[News] Baltimore Colts To Be Presented New Hall Of Fame Rings Sunday

This is where it all started for the Colts. This is where they should be. I only wish Johnny could be there as well! Baltimore is blessed to have another franchise of winners. Go Ravens.

"Moore, Berry and Marchetti are technically part of Indianapolis Colts history"

We have the Ravens now and at this point, I wouldn't have it any other way. But the loss of our history? That is unforgivable. Indy can wear our old team's jersey, but they can lay no claim to our old team's players and what they achieved.

That belongs forever in Baltimore.

I agree, johnmike72. I don't ever want to read, ever again, that these guys were associated with Indianapolis; unless Mink is trying to make me puke. Then again what does he know about our legendary history. I saw them play every year from the get go. I can still see Gino chasing down Tarkenton. Lenny running six yds. backwards into the end zone and Raymond dragging his toes inside the out of bounds mark. Precious memories never to be forgotten.

Baltimore Colts 1953-1983 (30 Years) 4 NFL championships!

Irsay Colts 1984-2014 (30 Years ) 1 NFL Championship...

Enough said!

Irsay should never have been allowed to take the team's identity and history with him to Indy. They should have started fresh in Indy as another team - like the Ravens did coming from Cleveland. We don't lay claim to any of the past Browns history, even though the same owner moved them here.

How messed up is re-writing history as though Indianapolis can ever claim the history of the Baltimore Colts? To lose our team was bad enough but it was a slap in the face to want to hi-jack our history. Welcome back home to get your rings Berry, Moore and Marchetti.

When you sneak out in the middle of the night (I used to work there) and the commish did nothing for us. Getting our name, etc. was not in the cards. Terrible time then but we have a great team and organization now. The man behind the sneak has passed. We are moving on to bigger and better things. Go Ravens.

The NFL will never allow this but we as a cadre of Baltimore Fans and natives should try to organize and have as many fans sport the Colts blue for this game as possible.

It was compounded by Washington trying to block a team coming to Baltimore because they thought it would hurt their revenue - and Rozzelle/Tagliabue in bed with them. Art Modell gave up a lot (and took a lot of grief) for moving the team here (God bless him). He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame! Short-sighted, bitter clowns still want to block his entry because of "what he did to Cleveland". Cleveland had a chance to keep them there, but refused to help build a new stadium, so Modell walked.

It always amazes me that the NFL allows the actual history to be reported wrong in their Hall of Fame. I do not believe Baltimore is the only city that has been screwed by the NFL and history, but I will never understand how they can allow inaccuracies to be listed as real facts. I would have thought they would want the truth at he Hall of Fame. The Baltimore Colts and their players should be honored correctly!

Fantastic news. Absolutely earned and long overdue. This poster actually saw them in action as a kid and what memories. They shall be cherished until the memories are no more.

Anybody here old enough to remember that "Coca-Cola" used to print the photos of the Baltimore Colts players on the bottle tops? I remember my cousin and I went to every business soda machine on our bikes with a magnet on a string to fish down the bottle opener slot and we pulled them up like mad. A kid's treasure. I still remember just about every player on the Colts roster and their jersey number to this day. Love the fact that some of our guys are coming back to BALTIMORE to get the HOF rings in the town in which they earned them.

You know, nothing can assuage the anguish of what happened in '83, but Jim Irsay could, with a few strokes of a pen, ask the league as the owner of the Colts to formally transfer all the records of the organization prior to '83 back to Baltimore and have them tied to the Ravens.

If the Browns could do it, I don't see why we couldn't. These are all made up rules anyway. Just numbers. But the history and experiences they represent mean a lot to Baltimore.

Until the Irsay family gives Baltimore the championships and Lombardi earned before 1983, I will always have serious ill-will torward their family. It is too late to retrieve the name and colors, so that is just history now.

I know I'm gonna get what might be a record number of thumbs down but I don't consider the colts a part of the Ravens legacy. They moved to Indianapolis and the Ravens are an entirely different team. We were the Browns. NOW we are the Ravens. Ok guys...hit me with your best shot.

Perhaps the Colts are not a part of the Ravens legacy but the Colts are a huge part of Baltimore football history. The rich tradition of football in Baltimore started with the Colts and the city was crushed to be without a team for so many years. So, I love both teams, each with their own history, legacies and identity, but both teams share a beloved, special place in the hearts of Baltimore football fans.

I love this news. All of them are deserving of their recognition for football in Baltimore. I remember going to Gino's often for a burger and hanging out at Gino's with friends at edge of Pasadena, MD as a teenager. Back then, we could get a burger, fries and Coke for 50 cents. lol Those were good old days.

This is about Baltimore's football heritage, not just about the Colts or the Ravens (or Stallions or Stars). The BALTIMORE Colts were the heart and soul of Baltimore football fans for over three decades. I was there for all of it. Sorry you missed it. I am an original Ravens PSL owner and am delighted that the Ravens appreciate and honor the link between Baltimore's football past and football present.

Maybe you're not old enough to understand, maybe you do not read the history of Baltimore football. Do you know former Colts players and fans are a major part of the reason we now have the Ravens? Many former Colts players refused to follow the Colts to Indianapolis, have you seen the Colts Ring of Honor in Indianapolis? Not one single former Colts football player from Baltimore is on that list because there are several Hall Of Famers from Baltimore who refused to take part in that. it is that type of loyalty for 13 years after the Colts left that helped us landed the Ravens. Baltimore trying to showcase the NFL for a team in 1992 sold out a pre-season game in a matter of hours which was pretty fast in 1992 as there were no high speed internet then, tickets mostly bought by former Colts fans in MD. halftime highlights? Around 70 former Baltimore Colts players showed up. The Ravens were never the Browns, that team name was left in Cleveland so there is no connection with Browns history. Want to know loyalty? Hall of Famers from Baltimore turning down money for appearances in Indianapolis, taking time to promote to bring football back in Baltimore. Hall of Famers from Baltimore gladly lend their time for the Ravens, something they would not do in Indianapolis, that speaks volumes. They are deserving to be included in the Ravens Ring of Honor, after all, they stuck with Baltimore all those years and we should be honored to pay them back by including them in our Ring Of Honor. The highest compliment we can honorably thank them for their services in Baltimore and for supporting the Ravens teams. Bisciotti, like me and countless Ravens fans, comes from the Colts days when we were younger, we never forgot nor should we ever forget. We should be grateful and honored for their loyalty to Baltimore.

We lost the Colts. The team went away but their heart and soul stayed with us. To say that their presence is not felt today means you weren't there on 33rd Street to see the greatest Quarterback of all time leading a great team. You who think that the Ravens got here on their own are too young to have lived through it. When the Ravens came to town, it took me half a season to stop saying "Colts".

So blessed to have spent my Sunday afternoons at Memorial Stadium watching these greats and then getting to watch my cousin who was a majorette in the Colts marching band. These were great days and this town truly had a love affair with this team. If one doesn't understand the importance of this team to the growth of the NFL just go to Amazon and look at all books on the Colts. The 1958 championship game was the catalysts that propelled the NFL into the homes of millions of television viewers to this day. These old Colts deserve all the accolades they can get.
