[News] Deep Threat Chris Givens Will Play Sunday

78 posts in this topic

Where do i buy my Givens jersey before they sell out!!!?….pffffff We need a real receiver, trade for Anquan back or Roddy White, Givens=Scrub

I agree. If he couldn't beat out a receiver on the Rams that says a lot about him, especially when they don't even have a receivers that could start on 90% of the teams in the league. The Ravens are grasping for straws and they're being cheap. I thought they learned their lesson when they brought in Lee Evans. Givens is no different than these WR we have now with the exception of Steve Smith.

Flacco needs a good WR if he could get a good WR the Ravens will play better... last time Newsome gave Flacco a good WR in Boldin, Ravens won a superbowl.

So...what is Steve Smith Sr.?  This attitude that we can just go to the local grocery store, go down the WR aisle, and put a "good WR" in the cart for checkout is ludicrous!  Your AMEX Platinum Business Card does not work here!

(1) Who's available?

(2) How much will it cost?

(3) Can we afford them (with a projected cap of under $2 mil., for which draft pick(s)/player(s), and contract (multi-years or rental))?

(4) And, of course, who does this added player replace on the roster?

All factor in to adding any player at this point.  Give Givens a chance to step on the field in OUR system before judging whether he's a "good" WR!

Let Ozzie do his job!

This is a running team and when they can run they can win. Now I'm not saying I don't want to see Joe put up big numbers in the pass game but I would rather see them get the win. I expect all three running backs to be very involved in the next few games. Hopefully this will set up play action and that is where I see Givens making a big difference.

hopefully, but evidentially talioferro is dealing with that foot injury again and hasn't practiced.would really love to have him for goal line situations.

Tavon Austin???  Really???   What the heck, Guys, I hate to say it, but they were high round draft picks for a reason.  Not because they were Rams.  Sheesh.  And if I remember correctly there were a boat ton of people SCREAMING for us to draft Tavon Austin.  And, even when we knew he wouldn't be around at #26.

SSmith, Sr. is just what his name implies - a SENIOR citizen in NFL terms! We'd have done better keeping Bouldin - period!

Givens, on the other hand, may pan out to be something special! It just remains to be seen if Joe will throw to him. Sunday Crockett Gilmore and Aiken will get 12 catches each because,.... well,.... that's Flacco!   :th_327321_Spy_23x22:

Not only will his presense allow us to take deep strikes downfield but his presence will also be something to add diversity to the entire offensive production, thus opening up run lanes in the 2nd level, and allow for chunk running plays due to the same. Givens has never had a strong arm to get him the ball, and in the right environment could literally blossom before our eyes in the coming weeks. While many have said that we need more, and we could obviously use it, this addition could at the same time give us the flexibility that we were "hoping" Perriman was gonna provide the Ravens. This kid has a positive track record and explosion...just what the Dr ordered

Yes! The fact we now 'have' a deep threat (SSS out on injury but he was our only deep threat) so when Steve is back in the game...2 deep threats...that will, at the least, keep our opponents guessing on what we'll do play by play. And unlike SL, I think Bal organization will give Givens more legit opportunities (in the beginning anyway) to see what he does with them.

Whoa! Givens must be bionic! He runs in slow motion like Steve Austin!

Here's hoping that Givens will prove to be a threat, and that Aiken will now have an easier time getting open.

Its Anquan Boldin for one, and the Ravens did try to keep him and restructure his contract, but BOLDIN not Bouldin did not want to do that, so instead of out right releasing him, the Ravens got what they could for him. I do wish the Ravens could have made something work to keep him here, but sometimes the numbers just don't work.

Not much to learn of the playbook for Givens, go routes, run fast and get open Flacco's arm will find you!! We need to spread the field and pull the defenses back so we can get this run game going. Our offense doesn't scare anyone and unfortunately neither does our defense :(

He may have to keep in mind that when SSS comes back and Perriman returns, his opportunities may go down a bit. However, he could be great on Special Teams and that is nothing to sneeze at.

Yeah Tavon Austin.. A 1st Rd draft pick and he's doesn't even start, he's the 4th WR on the depth chart. Just because you're drafted in the 1st rd doesn't mean you're the upper echelon. He's more of a kickoff and punt returner if anything.

You can keep arguing a name ("SENIOR") if you want.  I'll continue to argue his productivity as still one of the best in the league (check the numbers)!

As for Boldin, that ship sailed long ago and continuing to cry about it won't change it...so, time to GET OVER IT, AND MOVE ON!!!
