Lost's Big Board/Occasional Mock Draft

185 posts in this topic

Hey now, Likely is pretty good too. That's two guys who can play.

Likely is a Junior though. Doubt he declares early.

Craddock will probably be drafted, considering the dearth of good kicking in the NFL right now lol.

so who would we be passing up in this mock? im not sold that we are gonna be picking high enough for nkemdiche, i see him going top 3 and i just find it hard to believe we'll actually finish that poorly, im thinking were at 6th or 5th. are we passing up on ronnie stanley for him? because i could not see ozzie passing up a LT of his caliber for anything, if we were picking first overall i think he'd have a hard time taking bosa over stanley, just because he knows the importance of a cornerstone LT.

We could finish in the top 3 or top 15. Depends on whether the defense gets healthy/ shows up. Something I doubt. The NFL is an unpredictable organism. But based off the eye test, it's going to be a high pick unless for some reason we go god mode.

So this is where I will post my findings. So far, I have our needs ranked as (I have yet to see Will Davis in action. If he is good on the outside then I won't list corner. If he's not I'll make it number two. Have not gotten around to scouting the position thus far)

These are the people I have scouted thus far, and how I am ranking them.. If x player is not on the list, that means I have not gotten to him yet.

1. OLB/Edge Setter- Suggs leaving is a major loss. Not just in the pass rushing department. Granted, I think ZDS is a pretty good pass rusher. But I also think that he won't be able to set the edge asap.

People I like at this position are

  • Joey Bosa
  • Leonard Floyd
  • Emmanuel Ogbah
  • Shillique Callhoun
  • Yannick Ngakoue
  • Jordan Jenkins
2. Center-It appears that we are trying to run inside zone now for Trestman. Something Zuttah does not seem capable of doing. Not strong enough.
  • Max Turek
  • Dan Voltz
  • Nick Martin
  • Jack Allen
  • Mike Matthews
3. Wide Receiver- Perriman's floor is a number two. A good one. Something tells me Givens comes back and he's a #3... I think that we need to find either another number two, or a number one. This is an overrated class but it's pretty solid across the board.

  • Tyler Boyd
  • Laquon Treadwell
  • Micheal Thomas
  • Travin Dural
  • Demarcus Robinson
  • Pharoh Cooper
  • Sterling Shepard
4. Running Back-Forsett is a product of a good oline. We need another capable runner imo, as we are a run first offense. Taliefero is a good goal line guy, and Allen is a great third down back imo. Good hands and pass blocking ability while being a passable runner. But we lack that #1.
  • Ezekil Elliot
  • Derrick Henry
  • Devontae Booker
  • Aaron Green
  • DJ Foster
5. Middle Linebacker. CJ is not horrid in coverage. But he's not good either. He's very mediocre. Don't get me wrong. He's amazing at everything else. But we could use a coverage backer at some point in the draft.
  • Myles Jack(okay it's not really close here. Jack is easily the best coverage LB I have ever scouted)
  • Jaylon Smith
  • Scooby Wright III
  • Darron Lee
  • Reggie Ragland
My mocks will go in here. Obviously way too early for one. But I will upload at least my opinion per new prospect I come across from this point forward...

Hi. Just popping in to add 236 yards and 2 more TDs to Henry debate.

Bye.

:P

Still is all to dependent on an amazing oline.

You can't convince me dude. I don't like the guy. I have all of my top 5 last year(Gurley, Gordon, Johnson, Coleman, D.Johnson) ahead of him.

I like Corey Coleman but don't think he is a number one. That is all

Corey's effort comes into question at times. Sometimes he just takes himself on his plays and gives up on his routes. Other than that I would be fine with him. I like him in the 2nd or 3rd.

new board:

1. joey bosa

2. ronnie stanley

3. jalen ramsey

4. robert nkemdiche

5. vernon hargreaves

6. laquon treadwell

7. leonard floyd

8. jaylon smith

9. laremy tunsil

10. tyler boyd

this board is for the ravens specifically. if we are in the top 5 and we can find a trade suitor to get a first next year without leaving the top half, then i think it is by far the better option over any player listed.

Bosa

Stanley

Ramsey

VH3

Nkemdiche

Boyd

Doctson

Treadwell

Tunsil

In that order. And there will probably be a few QBs taken in the top 10. So trading back is a legit possibility. We might be able to get a top talent.

