WR's stepping up

I'm with you, for the sake of evaluation too. I would love to see Perriman cook as well.

Ya. I want to see him and see what he can do for us. It's just too bad on how his rookie year has panned out so far.

It def. is a disappointment. Largely due to the fact of how disappointing this rookie WR class has been overall, I feel that if Perriman never suffered that injury, he would be in a good position to prove people wrong who bashed our pick.

Oz and the scouts saw something in him. Right now in all honesty I just hope he is a durable player and does not get hurt all the time. I think he has the tools to be great but he is going to have to be on the field to prove people wrong. It's all in Perrimans hands though when he gets his chance he has to take it and never look back.

I think Givens has the potential to be as good as Torrey was, which can make him a solid #2 receiver for the Ravens. They just still need to find a #1 (not sure if SSS can still be that if he comes back, and the jury is out on Perriman).

You make some valid points. I Agree. I hope SSS does come back I think mentally SSS can and always will be a true #1 WR but the big question is physically after an injury like that but I can guarantee you if he decides to come back I would never bet against him guy has heart and is one of my all time favorite Ravens.

He will probably never be a number 1 unless he shakes the health issue which has plagued him. In order to be a number in my book you also have to be healthy most of the time. This is shaky out the gate. i'd make a 2$ bet and thats it. I hope he stays healthy most of all for himself. And I'm certainly pulling for him to succeed.

Apparently Chris Givens has been moved from sixth in the depth chart to second. About time if you ask me. Whether he's been all that productive or not, at least he brings some speed to the offense. Defenses have to respect that. Hopefully this opens things up for Kamar and Crockett.

Chris Givens will be the #1 WR by seasons end. Aiken will be #2 by default. Givens in my opinion is going to be better than Torrey. My opinion he is similar to Emmanuel Sanders in speed, ball skills, decisiveness in routes. However he is not quite as fluid as Sanders and has slightly more wasted motion than Sanders in his cuts breaks and in eluding tacklers. Not to say he has a lot of wasted motion because he doesn't. He just is not quite as fluid as some of the elite WRs 6'0 and smaller which causes some stutter stepping in routes sometimes and while a very decisive route runner, his routes are not quite as fluid and deceptive as the great smaller WRs. But routes are sharper than Torrey's and he is very good at tracking and adjusting to throws. Very good speed and acceleration with very good athleticism attacking throws but not exactly explosive ball skills like Antonio Brown. He does not need to gear down when adjusting to a throw. All in all he will be the ravens #1 WR and a very good legit #2 next to a legit #1WR. It would of been nice to see him play alongside SS and Campanaro. Just my opinions.

I've always liked Givens and said as much when we traded for him. I understood that his speed and ability to stretch the field would be emphasized for him over running the full route tree.

I never quite understood why people were so quick to dismiss Joe's accuracy throwing him the ball. I'm not sure people realize that throwing deep balls is very much contingent on the prerequisite of chemistry between the QB and WR more than the short and intermediate routes.

It's not easy to time someone's deep speed when you trade for them after week 3 with no training camp or preseason acclamation. I don't think it's much surprise that he and Joe are finally connecting now that he's been here for about six weeks.

I hope Givens stays for next year and we resign the man. He's easily the best healthy WR on the roster until furthur notice and can be a very good #3 for us I think

I agree. I'd like to see us add a possession wr... Givens, BP, then a possession guy would be a very good compliment to each other

Right now with how the season has gone so far and how the Ravens WR position has been this year as a whole I think all the players are playing for future contracts or their walking papers. They either shine now or they get let go.

Even Favre struggled throwing to Moss in Minnesota.  Not as simple as plug and play like you said.

Favre had one foot in the grave forcing touchdowns to moss so don't even act like that is a norm and not an outlier

I actually think the Flacco connection with Givens has been pretty good from the start.

-He didn't see him running open once in SF, but that was third down, people have been on him and the offense all season for going deep on those plays instead of taking a higher percentage throw to move the chains, and Flacco hit another receiver in the hand that play to do just that except it was dropped. Later that game he did try to go deep, but it really looked like Givens couldn't find the ball right away and that threw it off. That was his first game with us, right?

-Against Arizona, the ball was under thrown on the first deep pass to Givens, but really only slightly. That was an excellent play by the DB to break it up, and if he hadn't it would have been hardly noticeable that Givens had to take a hop step to make the catch. Sometimes you do have to credit the defense. Late in that game, Givens got hit in perfect stride at the most crucial time to keep the final drive alive and get us down the field.

-Against SD, that last play against Arizona was built upon, and the connection looked amazing. That's was only his third game. This connection is already light years ahead of what the Flacco-Torrey connection was in four years.

I'm excited to see where this goes now because there seems to finally be a burner who can catch and has great timing with our QB. We can only hope when our rookie who is in witness protection finally plays that he clicks with Joe so quickly.

His connection is starting to click, but imo saying it light years ahead of Flacco-Torrey is ridiculous.

Agree, we can only hope that the Flacco-Perriman connetion clicks as quickly, but Perriman is a rookie who had one day of training camp and not even a full day at that.

It is an indicator.  Favre said to the media that throwing the deep ball to Randy was different, moreso than the differences throwing deep to other receivers.  There are differences.

I respectfully disagree. Flacco and Givens didn't look like they had that chemistry developed, but I do agree that they've built on it and it's coming to fruition now. You even state that the ball was a little under thrown and they built on that against SD.

I think it's all semantics, though, and you're welcome to your assessment. I just feel like it's a connection that's slowly established but it's clearly coming together now and hopefully today we see it truly materialize.

Not Givens. Everyone else can go.

I want Givens to stay too. This next draft Oz needs to really look at the WR and DB plus pass rusher positions.

Givens, Aiken(cheap depth. It's needed), and Perriman(Who deserves a chance) can stay. We need an overhaul.

Truth be told....every single ravens receiver aside from SSS is garbage. Release them all!

Yeah its the end of November. Lets cut ALL of our recievers. Thats a GREAT idea.

Who cares about the consequences, we will have made our point.

I am sure there are FAR better recievers just sitting on the couch eating Cheezy Poofs just waiting for Ozzie to call.

Aiken probably wouldn't be bad in the slot. But Ozzie and Decosta needs to start evaluating WRs in the draft asap. Going after old (aside from SSS), journeymen, and UDFAs will only hold this team back.

Torrey and Joe were awesome. I think you forget Torreys first game against the Rams. They clicked instantly
