WR's stepping up

175 posts in this topic

Bingo. Ross and Givens look explosive. I would start SSS and Givens with Ross in the slot and see if he can use some shiftiness to get open in the middle. I would also place Waller in front of Marlon and use Aiken sparingly. Campanaro was supposed to be that slot receiver, but he's of no value when he's always injured even though he's flashed some major potential when he sees the field. So sad. Ross and Givens look hungry when they're out there, and that's exactly what the offense needs.

Good points.

Speaking of WRs stepping up, another big day for Steffon Diggs!! To all the peeps that got angry and rude when I said Diggs and Lockett would be better than Perriman....

They didn't trade for Givens just to let him go. If he shows a certain skill set to actually get open and catches everything that comes his way. They wouldn't let him leave without a decent offer. I think he's a missing piece of the puzzle.  As his skill set coming out college would seem to suite what we need as far separation and the ability to find creases. Go watch his tape from college.

They always bring in prospects that they had interest in during the draft process and they either don't get to select or whiff on the selection. Which is even more disturbing because you interviewed the prospect and didn't see the value and he was in your building. That also leads me to believe they aren't evaluating them correctly. I sure hope it's not the talking portion(lifestyle) of the process. They must be sleepy  while they're working out some of these guys.

well we don't know the answer to that yet do we? I do wish we would've grabbed diggs though, we had every chance to grab both, and in hindsight he could've been our insurance to stretch the field when perriman went down. Edited by January J

I feel like every week Kamar makes a tough catch that doesn't count because he is out of bounds or something lol

I wonder if we'll see the debut of Perriman in 2 weeks now that Smitty is most likely done for the season.

Yeah, 2 weeks into the 2016 season maybe.

If he could Smitty would play on that torn achilles.

Meanwhile Perriman's knee boo boo will keep him on the sideline until 2017.

Givens is the most talented receiver we have on the roster now, at least until Perriman actually takes the field. If nothing else, Flacco will have a ton of speed to throw to...

I like what I've seen from Ross, Givens, and even Aiken. Marlon Brown should be cut for anyone. I'd rather have Frank Walker than him. That guy is good for dropping balls and blocking. He literally does nothing. You can't win with him and you can't trust him.

I do want to point out how getting rid of Jacoby looks like a great decision, he has done absolutely ZERO in San Diego

Frank Walker sighting!!! He did play lights out in the playoffs for some reason. Never understood why he couldn't in the regular season

I think most of the fans are still missing an important aspect. Flacco tends to ignore some of his options and Givens and Ross have shown separation during games only to run back to the huddle. SSS was targeted at overwhelming rate. His stats are bound to be eye popping. I truly believe if the team deemed it essential that Flacco wants to receive his estimated /restructured  contract going forward. He'd be required to train with his wide-outs and host a skilled player's mini camp. Leading a group of moving parts that have different skill-sets would seemingly dictate and warrant such a clause. Sort of leading by example. Playbooks are scripted guidelines/strategies. If you help write the book then you seemingly can write the positive endings. Barring the intangibles. There has been a lot of wasted opportunities and Flacco/organization bares responsibility. Learning the tendencies of each when a play breaks down is what Roth, Brees, Brady, Manning have likely inserted into their playbook's in order to maintain drives and cohesion. The television camera angles don't fully tell the positions of receivers. From a live angle. I'm like why didn't you hit Givens in the flat. Ross was wide open in the seam. Heroic's are special and not the norm. Progression……………

He didn't hit them most of the because they were the 3rd or 4th option on the play and he usually doesn't have time go through his progression the way Manning or Brady would.

I think it's called buying time outside the pocket RaineV1. Most QB's don't have ample time to get to the third progression in the grand scheme of the initial play designed.

Honestly I do believe Flacco does tend to lock onto a target Pitta/Boldin Mason/Heap and this year it was Sr hopefully he can see the field better without locking onto one guy and see what these guys can do

Kubiac's scheme didn't allow for that imo. He(Joe) had his moments when he did and kubiac changed the play call accordingly. I don't even think the coaching staff recognizes that tendency. I've never heard a post game interview that suggest he needs to utilize the whole receiving corp and effectively. I'd go to sleep too, if you refuse to throw me the ball. A couple of plays a game (if not more) the receivers must cursing Flacco on the way back to the huddle. Somebody buy Flacco some contacts/near-far sighted. Near sighted cause I saw it (why didn't he) Far sighted because he needs to be consistent going forward.

1. KAMAR

2 Ross

3 Perriman (if/ When/ hope)

4 Givens

5 Butler

6 Brown ( yeeeaahhh ummm)

I'd legit start Perriman. Its good for evaluation and quite frankly he's better than all of those guys.

I have no idea what the depth chart is goin to look like now. Our corps is in shambles. Will be interested to see where joe Morgan fits in. Would've rather brung in Daniel brown.

Of course, neither have Boldin nor Torrey. Except against our infamous defense anyway. Imagine their stats if they didn't play us.
