[News] Baltimore Colts To Be Presented New Hall Of Fame Rings Sunday

33 posts in this topic

Lenny Moore lived on Yosemite Avenue, around the corner from me in NW Baltimore for well over 2 decades beginning in 1964 when we moved there from West Baltimore!

I was privileged to know him and Jim Parker and their families, personally, through my dad, a Hall of Fame athlete from Morgan State in the 30s and a recreation director for Baltimore City!

Northwest Baltimore was a Black sports figures Haven for the teen-aged athlete that I was! :D

Orioles Frank Robinson and Curt Moulton lived on Cedardale, within 6 blocks, other Colts Jim Parker and Tony Lorick within 10 blocks on Callaway and Sequoia Avenues and I played slo-pitch softball for Lydell Mitchell's Bar, the "Point After" on Elgin Avenue!

It's GREAT to hear that Baltimore Colts are not totally forgotten by the NFL  :190048:

Just because the Colts and Ravens aren't "the same team" doesn't mean they don't share history as Baltimore's teams. I really hate the fact that when teams relocated, all the records and accomplishments won in the city get "moved" with the franchise. To me, the city in front of the team name is the more important one.

The Ravens are the Colts' truest successors, not that team in Indianapolis. And as someone who was unfortunately too young to have been around in the Baltimore Colts' days, I always enjoy learning more about the city's history, which the Ravens have thankfully embraced.

These are Baltimore Colt players and Baltimore records. These greats had nothing to do with that other city and they played for Baltimore and will always be greats of that era of Baltimore Colt football. I guess you have to be old enough to understand the difference and appreciate the true Colts football. Great to see them honored.
