[News] Late For Work 10/8: Zombie Ravens Don't Know How To Stay Dead

46 posts in this topic

Never mind that 2/3 of TDs so far were scored by players not active for this week's game, I'm pretty sure we'll do alright. Love the walking dead analogy. Part of being a winning team is never giving up. 49ers will never lay their hands on Marshall Yanda. Ravens really won't let him go.

I've used the villain in a horror movie analogy already ... The Steelers had their chance to finish us off and they blew it. Now, we will come back to haunt.

People are saying that Yanda might leave just like Ngata. The difference is Ngata was "one" of the best where Yanda is "The" best. All backed up by performance stats. Teams just do not let "The Best" leave.IMO

We have a owner who ets that spending 140 plus mil in player salaries alone is not going to throw in the towel....A lot of cheddar to just give up after 4 games....That's why we have the best organization from top to bottom....

I believe that Haloti did not want to be here anymore but I don't know why. He had two chances to

renegotiate and stay with us and HE refused both times. He didn't give the Ravens a choice.

The Patriots are the #1 team that's hoping we stay dead.. No way do they wanna meet us in the playoffs this year, I have faith and still strongly believe our boys are making it to the playoffs this year.

Flacco doesn't need more or better WRs, look at Andrew Luck. He has great WRs but just like our team his offensive line cannot protect him longer than 2 seconds before the pressure is in his face. Let's hope Monroe can change that this weekend.

Please take the "The One Game At A Time" approach. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Ravens at 3-3 after the next two weeks. It also wouldn't be surprising to see the Ravens at 1-5 either given the injuries and another West Coast trip. ONE GAME AT A TIME.

I'm a little sick of the 49ers trying to get a piece of our cake. They got Boldin, Torrey, shoot... even the brother Harbaugh but I really hope the Yanda rumors are fake because that would just make the niners an envious organization. I don't even remember when the last time they beat us was. Our Receiving corps is paper thin and our play calling hasn't been A either but we can prove our identity if we mix in our backs and tight ends how Kubiak did it.

I like how a group of coaches stayed after practice to help Givens get up to speed. That is dedication. Kudos to you guys!! Now if only our secondary was out there providing coverage for Givens and working on their technique as well which has been mediocre as of late.

Rob Gronk, Levon Bell and Antonio Brown were drafted to their teams in the later rounds. So she can't put them in the same category as someone coming to a team or moving to a team or being drafted in the first rd. They're weapons because they were made weapons by the QB, That Thursday night game was a prime example with Antonio Brown. The Steelers offense is a lot different now that Vick is out there instead of Ben.So for Hensley or anybody else to repeat what he said or wrote is just foolish. Ravens had the chance to move up in the draft to get Dez Bryant but they didn't because they were to cheap and trade out of the first rd, they had the chance to draft the Gronk, Bell and Brown but they didn't. So stop comparing Flacco's weapons to other QB weapons when the Ravens had the same opportunity to draft these same guys.

I'm very happy we finally got out first win, but people are acting like we completely turned the season around already. I'm very optimistic if we can play the way we have the past 2 games while limiting our turnovers we should be fine. We need to blow out the Browns Sunday to send a message. I think if we can get wins against them and the 49ers going into the bye our season still has a chance. Our keys to success are not being predictable on offense and getting the ground game going. Receivers need to catch the freaking ball because Flacco outside of a few dumb passes has been gunning them in there any receivers are dropping them. Please do a ton of 2 TE sets with Gilmore and Maxx. And on defense we must play discipline football and get a good pass rush going to help the secondary. Go Ravens

"Brady has Rob Gronkowski"

Alright... But what happens when he's injured? Brady still manages to make the offense work even with nobody at RB or WR. Flacco can barely make the offense go when he has Steve Smith and Forsett in the backfield. And when something happens to one of them, the offense can't do ANYTHING. I'm not saying Flacco is bad, he's a heck of a lot better than any other options the Ravens have, but he doesn't deserve to be in the same conversation as the top tier QBs.

Lets get to 500 first before the talk "back from the dead" because you don't want a team like Cleavland to drive a stake thru your heart.

1. It's just a flesh wound.

2. History will long wonder what Flacco's stats would be like if he had an elite corp of receivers to throw to.

3. [not permitted]

4. Even if Givens is 50% ready, we need him. Just run fast and give the D something to worry about.

5. Been so long since I was 30 that I just can't think of that as old. :)

Ozzie: Please get Flacco somebody besides Steve Smith to throw to. Just one guy who he can count on under pressure, and who we can count on to stay in Baltimore more than 3 years. I'd hate for this franchise to look back one day and say, "Man, we really crapped away Joe's prime years. How many more rings could we have snagged if we had just had one more pass catcher?". Joe is one of the best QBs who whether we like it or not, has one of the most underperforming WR groups in the league. My only question is what could he do with a dynamic pass catcher like Antonio Brown, A.J. Green, or Julio. We may never know...

I think everyone is trying to be a star and forgetting the basic fundamentals.

I'm seeing some lazy route running at times and guys getting off their blocks before the whistle. The reason why guys like Ray Lewis, SSS and JJ watt are successful are because they have talent of course, but more than that, they have a real "Passion" for the game. That's where greatness comes from and if we expect to go very far this year or any other year, we need more guys with that passion than not, plain and simple! SSS can't do it all himself.

We have plenty of talent I think but we're lacking that passion across the board.

Sometimes, it takes being at the bottom of the heap, to get you to dig, up.

I do like the "Zombie" reference but like someone else mentioned, after just one lucky game, we're not there yet.

I still think its the coaches and the plays, the routes within those plays and the way they teach our players to run them. The reason SSS is so successful is he runs the routes HIS way. Same thing with Boldin and Mason. Our young receivers don't know how to get open. They cant seem to "read" when to fake and then to cut at the precise moment the coverage is off balance. Its an art and I sure hope Givens has that knowledge.

C'mon Sarah the problem with Joe is not just about his 120 million dollar contract, it's the stupid mistakes he's making at his position. If the play not there throw it away, even if you get intentional grounding it's better than an interception! Who throws the ball in blind faith Joe did, and many will agree that his footwork has been terrible throwing off his back foot does not make for accurate passing attempts. In business you want your top paid people to be efficient and minimize their mistakes, you hire people who are careless and sloppy you won't be in business very long!!!!!!!!!!!

Great comment and insight, sami!  I couldn't agree more. The receivers run routes, yes.  But they also have to run the route they are assigned based on the coverage.  If it's a zone, they have to find the soft spot to get open.  If it's man, they have to find a way to shake the coverage and get open.  In addition, the QB has to read the coverage and be on the same page as the receiver.  Is it zone?  Is the receiver going to sit down in the soft spot for the pass?  Is it man?  Where is he making his break?  Is the defender inside? Outside? Does my guy have a step?  At the end of the day it takes a combination of coaching/play calling that leans on the stregnth of the players on the field in combination with execution.  That has been a huge struggle for the Ravens thus far this season.  But then again, there are 23 other teams that are .500 or below, so we're not the only NFL squad struggling this season.  It's early, yet.  Let's hope Givens provides us a spark, the running game keeps it going after last week, and things start to click with our young guys stepping it up on O.

He's old and you take the money. I don't fault Ngata at all. How about your hobs tells you take a pay cut, when you've been one of the best at your position? For years we had him on discount.

I, personally, don't think Yanda goes anywhere. Something will be worked out and I think Joe reworks his deal.
