[News] Timmy Jernigan Working For More Playing Time

20 posts in this topic

I still have high hopes for timmy. It seems like that foot injury has lingered. He currently lacks the explosion off the line he had in his rookie season. The same could be said for ricky wagner. He's playing injured for sure...

DE actually makes sense. He likes to shoot the gaps which tends to pay off on passing situations, but hurts in the running game. Not that the way he plays is bad, just isn't suited for every down the way Williams and Davis are.

I want to see more of what I saw Last Week vs Steelers. On obvious passing situations..or could be passing situations..

You play the 4 Man D front Pass Rush front with Zdarius Smith,Jernigan,Dumervil, Babin/Daryl Smith..some conbination of.

And on running short yardage downs.. You plug in Carl Davis, and Williams to go with Dumervil, Z.Smith/Babin

So lasts weeks pass rush game plan needs to come to play every week

Hopefully, he's fixed the problem of hitting the quarterback 1.5 seconds after the ball is released. He's a very good player, more playing time should help him (and us) even more.

Jernigan has the potiental to be outright scary and dominate the offensive line like Brandon Williams. The only problem is Jernigan shows his immaturity at times and cost the team. It's a long season and by the end of it I'm excited to see how all of our young talented Defensive lineman are playing. We have a very bright future on the defensive side of the ball..

C'mon Timmy ... you were a steal in the 2nd round, or so we were told. I think the reason you slipped was the same reason why your time as been limited.

You showed a lot of promise last year, but I get the sense when we let Ngata go and penciled you into the starting line up, you lost a little edge. Coach is showing you, you've got to earn that spot every day.

Go out and get it.

Timmy is not a 3 down player quite yet. He doesn't have the stamina for a 60 minute ball game. He reminds me of somebody that has incredible speed and rush ability but can only do it for a smaller amount of time after which he is largely ineffective. At least that is what I think.

When we have a rookie outplaying someone as talented as Timmy Jernigan... we have to consider ourselves pretty lucky! Good problem to have~!

Jernigan played inferior teams which is why he played so well, Brown, Dolphins, Texans and Jags. This summer Jernigan said out of his own mouth he wanted sacks, that right there let me know he was more about himself than the team. And I called him out on it and got crucified for it. If you're suppose to be replacing Ngata sacks are not your job, keeping lineman off the linebackers and taking up space is your job. Until Jernigan gets that through his head he will never get any playing time and doesn't deserve any playing time until he knows his role

In a nutshell, I have not seen anywhere near the quality play we got from Haloti Ngata.

Never bought into the hype Jernigan was as good.

DTs coming out of college typically do not have a high level of proficiency in terms of two-gap techniques. Thus, the bigger guy does better just on space eating ability alone. This is probably why Davis is getting those snaps. But playing great two-gap technique is more than just learning the feel and body movements, it's also developing the core strength to stay leveraged and fight through the blocks. I'd question the Ravens coaching and strength program if a talented guy like Jernigan doesn't make the successful transition. He has the potential and niche ability, just doesn't seems to know how to refine it.

Timmy Jernigan is actually a good defensive player, he has a very high motor. The similar problem that both him and Williams have is that they are undersized compared to most other Offensive lineman. If he could shed the weight he would make a great OLB! That's just how my mind thinks, put some big bulls in the front 7 when you know the offense is most likely going to run the ball!

I remember times when Rex Ryan coordinated this defense, he would line up Haloti at MLB and let him run free!!

While watching the Rav- I mean Lions defense on Monday night, Haloti looked like he had lost a step and gained a few pounds. Ngata, Bynes, Wilson, Ihedibo - Caldwell snatched up all our guys.
