Top 5 Draft Pick?

222 posts in this topic

Who would you grab? I think we have a legit chance at drafting in the top five! We're bad enough to qualify. Might be a blessing in disguise if we end up with a future hall of famer.

Bosa??

Bosa is still probably going to high for us. I'd really like a pass rusher if we pick in the top 10, but not sure there's one good enough after Bosa. Vernon Hargreaves could fix a lot of our issues on defense. We'd be able to leave him and Jimmy on islands and get more creative with the blitzes (although we would need a new DC for that).

Now now there's nothing this bad defense can't do for us to get a high draft pick!

I like Hargreaves. But I think Floyd and Callhoun are worthy of going in the top 10.

thats nick bosa, joey bosas little brother whos being recruited out of high school atm.

bosa is going first overall unless the top picking team is incredibly stupid, and even if they are stupid he is gonna just go 2nd.

in short, we arent getting him

You never know. Have you seen the movie Draft Day? Teams might panic because it turned out no-one went to his birthday party and everyone else thinks something's wrong with him if the first team passes on him. And we could trade three second-rounders to the Jags to get into the top 10 to pick him up.

Totally realistic stuff here. :P

the unrealistic part is implying that we arent already picking in the top 10 lawl

I know it's not a position the Ravens need help at but Robert Nkemdiche would be hard to pass up if he fell to the Ravens. Otherwise I'd say Treadwell, Jaylon Smith, or Hargreaves.

I want Bosa. He'd be a great get for the team. I think he's still an option. You never know what'll happen. If we're picking as high as it looks, I don't see why we can't get him.

One pick I wouldn't be opposed to in the right circumstances, but I think would go down about as well as a tax hike, would be OT Ronnie Stanley from Notre Dame. Long-term he could be our best LT since Ogden.

He wouldn't be one of my first choices, but I wouldn't oppose it either. He can take over for Monroe after a year. It could possibly be a huge improvement for the o-line.

It'd be a very Ozzie Newsome kind of pick. Ignoring the pressing needs for the (theoretically) better player who fits a massive need long-term. We could probably put him at LG during his rookie year if we decide to let KO walk, and franchise LTs don't simply fall out of the sky so I certainly wouldn't be mad at the pick if we went that way.

I realize the intent of this thread is to talk about who we'd get if we were to get a top 5 pick and not about whether we actually want to get a top 5 pick.

I know a lot of people believe that, since we're not a playoff team, what is the point of finishing in the middle of the pack? Those people are in favor of seeing us tank and getting a really high pick.

Personally, I'm not on board with that approach. No doubt we're suffering from a lack of talent, but I don't think we have the talent level of a 4-12 or 3-13 kind of team. In order for us to get that pick, we will have had to give up as a team. That could be damaging long term.

I don't disagree that I don't like the idea of mailing in the season, but reality is that injuries are taking a toll on this team. They're mounting to a degree I don't think we can overcome.

I also want to keep our winning mentality intact, but there's nothing wrong with discussing what looks like a good possibility that we end up with a high pick.

Nothing wrong with it at all and, by all means, discuss what could be if we do hit rock bottom. I just thought I'd put in my 2 cents on how I feel about it, as I know it is something that many are now going to hope for .

Everyone copes with grief differently. Those people who say they want us to tank for a high pick aren't handling grief as we are since it seems we both feel the same, but that doesn't make them necessarily wrong. I think you know that, too, so I hope it doesn't come off as if I am lecturing you.

I really hate that this thread title is a legitimate possibility, but it's also really exciting at the same time.

If we pick in the top five, with the amount of compensatory picks we'll probably have, I'd trade up for Bosa... He'd be a bonafida superstar here.

But I am beyond enamored with Floyd.

Using the NFL's tiebreakers for the draft order, we would currently sit 7th through the end of week five. In fact below would be the current draft order...

1. Detroit Lions

2. Miami Dolphins

3. Tennessee Titans

4. New Orleans Saints

5. Houston Texans

6. Jacksonville Jaguars

7. Baltimore Ravens

Of course this only through week five. Right now the Lions have a strangle hold on the first pick, any of the 6 teams currently ahead of us would take Bosa. We would be in a position for Jalen Ramsey or a top corner, or WR.

If we're picking top 10, Hargreaves is a no-brainer pick. I used to debate between Hargreaves and Sutton, but I believe Hargreaves is the better player. If we sign a FS, then I'm certain Hargreaves would be a great piece to the defense.

I move that we turn this into a positivity thread. Every time we lose a game, this thread gets another gif of unbridled Bosa carnage.

I don't like the idea of tanking either, however even if we do try I think this team could still fall to a 5-11 or 6-10 season. The defense just gave up almost 500 yards to Josh McCown. It's very bad right now. 5-11 or 6-10 is good for at least top 8. I'd really like to trade up for that #1 overall pick though.

I'm not sure you're allowed to post that video on here.

It's suitable for mainstream culture, so I figure it can't be that bad.
