their horrible years- perhaps even decades. Their banner was long overdue to be removed based on their long years of mismanaged and pathetic play. That just makes me think of OUR slogan, "PLAY LIKE A RAVEN". At a time when we had a hard nosed defense and we seemed to rise against many odds- for a hard fought victory, the slogan (from what I gather) came into fruition. Recently, I am not seeing this. As of now, I am seeing only, "_ _ _ _ LIKE A RAVEN". We all can fill in something there if we choose. One week we are blaming a lack of weapons, the next- a horrible pass defense, mounting injuries. While most can be true- I firmly believe that we should still be playing much better across the board. ALOT appears missing- and is, however, do the Ravens want to continue to PLAY LIKE A RAVEN?

Time will tell. It will be up to the front office to straighten this one out. Remember, that's where it starts.

Second home lost in a row to bum teams is unacceptable. We have offense at times then it fades away for awhile. This defense is average at best, blowing leads left and right, when will we replace Pees?Lack of weapons, yet still had leads and that defense just can't get it done again.

Common Harbs when r u going to accept this season is over ..What is really going to throw me off is we finish 10-16 and not make the playoffs and not get a top 5 pick ..this team deserves a top 5 pick , period ...Solution is simple throw Dean Peas , Arrington , Secondaries Coach , Marlon Brown and Upshaw out ...We cant have both Yanda and Kelechi ....Not sure how 2 quick fix WR or pass rusher situation next year ..What is the point of stuffing the run when the opposing no name QBs throw for 500 yards every week ...Trade some first or second rounders and get some quality safeties and corners next year .Enough with stop gaps...Don't draft one in any rounds ..We are just not good with grooming safeties (lately) and WRs ...Its always a miss ...Winning will turn around lot of these things ...Just play with effort all 60 mins on defense and offense not 58 minutes not 59 minutes ..full 60 minutes ...

Well, what you see is what you get. One can blame the D/C, which is appropriate, the O/C for some questionable play calling in key spots, also appropriate, and even Joe in key spots, but the problem starts in the FO and not having the necessary depth. To rely on three thirty something LB's to start and stay healthy for the whole season is highly questionable. Couple that with some high draft picks that are, to date, busts and one can see how these problems are manifesting themselves into late game meltdowns. There are obviously more concerns (stupid penalties to name one) but that's the gist of it.

21 points was good enough with our old defense, but now Joe has to score 40 points per game. Thanks Dean Peas ! Your defense has been going down hill with all that talent.

It's amazing this game even went to OT. 505 total yards! Another 100 on 12 Raven penalties. What's more amazing, is if Tucker hadn't missed that FG, they could have actually won. I bet there's a lot of people here that had the feeling McGown was gonna shred this D, and he did. I'm to the point where, if they're gonna lose every game, I wish they would just get blown out, instead of every game coming coming down to practically the last play. Then I could just turn it off, get on with my day, and not have to think about all the IFs!

We strolled on the Ravens walk sipping Jack & honey, Bacardi with sprite; listening to and enjoying the Ravens marching band cadance in step towards the stadium.

My 35 year old son and I were in the spirit.  He is very cerebrial about football since he is primarily a Dolphins fan.  We had the best seats. Located on the home side 34 yard line in 128 five rows off the field, we felt like we were in football heaven with the typical cool die hard fans around us. At 21-9 we both looked at the scoreboard and said they either play to dominate and take the game or allow the 015 slide to happen. Three parameters are involved in all these 015 games. Penalties at critical times, the famous Ravens D turns into an ordinary group  and the Offense stagnates. He said he saw his Dolphins crap out the same way for years with blame eventually spreading from players to the coaching staff.. Yes,  Dean  Pees name was circulated by the young dudes in reversed caps to the fun black girls we high fived all the way into the fourth quarter

When we couldn't score a TD  and settled for a FG in the final seconds, that ominous feeling creeped over the stadium.

Overtime.

The Browns know what its like to subjucate themselves to the other team as they often folded year in and year out in the most critical times of a game.  This time we witnessed the routine advancement of their offense as they entrenched the redzone and plastered our once mighty team on the leg of a pudgy kicker.  The spirit of the crowd diminished with each play and finally that football penetrated the upright space sending us to 1- 4 coupled with two losses at home to our bitter division rivals.

Seventy thousand frozen in disbelief basking through a beautiful fall afternoon.  The stadium was the center piece of disappointment.  The people are crushed, the playoffs are a foreign word and the $9.50 beer was bitter.

Everyone shuffled out of the gates somber and moon eyed while Browns fans giggled like children.

What can we do?

Set our goals for .500 and jump off the springboard from there. The Bengals are 5-0  operating on comebacks reminesent to what we had accepted as "routine" in 012. They will survive as Divisional  Champs. We will need to set our goals for a .500 record like 013.  We have no choice with the three curse parameters and record we own.

