Top 5 Draft Pick?

222 posts in this topic

I'm going to tell you now this isn't going to happen unless Ozzie feels really really confident, like 100% sure, he can still get him. There's evidence supporting the notion that the Ravens want to get an elite talent behind Suggs now that can be his long-term replacement. Steve himself said he'd like a pass rusher earlier this year before the draft. I also recall rumors that we wanted Alvin Dupree before he went to Pittsburgh. A report came it recently that we tried to trade up to get Mack in 2014.

I really think we're going pass rusher and taking the elite talent. I know Ozzie likes draft picks, but this could be a top 5 pick. I'm not sure he passes on a top 5 player.

All of that points to us grabbing Bosa, which I would love. I think he's what we need, but if you're taking a guy like that you expect him to be on the field day 1 and making an impact. If that's the case then you have around $17 million in cap space tied up between Bosa, Suggs, and Dumerville. Do you cut/trade Suggs or Doom? Do you just rotate all three of them?

I'm going to play devil's advocate for every scenario all year long for every scenario. I love the thought of having so many options having a pick this high, can't ait to see how Ozzie and DeCosta handle it.

I don't think there really are questions about being able to get Bosa on the field with our combo that we have. Lets say Suggs comes back and is fully healthy he is every down kind of guy. Dumervil at his best is a pass rush specialist and is not a first down type of guy--we have done this in the past with Upshaw, currently can't do it now...Upshaw likely gone next year and Bosa slides into the role of early down Edge guy...when Doom comes in and Suggs still there slide Bosa inside on the DL and we have a great interior and outside pressure. so short answer rotate/bring Doom back to his pass rush specialist role

I like the devils advocate thing as it is needed when looking at options so by no means trying to bust the thought here..I just really like the idea of Bosa as it allows you to use each player at his best place for the next 2 or 3 years...Bosa as an interior rusher on third downs can wreak havoc, Doom as a pure outside 3rd down pressure is his calling and Suggs always in there hopefully still rings true for a couple more years.

Actually, I think that was one of the complaints about Ngata coming out of college. It's the reason he fell to 12th overall, despite being the best defensive lineman in that draft. However, during his rookie season he had Ray Lewis standing right behind him to make sure he was giving it his all. The Ravens don't have a figure like that to push Bosa if he was the pick. That could definitely be a valid concern.

They may not have Ray Lewis, but Suggs will be back.

Let me ask you a question: if I told you that Goff will be the next Aaron Rodgers do you still feel the same? I'm not saying he will. Again, I'm not even saying we should take the guy over other top players. Only wondering how your perspective changes if he's the next Rodgers.

unfortunately there's no way of knowing that. What if rynner is the next Rodgers and he's right under our noses? You can what if until the cows come home ...but the fact is we have a franchise qb that we know can take us the distance as he's already done it...the only thing we are missing is a few weapons. We make a few additions on both sides of the ball and we could be looking at a new dynasty. We will get flacco extended..he doesn't wanna be anywhere but Baltimore and we know he's our guy. Give the man some damn help.

I've been all over Bosa as our first pick up until this point, but the more I watch of him and the Ravens, the more I think we need to trade back a few spots and get an extra 2 this year and an extra 1 next year. That should give us enough new talent this year to end the "rebuild phase" and then enough next year to put us back into the elite team category

Depends on the offer we get. In my experience fans get too overhyped about trade possibilities and get underwhelmed by the trades that actually do happen (or get disappointed when there's no trade because the best offer wasn't what they wanted).

Now with all of that said, if we do trade back I want to see a 1st for next year included at the very least. If we pick the right team to trade with (that sucks next year and ends up with a top 10 pick) that'd get us within touching distance of Fournette. I want us to build a genuinely dominant running game so we take Tunsil in the top 10, C Evan Boehm out of Missouri on day two or day three and Fournette next year, and there's no reason Joe couldn't win multiple Lombardis imo.

But like I say, it probably won't happen because fans get so enamoured with the possibilities that the possibilities don't tend to be realistic (the above paragraph is a case in point, haha).

Yeah. If we take Bosa, which I'm sure we would, we'd just have three great pass rushers. There's nothing wrong with that. Dumervil and Suggs aren't young and I think they'll both be out of the league in three years time. I think both contracts expire in two years, too.

Yeah I don't disagree. I'm personally for us taking a different position. I'm just saying I don't think picking Goff would be the worst thing we could do.

I meant to add something to this effect. I don't care how much money is tied up in pass rushers, if Bosa's the BPA you take him. You can never have too many talented pass rushers.

I think a lot of people are sleeping on Emmanuel Ogbah. I love this guy and if we trade back and are still in the top 10-15 I'd definitely choose him to be the heir to T-Sizzle. He's smart, he's tenacious, explosive, and hard-working

I gotta watch more of him. He's on my list for sure.

One thing i noticed about Ramsey, he seemed to always be making a play, being in the area of a TO, either forcing one or returning it.  I think we really need a player like him.  A Ed Reed type of play maker ballhawk that we have lacked since 12.