Have you watched much of Tyler Matakevich yet? I've been paying attention to him specifically the last couple of weeks and came away hugely impressed. Not exactly a thumper but the guy is just all over the field and always seems to be around the ball. The commentators were also talking about him being a film rat.

Seems like the perfect complement to Moseley.

I will use my Bill Murray zombie powers to convert you to one if you correct me again! Fine... You want to play it rough(phrasing)!

Jared Goff. That's right. I would rather draft Jared Goff over Derrick Henry at all,

Lol, at this point, I think you'd rather take Elam if he declares again. I just could not resist the opportunity.

Yes. I think Elam would be a better RB than Henry

I honestly don't understand why everyone has Stanley higher than Tunsil on the forums here. At worst I see them as on even ground.

I just see Stanley as having near flawless technique as a pass protector while Tunsil has some inconsistencies in that area.  I like both a ton, but I just happen to have Stanley rated higher.  There's still plenty of time to change my mind though and I'm looking forward to seeing Tunsil over the rest of the season.  I think I also might have more comfort with Stanley because there's so much more available from him.  I think whatever teams these two will both be very happy.

That's a pretty fair evaluation. But I am excited about the rest of the year to watch them both.

That's where I'm at. I like Tunsil, and he looked good against Garrett on his first game back (and should only get better), but I'm just that excited about watching Stanley play. His feet move that smoothly and I think he'd be a perfect fit for our OL. I also think a year or two in an NFL weights program will help him a lot with his power, so while it's definitely a flag it wouldn't put me off drafting him.

Temple guy? I saw him a bit as a guy I wanted to look at more. Really interested to see more of Jaylon Smith as well as a LB with the ability to cover would be great.

I gotta look into both more but I do like Tunsil quite a bit. He has looked good this year

Posted this in the 2016 Prospect watch thread, but I think it can go here, too, since I think it fits better here.

I wasn't a big fan of Leonard Floyd last year, but I had reserved judgement because I hadn't gotten to see too many Georgia games this year, and zero in full. I felt it was unfair to dish out judgement and thoughts without actually watching some current games, but my opinion is largely unchanged and that is that this board vastly overrates him.

The player that I immediately think of when I watch how he's used and when I just look at him is Dion Jordan. A long, lean player who is used at ROLB, LOLB, ILB, and even at SCB. He's got serious versatility, and that'll push him up boards, but he'll go higher than he should because of that. Honestly, he screams Patriots to me, but as a second round pick.

When I watch him as a run defender, I can only think that he'd be best served as a weak side defender when he's asked to run down the play from the backside, not play at the point of attack. I find his ability to stack and shed defenders pretty bad and when blockers get inside his pads, he's likely not getting out of their grasp. He often plays too high due to his height and just invites blockers into his pads and subsequently to take him out of the play.

As a pass rusher, same deal. He plays too upright and will get blocked out because once a defender gets his hands on him, he doesn't have a wide variety of moves, or even a real rip move, to disengage. He doesn't have a great swim move, club, and his spin move was hardly used. He won because he had amazing quickness and speed. I mean, the guy is really fast (no surprise when he's covering slot receivers), but speed will only get you so far. The few times I saw him effectively pressure the quarterback, he either beat his guy off the edge and just hardly got touched, or, more commonly, he faked outside, jumped inside, then swatted away the hands and found himself in a very quick line to the quarterback. No surprise, he was pretty effective on well set up loops where he could get inside very quickly and slip past the guard before they had a chance to react.

I didn't see someone with a good array of pass rushing moves and I saw someone who will struggle immensely to take on blockers at the point of the attack. He primarily won with speed and quickness. If the Ravens took him, they'd be in trouble because he's 6'3" and like 225-230. For comparison, Doom is 5'11 and 260. Terrell Suggs, who is the same height, is about 260, 265. It's not going to be easy to ask him to add, and keep on, 30-40 pounds of weight and keep his speed and explosion. If he were drafted to the Ravens, I'd see him as an ILB, but he'd probably struggle way too much taking on guards in the running game, but he'd probably be a fairly effective interior blitzed where he can use his quickness and speed to delay a blitz and slip past defenders before they have a true chance to engage.

I like Floyd. I really do. I like his burst. I don't see him as a first rounder or even better than Nassib for that matter. I do think he has a future in the NFL. That guy is just a football player. But I don't know where.