The worst was about to happen......I-95 N was backed up morphing  into a parking lot due to accidents and further demoralizing us by a two lane shut down for construction up near Bel Air.  So after a roller coaster ride of hope to bitter disppointment I look at my M & T bank fridge magnet and wonder where I can stick it.   :bricks:

The best NCAA college football team in history would lose to the worst NFL team in history by at least two TDs.

one positive was givens looked to be open on a few plays. i dont believe flacco saw him but once they get more comfortable with each other in practice hopefully they will connect on those deep passes.

Pees definitely has not followed in our tradition of excellent DCs. It's probably a good idea to make a change at some point. I also believe that years of shopping at "bargain basement" and letting proving talents we have developed walk, have finally caught up to us. On the whole team right now, there's probably less than 10 first rounders. In the past also we had strong leaders. I know a lot of players that busted their butts so much because they did not want to disappoint Ray Lewis.

If we do not make the playoff, Flacco would have to agree to restructure his contract, to allow the team to bring in good talents. We are essentially fielding a JV team against other teams' varsity and this is irrespective of the the injuries.

The $120 million question is what happens if Joe refuses to restructure?

he has already said he will restructure this off season

yeah, he wants the long-term security more than huge $ at this point.

The real issue is getting all that dead money off the books from Rice, Pitta and Haloti.

Joe needs to be comfortable throwing to all his WRs, which clearly he is not.

Get comfortable? It's football. you run, throw and catch. I don't see how you need to practice that when you've been doing it since you were 2. How many games have I played in a back lot with people I've never met before? Seems like they can catch, run a fly route and the QB knows when and where to throw it. How come professional guys with months to practice together and 20 years of experience playing this game, can't get it together. They should be able to connect on day one!

I absolutely hate it when it's said "the team needs time to gel together". The team needs to earn their paychecks is what they need to do. Gelling is for shoe inserts.

No one is mentioning it but, Joe has taken a couple steps back. He may be better than any other QB we've had but that's not a great list to be the head of. He just doesn't seem to have that football presence an Elite QB needs to be sucessfull. Bad decisions, not seeing wide open receivers and half of his passes are not on point, especially anything under 10yds!

Our O line is giving him 3 seconds or more to throw and I know I've see receivers open a lot, in every game we've played so far. No, they're not running around in the endzone, waving their arms for minutes but you're not going to get close to that kind of open in the NFL unless someone falls down!
I'm not saying it's ALL his fault but if he was even in the discussion of Elite, he could have had 2 more TD's last night.

Our defense used to bail us out in games for quite a while. It's time for our Offense to do that now. With a crappy defense, we need 40pts a game. It's either that or get better players!

At one time we had a Superbowl winning team, but since then we've done nothing but gone down hill, because we gave the Superbowl team away or cut them. And since that time we have made nonsensical picks in the draft, keeping a secondary that was bad last year and is even worse this year, and the defense is just bad. The coaches and the FO have made a mess of this team, trading away top notch players and getting nothing in return and accepting mediocrity over superiority is the way the FO and coaches operate since the retirement of Ray Lewis. When the owner told Ray Lewis the team was his, the Ravens stayed at the top of their game, when Ray retired the team was decimated by the ones who took over, and what we have now is the Ravens in name only. For we have fallen from the top of the NFL straight to the bottom, and the only ones who we can blame is the FO and coaches, for they are the ones who put this team on the field, smash mouth football is no longer in Baltimore, Md. I'm just saying!!! But after all is said and done, GO RAVENS, if the team can!!!

Very well said and I totally agree w/it all. Be prepared to hear all the jaws flapping about salary caps now. Funny thing, the team up in NE ( and others)never seem to have the same issues. They lose players and have injuries just the same as every team, every year. Again....you hit it right on. Get ready for all the purple kool aide chuggin' fans to neg away. The truth hurts sometimes.

5 games, 5 blown 4th quarter leads. Pees needs to figure out how to stop those late drives. Every game it's the same. The ravens could be 5-0 if they had a better DC that wasn't so damn predictable when protecting a lead. He's playing not to lose and that's killing us. He leaves t much of a cushion and they dink and dunk it down the field.

Yeah, Below Average Joe didn't see him, since he always just locks in on the one guy he wants to throw to and if that guy isn't open, he freaks. Next game, just spend time watching him when he goes back to throw. No pump fakes, nothing but locking his eyes on one guy.

Considering the injuries, the offense is doing a good job. The problem I see is the defense is actually watching their opponents catch every long pass, then can't catch up to them fast enough to tackle them. Try keeping up with the receivers and break the plays up. That might help stopping them from gaining long yardage so fast! Maybe its time for a new defensive coordinator!
