[News] Ravens Wide Receivers Fired Up By Doubters

90 posts in this topic

Please, please, prove them wrong! I think we will rely heavily on the run this week, which should open up more opportunities too.

The Rodney Dangerfield act is not a new one. In the end, it doesn't matter. You've got to go prove the doubters wrong.

I mean, we're talking about 2 undrafted players with minimal experience another who is a 6th round rookie and another who just changed teams. I'm not sure what they would expect people to be saying.

Turning point in our season if they come out and play well and prove they are capable options for moving the chains. I expect Aiken to have a good game. Idk if he gets a td but I expect him to get atleast 6 catches and 75 yards. Marlon I think get 4 catches for 40 yards and td. I think Flacco connects deep with Givens for a big play leading to a td. probably 3 catches 60 yards and td for him. A lot of short intermediate stuff to our TEs and Running backs this week also. 30-13 Ravens win.

To be honest, I really don't care if they are pissed off. They are simply not good enough, and pretty much all of this receiving core probably won't be here in a year or two. That's the cold hard facts of it.

Playing pissed off is the way to start, by channeling that anger in to a hyper-focus a la SSS. Find your intensity and heart, every snap, every route, every contested catch, every down.

I hope it's true we have heard this before in times past and they never seem to deliver when its their time to step-up. I hope they do prove all the nay-sayers wrong.....

Aiken will be fine he may not have the speed, but he's been a pretty consistent possession wr. hopefully givens can provide a spark and bring some explosion to the offense. However, I've lost faith in Brown. Honestly speaking, our wr group wasn't that strong to begin with, and yet he continually found himself losing snaps to other wrs in the group because of his inconsistency. I'm pretty sure he'll be losing more snaps to Waller

These receiver need to get their stuff together. Stop being scared to be a leader and step up, you can't be content in that small role shell forever.

I really hope these guys step-up and show people they deserve to be out there. Right now in all honesty I have the opinion that none of these guys have proven themselves to be a viable or true starter in this league maybe a 3rd string player at best. I do know all of them have talent but I honestly don't think any of these guys could be in the same spot of any one of the other 31 teams depth charts that they currently are on the Ravens. They are the only ones who can prove people wrong and I really hope they make people including myself eat their words.

please cut out marlon brown from the mix, play more of waller to increase his confidence and throw it high for him to jump over defenders

marlon jumping ability sucks, hes overrated, dont like him!

I've said this a few weeks ago, but now I'm even more convinced we need to work more 2 TE sets like the Patriots. Wrs lack depth, but we have 3 very serviceable TEs when Gilmore gets healthy

We now have the deep threat to pull off some defenders from the middle of the field.  On the other hand, as I understand it, the Browns d-line isn't that great against the run, so that will bring their LBs closer to the line of scrimmage.  So the middle of the field could be more open than it has been.  With SSS, Gilmore and Campanao out, I think our current crew of recievers will get ample opportunities to show their worth.  Find out Sunday.

What's the deal with perriman; is he going to play this year, or are they going to sit him down

His recovery was slow so he got surgery. Will take a couple months to heal. Probably won't see him back until after the bye week.

I wonder how people's perception of Flacco would be if he had an A J Green, Calvin Johnson or a Julio Jones to throw to.....but then again Brady hasn't had a star receiver to throw to since Randy Moss and he seems to do OK.

Im going to keep doubting...because on 99% of teams these guys dont start. They cant get open, and they dont catch the ball on a regular enough basis to have faith in them. This isnt 4 Smith Sr's running around breaking ankles catching everything in range and making defenses look stupid at 36.

They are who we THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!!

A BUNCH OF No.3-4 WRs especially Aiken and Brown...

Waller I'll give a pass cause hes a rookie

No, he's got Gronk.....  Take that away and see where they land.

For a Minute I actually thought Steve Sr did a Veteran move and took himself out of the game to see which other WR would step up in Prime time. When he didn't come back in the game I knew it wasn't a good look. Joe and Steve were starting to look like the Mason years again

Did you miss Wes Welker there and Edelman who isn't amazing but has great hands and speed and the best offensive player in the NFL in Gronk. The reason that the Patriots sometimes do so well with little is because of their scheme. Short passes means less chances of it being picked off. They rely on YAC and they have the speed to do it. If you stop the short routes Brady cannot throw the ball deep to save his life. Like I said before Flacco has no help whatsoever. Bengals have Green and Eifert, with one of the best running back duos behind Dalton. Steelers have the best running back in the league right now (in my opinion) and Antonio Brown who is a top 5 talent. Browns HAD Gordon but he is stupid so.... Flacco has a 36 year old wide out as his number 1. I love Steve Smith and I think he is underrated and he is a hall of famer and went to school 10 miles away from me right now, but when he is our only threat on the offensive side of the ball it is not good. Forsett was a back up on every team he was on before and he has played alright between this season and last but he needs to step it up going forward. If Flacco had a legitimate target in his career I think the Ravens would not be close to losing every single game. People can argue Boldin but look what he has done since he left and he only averaged 800 yards a season here. Mason was on the tail end of his career when Flacco got drafted. Flacco will not be a hall of fame quarterback because of his lack of weapons, not because of him being inconsistent. Just think if Flacco and Ryan got switched in the draft. What do you think Flacco would have done with Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Tony Gonzalez his first couple years.

wow after reading these comments i see why the guys are pissed and so am i because ive seen all these receivers with the exception of waller have success in this league and the fact you call yourselves ravens fans just because they dont have spectacular numbers or high quality stats you doubt them. however i dont because i know and have seen when given the opportunity they are amazing and different receivers that can give us all sorts of match up advantages im gonna tell u a quote that always makes me think of the team "same thing thats makes you laugh will make you cry" that was by ray lewis and the more u doubt these guys the more motivation they have to prove not just u but the league wrong in the long run
