[News] Late For Work 10/7: Trade Speculation On WRs Roddy White, Golden Tate

93 posts in this topic

Damn we rank #29 in cap space this year with 3 million. Last year we ranked #10 with 6 million. The Jaguars are #1 with 33 million in cap space, but that also explains their lack of playmakers.

Tate could be a steal at that price. Just have to make a roster spot - why hasn't Babin been used yet??

He played about 6-7 snaps in the Steeler's game, and was double teamed most of the time..... I suspect a few of the sacks we got on Vick was because of this..... :)

Roddy White doesn't like to blippity blippity block?

Scratch him off the list.

Golden Tate? I dunno. I like what we have at this point. No need to throw a wrench into the chemistry these guys are trying to develop. We need team players...not "me" players.

Why is everyone still hyped on Roddy White? When was his last good season, like 3 years ago? Tate would be cool but we don't have the cap at the time which means we would have to let someone go. I also don't see it happening unless we just trade back the 4th and 5th round picks we got from them for giving them Ngata. I don't see the Ravens using a higher pick than a 3rd to get Tate. Good athlete, and I like the way he plays, but I am not sure if this is the time and place.

I doubt the Lions dump tate unless the trade bait is impressive (which it rarely is from ozzie who likes to keep his picks). White has a much better chance at a super bowl with the Falcons than Ravens so not sure why he would leave. If they did trade for white Imagine how disgruntled he would be if the Falcons continued to dominate and the Ravens fell out of playoff contention?

Our situation is tough at WR but I think the best course of action is to ride out the young guys. Let Waller start and see what he can do along with Aiken as full time starter. Mix in plenty of the young TEs and see what happens. Guys like givens, butler, brown ,brown can fill in the depth. Maybe add a cheap guy like welker or nicks ?

I think this is going to be a tough pill for people to swallow but its just a down year for a young team and maybe we need to experience some growing pains

Roddy White is not practicing today for the falcons( non injury related) wonder if something is in the works for a trade someplace or if its a disciplinary action.

i would take Tate over White all day long, wanted us to draft him out of ND he was a beast....Has a bit of SSS attitude as well....

I don't think White fits our Team. Playing like a Raven also means to do everything you can to win, even if you have to block the whole time. Complaining like a little girl that you want the ball isn't the right attitude. But Tate could be a nice add.

Its Week 5, there's no decent WRs we could afford. If there was a good WR with a low Cap number, what kind of idiot team would trade them for anything less than a Round 4 pick?

We don't need either one of these guys and/or their attitudes. They'd be a poison in the locker room. They already complain about stuff publicly, what would happen if either came here and they didn't like it any better? I say pass on them both, especially White. Bring up Butler.

Whoever lines up, Just get open and catch the ball!

As far as our rankings, to quote Yogi Berra, "It aint over til its over!"

the fo is finding out what it will cost them for certain receivers and depending on what happens this sunday as far as poor wr play or injuries than they will pull the trigger on a trade next week. hopefully the guys we have will step up but as some analysts have said without sss this looks like the worst wr group in the league. prove them wrong guys.

Ok so help me out with something here. Can Roddy White be a Raven or not?? Because if his salary can't be fit in, there probably is no sense to write about it. Let someone else speculate.

I'm just not understanding why you build a paragraph or post a headline about Roddy White, only to say in the next paragraph that it might not work because there isn't enough money. What are we writing about here?

I'll offer this up "If a trade were to happen, Roddy White would be a good fit for Baltimore. Unfortunately for the Ravens, there is no room in the salary cap."

Then if it actually happens, we can all be presently surprised

Alshon Jeffery would be a better fit than both of these Wrs in my opinion. He's younger and taller and entering his prime. Having Jeffery and Perrinan as our future Wrs will be a great idea. Now the problem is will the Bears willing to trade him and that we could afford to pay him next year. If Joe can extend his contract that will help because we got to still pay Tucker, K.O., and Yanda. Roddy White is getting to old and Tate is good but to short what we need is tall receivers. Alshon Jeffery and Perriman are 6'3 and 6'2 perfect for Joe big weapons.

Golden Tate would be PERFECT. He is only 27, and still has 4 years left on his contract. He is going to make around 6 mil a year, which if Steve Smith retires, it will just fill in his cap spot almost precisely. He is 5'10 and very fast, with good hands and most importantly, he gets separation. He would be a great Steve Smith heir for us, and he would finally give us a legitimate #2 WR next to Smith, which is critical if we want to have a playoff run.

If we can get Tate for like a 4th round pick or so, I say that's a steal. I wouldn't even be mad if it cost us a 3rd for him. We need a legitimate #2 WR if we want the passing game to start cookin'

Roddy White is washed and on the decline. I mean, I would rather take him over nothing, but for future purposes Golden Tate is the best option. If he truly is on the trading block, that is.

@RavenReck27 Golden Tate is good but I like Jeffery better though :-). I want tall receivers. I would Ming if they get him though. We need another young big weapon.

I think most of us kinda intuitively knew this, but Steve Smith confirmed it. There are WRs that are your prototypical 6'3" plus, north of 200lbs. Some of those guys pan out. But in football, you still need to have the "it" factor. Different people refer to it in different ways. Some call it simply "being a football player." Others say baller or beast. Some use the term "playing with reckless abandon." We call it 'Playing like a Raven.'

Whatever you call it, Golden Tate seems to have it. He plays angry. And when you're 5'10", you better play angry.

I like the Golden Tate option the most. I think he is better than white and contract wise it's a better move than Alshon. I'd like to see Ozzie make this happen.

1. Still haven't heard a responsible explanation for why the Lions would make Tate available and most importantly...

2. This is speculation, as is the Alshon Jeffery conversation, which I'm not even sure why we continue to have that one.

I think people need to lower their expectations significantly...

With probably 12 picks next year, I wouldn't mind if they got Tate for 4th rd pick, heck I wouldn't care if we gave them a 3rd for him.
