WR's stepping up

175 posts in this topic

doubt waller is gone though.

he looked really good on special teams which buy him time to also develop as a WR.

I agree Waller is one of our best special team players as a gunner.

Saw something on rotoworld that Bowe could be cut. Could be a nice low risk, high reward for this year and next. Still only 31.

Bowe looks finished in the NFL.  I don't know to what extent his injuries have been, but whatever it is they sapped him of what explosion and athleticism he had.  If the Browns cant get him on the field how would we?

No that's my point, we have a better receiving corps when healthy then they do.  Bowe cannot even get on the field over a guy like Hartline, we would have no use for him here.  A lot of our problems on offense center around our lack of explosive players, Bowe is exactly what we don't want/need.  If anything Ross and Givens should be given more time this season and next year we will have new draft pick(s) and probably a veteran wideout like V-Jax or Garcon to go along with Perriman, Campanaro, Waller and whoever else

I honestly think any WR would be licking their chops right now to play for the Ravens. Besides SSS none of the guys have stepped up. Man if you want to play in the NFL  when you get your shot to shine you had better take it and never look back.

and didn't they realize only 1.6% of  NCAA football players make to pro? out of 254 drafted and 15k to 70k undrafted....

Those who are drafted are not guaranteed to see the field in 1yr or more and few of them offered big contract.

Therefore, UFA players better play 200% when opportunities presented cuz they are not going to see it for a very long time, not including thousands of college players going undrafted and forced to get 9-5 job....

There aren't any place better than the Ravens for any WR to showcase their ability and increase their chance for big paid day.....Marlon Brown and Aiken are the two lucky players, out of like thousand of players who couldn't get any opportunity...

I think he actually meant the Browns receivers are better than ours...

Hard to disagree

I apologize then I read it wrong.  Nonetheless I don't think we have any use for Dwayne Bowe this year or next year.  Now is the time we stop signing/trading for players and play who we have in hopes we find out who deserves a spot next year.  We need all the draft picks and cap space we can get for next year.  I just wish we would play Ross, Givens and Waller more.  It wouldn't hurt to bring Jeremy Butler up as well.

I'd like to see us bring Jeremy butler up as well. At this point I would much rather have him playing than Marlon brown.

Proven wrong again.

One game Givens: 3 rec 25 yards

Whole season so far Waller: 2 rec 18 yards

Lets not waste time on garbage pile.   Both are gone next year.   Waller will do much less than Givens.  I'll choose the lesser evil and use Givens.

No chance on Waller he is a core ST guy. The rest who cares none of them will land anywhere if they get cut

Waller is a beast on ST, we need to keep him. Out of all of the WR's on this roster, I would only keep Waller, Ross, Breshad (obviously) and Givens next season assuming SSS retires. Campanaro is always hurt, Marlon has butterfingers and no speed, and Aiken is a journeyman with no real value. Ozzie needs to totally revamp the WR situation this offseason.

So I have Kamar on my fantasy (long story).. but I saw it said that he could lose snaps and the #2 WR to Perriman. I'm confused I thought Perriman was done

he's not on the IR so no he's not done. Atleast not yet. I expect to see him after the bye week. If not then who the heck knows.

That is so true!  Our receivers are trash in comparison to many others.  I say that cause we keep hearing the same things about them over and over and over and over again...they can't get separation!

This week should be like

1. STEVE.

2. KAMAR.

3.ROSS

4. GIVENS

5.BROWN

6. WALLER

Steve and Aiken 1-2 is no doubt. Ross I feel has earned some time at 3, but I feel we split Givens and Waller at #4. Brown I think should be bottom of the chart

I would like to see Ross and Givens get the start beside SSS. What have we got to lose. Besides Aiken and Brown have been  average at best this season.

That'd be an intersting combo to see.

I agree...  Givens caught both passes thrown his way last week.

How much worse could it be from what we have been seeing out of the WR squad? I think it could be very interesting too Mili.

Love to see it.

Like what I've seen from Ross and we brought Givens here so let's see more of him.

I agree with both of you on this! I'd love to see them on the field together.

I'm mainly focused on seeing the development of Waller than anything else they do with the WR's this season. Ross and Givens both have potential for this season, but they are both FA beyond this year. Fingers crossed Waller can grow into what we all hope and Perriman can at least be halfway decent to where we can run 1) FA WR 2) Waller 3) Perriman next year

For better or worse, Aiken is your standard Ravens' receiver. He'll have one good game, vanish for the next two or three, and then having another decent game. As for Brown, he's just steadily regressed. At this point, why not focus on Ross and Givens? They seem to be at least trying to get more playing time.

Yep the Ravens have brought these guys here we might as well use them. Besides both Ross and Givens have not looked bad with the chances they have got.

Bingo. Ross and Givens look explosive. I would start SSS and Givens with Ross in the slot and see if he can use some shiftiness to get open in the middle. I would also place Waller in front of Marlon and use Aiken sparingly. Campanaro was supposed to be that slot receiver, but he's of no value when he's always injured even though he's flashed some major potential when he sees the field. So sad. Ross and Givens look hungry when they're out there, and that's exactly what the offense needs.
