They're stepping up and taking over RT right now with all these threads.

Aiken will get the first shot to step up, followed by Brown and newly acquired Givens.

I don't know about anyone else but Aiken, he's stepped up twice but has been shutout twice. We need him for this game. Im mum on Brown and Waller.

All of them have a legitimate shot at stepping up this week. It's just up till now none of these guy have. To be fair Givens just got here and Waller has not been on the field that much.

Givens was 5 hundredths of a second faster than Waller at his Combine and that was a few years back.  I am really not certain that Givens can even best Waller in a 50 yard dash.  Until Perriman gets back healthy, Waller may be our fastest WR.

Givens is probably the best chance we have of an unproven stepping up in this game.

Givens has had the least amount of time with the playbook, consequently I am not favoring him as the "Stepper Upper".  I do think he'll handle kick returns fine and am hopeful he gets off a nice one.

Aiken had a couple nice plays vs Pittsburgh.

If Joe gets protected our WR's will have a decent day.

Decent.

Agree and as a result it will depend upon who Joe selects.  Let's just hope Joe reads the field and doesn't decide to pre determine his throw, which he can fall into.  Or conversely, hold the ball too long waiting to see a guy so open theres no risk. That's Joe sometimes too.

Agree.  Waller has been open for scores though and the communication was not there.

Taushan Gipson is out, Id like to see us attack his sub with some deep passes. I think if we can hit on one or two the run game and play action will be wide open.

I thought they would activate Butler for this week but they added Ross..Ross is a good returner. I like butler though

I'd like to believe that Chris Givens could to a degree. It may not be much, a 9 yard end-around, perhaps 3 catches for 40 yards. As long as he stretches the field and forces to the defense to adjust to some degree, I'll consider it as stepping up. I am anxious to see what Kemar Aiken does. I thought he was impressive against Pittsburgh albeit the first reception.

Aiken has made plays IMO. I hope to see a deep connection to Givens, it would be nice to get him a good start.

Imo the 40 yard dash is as much about technique as it is about speed, not to mention actual play speed on the field. Perriman ran 4.24 at his pro day, but it's obvious that number slows down when you involve routes, defensive opposition etc. Also, people here have brought Waller's ability to get off the line into question.

The 40 yard dash timer starts as soon as the athlete moves. If you have shoddy technique and roll out of the gate, you easily lose some time on the field. I don't think it is representative at all of actual game speed. Having watched Givens' highlights, I definitely think he looks more quick/swift than Waller.

Givens finishes the day with 4 rec/83 yards/1 TD - one can hope and pray right

@DannyD, waller gets a hand in his chest at the line of scrimmage and the plays over for him, they may have had close 40 times but id be willing to bet the shuttle times were further apart because waller has slow build up speed and givens acceleration is more impressive than his top end speed, hes pretty fast, nothing spectacular, but he gets to full speed in 2 or 3 steps, thats the difference.

Everyone talking about Givens as if he's going to be some sort of savior. ..

Dude was buried on the Ram's depth chart, showed flashes of potential a few years ago..and can return kicks. .

I'm not banking on it.

The spot we're in right now is that desperate unfortunately.

Anybody know what Jacoby Jones is up to these days?

Agree 40's are not dispositive.  Waller ran a faster NFL Combine 40 than Jacoby Jones.

Waller's speed is late speed however. The longer he runs the greater he is going to separate. I truly believe he can best Givens in a 50 yard dash and is a better deep threat.

Put a hand in Aiken's chest and he can't separate either. Same is true of Marlon Brown. You know who a defender could not put a hand in his chest on?....Jacoby Jones.......he was never there for that.

I hope Givens provides the Step Up we are looking for, but I won't bet on it.

The Stepper Upper to my eye has to be Darren Waller.  He's the guy that can elevate us.  The timing is right where I'd thought it would be. He's gonna be number 3 on the chart and he's the one that I believe will begin to make the difference in this game.

We come home after 10 days rest.  We get Monroe back. We have the resurgence of our running game. Cleveland is not tops vs the run. Our defense played well last game.  I took us as my fantasy defense.  I'm all in on this one.

That may or may not be true, point is it would have to be on an empty practice field. 'Game speed' entails 'game conditions' and all that comes with that (defensive obstacles, mental pressure, catching the pass etc.)

At this point Givens has more experience, and has proven his deep threat ability against great defenders such as Richard Sherman.

I just want another WIN plz, go Ravens!

Proven wrong again.

One game Givens: 3 rec 25 yards

Whole season so far Waller: 2 rec 18 yards

Lets not waste time on garbage pile.   Both are gone next year.   Waller will do much less than Givens.  I'll choose the lesser evil and use Givens.

doubt waller is gone though.

he looked really good on special teams which buy him time to also develop as a WR.

I really have no idea what you tried to say.

SInce you may not recognize it let me state clearly for your edification what we have.

Exempting an injured Steve Smith, the receivers that played vs San Fran are garbage pile receivers.

Some opinions you assign greater weight to.

If Waller is ready to play this week we'll see.  Gonna be difficult without practicing last week.

Saw something on rotoworld that Bowe could be cut. Could be a nice low risk, high reward for this year and next. Still only 31.

Bowe is finished honestly. Guy has no motivation.
