The good, bad and ugly vent Browns at Ravens.

802 posts in this topic

I never thought I'd see a day when Browns washed-up QB throws 450+ yards on Ravens D at M&T and they score 30 points.

I stand by my previous assessment of Dean Pees - his defenses of the previous 3 years were coached on the field by Ray, Ed Reed, Suggs, Ngata, D. Smith. It will be a tragedy if he is still Ravens coordinator come Monday. He can take DB coaches with him, too.

Pathetic.

I agree with you . Also release Babin . He's worthless

Agreed on all accounts. I even saw Eugene Monroe open up a lane on one of those stretches to his side. Those are some positives moving forward. I also wouldn't mind seeing Jeremy Ross remain on the active roster.

Ross is a guy I'd definitely keep, and as I alluded to in another post, I'd cut Marlon Brown for him.  I don't think Ross is a superstar or anything, but Marlon Brown has been on the field for far too many snaps to have the production that he has.  It's almost comical.

I wouldn't be against it tbh. We need so much help that multiple picks would help us.

Ya that makes sense too but 1 Julio Jones or Calvin Johnson and that's worth more than a few extra picks.

If we do pick high and all signs are pointing to that right now then get a real play maker don't trade back.

Heres the problem.....Do you really trust Ozzie Newsome in his venerable years to draft wisely?  Be serious.

CJ no coverage Mosely

Courtney no discipline Upshaw

Matt no tackle Elam

Sergio no gametime Kindle

Come on man.........Oz has KILLED us.

Can we hire the Seahawks GM PLEASE.............Pay him double Stevie B!

Babin is god awful. He did nothing but cost us penalties. He does more harm than good and doesn't even look like he wants to be out there.

There was a very good reason he wasn't on the field last week.

He sure killed us big time. He definitely does not look like a veteran. He is clueless.

I actually thought pees for once called a fairly well game its just kendrick lewis doesnt know how to play. will hill forgot how to play today as well as mosley... other than that... yea pees can go just one decently called in the last 37 games... yea he can get the walking papers... might as well slide TB in place of kendrick because he has yet to have an average game

I think we have the personnel to pull off a 4-3. It'd be too drastic to put him there in the middle of the season and expect us to become the 1985 Bears all of a sudden, but as far as offseason moves go I think we could do worse.

Idk if the 4-3 makes our coverage suck less

Jimmy smith - " we didn't come through today"

No crap Sherlock.

He never comes through when it matters, but he'll continue to collect that big check he doesn't deserve.

Well, I've been saying for two years that Pees needs to go. I think though, it's becoming apparent that our defensive player personnel are every bit as responsible as the bad scheming. Way too many missed tackles this year. Just poor fundimentals. And the drop off from the starters to the backups is drastic. I still think Pees needs to go - mostly because I think his style of defense is outdated and too easily shredded by journeymen and rookie QB's alike - but also because a change might be the spark we need to ignite the players on that side of the ball.

Also, guessing Babin is officially released tomorrow.

We're a bad football team this year. Ozzie's gonna need to answer for that too. Oh well. I guess we're spoiled. 2016.

Really? Just put up 30 pts with a JV receiving corps.

Did we get a WR TD?  Thought it was all Forsett and Flacco running.

anyway 44 is the new 30

30 points is nothing unless you have real defense. We do not.

As long as Pees goes first I'm okay with that.

Both can go. But Hewitt needs to be fired asap. He cannot influence our db. He is poison.

As bad as this WR group is, I think we can now shut down all talk of who we need to trade for. There is no reason to expend draft picks to try to shore up our 2015 problems.

Find the weak links:

Lardarius Webb

Jimmy Smith

Kyle Arrington

Rashaan Melvin

Tray Walker

Will Davis

Will Hill

Kendrick Lewis

Terrence Brooks

Dean Pees

TBH there are some weak links in there but the weakest link with the available evidence is Dean Pees. This is not a just this season problem. Since 2012 when Pees took over, we've lost 24 games. 13 of those games have been the defense giving up the lead in the 4th quarter. That means that 54% of our losses since Pees took over at DC have been 4th quarter defensive melt downs. That does not even take into account the games where the defense gave up the lead and the offense managed to get it back and win the game.

Bring Ray Lewis #52 in to be a defensive coordinator I bet he could get this defense fired up and he knows enough about defense to call the right plays at the right time.

In all honesty Flacco missed wide and i mean WIDE open receivers. Not sure what he was looking at at some points in the game. But there were many bright spots. Aikens did show a glimpse, Allen is a force in the backfield and Mosley is not allowed to cover anymore..

I do not know if Pees is all to blame here though. I mean he did some bad play calls but our Defense seems to slack off. They have not played for an entire complete game of solid ball all season. Not sure if it is stamina or what and the penalties just have to stop.

CJ was an all pro

Upshaw is a good run stuffer

Elam I'll give you. But that draft class was a crapshoot.

Sergio? You're blaming Ozzie for Sergio? Get a clue.

For all the good things the O did in the 1st quarter and a half, the failure to put the game away is what gave our D a chance to lose yet another game.  This team lacks killer instinct and it has been gone since players like Boldin and Pollard were cast away.

The browns secondary is also JV quality minus Haden and Gipson so the fact that the guys couldn't make anything happen is sad.

have you guys lost it... so just take away the only good player on defense in brandon williams out of his ailment.. the only player i see thriving in a 4-3 is lawrence guy as an inside tackle

Ozzie and his team were way too optimistic about the abilities we had this season in the secondary and at receiver .

This fiasco is on him

For sure.  Givens and Davis were trades that didn't mortgage much of the future.  Any serious "fix" is going to cost big and I'm not sure it's worth it unless we can find a long-term piece.

I agree with regards to Brown. Ross also has a preexisting resume as a return specialist and therefore should be able to create some in space.

So now what? It doesn't count unless a WR catches it? 44 is NOT the new 30. Please. You should not have to put up 40 pts to win even in the new NFL. That is baloney.

Flacco is responsible for 3 TDs today and one of his biggest critics isn't roasting him right now. He was fine. Just because he's not a good fantasy QB doesn't mean he can't do this. Flacco alone is not capable of winning games. Very few QBs can. He needs a defense as football is a team sport.  If we had a defense we'd be a playoff team.

This is a completely false statement.

Ozzie has to catch some flack for this team. I think the time for Eric DeCosta to take over is rapidly approaching.

I agree with you to a point however if we were to get a savvy veteran he would be on the team for the next few years to help out.
