Lost's Big Board/Occasional Mock Draft

Purely based on highlight tape (which is what it is), I see Zeke more as a Jack of all trades master of none where Henry might be a bit more of a bust/boom situation - but what a BOOM if everything works out for him.

Updated. Added MLBs. I do think they are a very underrated need. But the only one I'd take with as high of a pick as we got is honestly Jack. He's the size of a modern day NFL LB, is a freakish athlete(if he doesn't run a 4.3 fine. He plays around 4.4 speed). Excellent instincts in the run game, sound tackler.

I like Jaylon but Jack is honestly a jack of all trades pick for us. He'd be a hell of a running mate for Mosley and kills several birds with one stone.

A lot can change before this draft let alone next draft so it is hard to give a definitive answer but considering an injured Gurley went #10 overall, I think Fournette has a good shot to go top 5

I don't think we have a shot at him. I'm usually optimistic, but he's going to be a very high pick and make someone very happy. I certainly hope we don't have a shot at him.

are you suggesting we take myles jack with our original first round pick?

Depending on how high we finish I think it might be feasible to grab him with our second pick, or at least be in a position where trading up to get him would require a kings ransom

What would be wrong with that?

a monumental reach for a luxury that we cant afford with our first high pick in 8 or so years, while also passing up on much better and higher valued talents at positions that we desperately need to fill, for starters.

that would be fine with me, dudes a talent for sure, but hes by no means a top 10 talent, nor would i have any interest in investing a top 10 pick in another ILB while daryl is still playing at a decent level.

A monumental reach?!? Have you seen him play? Jack is an elite talent who can stuff the run well then cover WR's like he's a corner. He's also very good on blitzed. He makes plays from sideline to sidline with great athleticism and instincts. He is exactly what you want from an ILB in today's NFL. Is it because of his injuries? Then yeah that could be a concern but it hasn't affected other guys draft statuses recently and it's something we fans have no long-term knowledge of. And you say it's a luxury but since when has Ozzie cared that much about that? And besides if you haven't noticed Daryl Smith is 33 and Arthur Brown hasn't shown anything. Oh and Mosley struggles in coverage. Jack would have a great impact on the entire defense with his ability to cover the middle of the field.

And, you say we'd be passing up much better talents which is an interesting thought considering we don't even know where we're picking yet and who will be there. We're half a year away from the draft so much can change. Jack isn't my number one player in the draft or anything but he's a very good LB who could be special imo. Looking at him at this point in the season he could definitely pontentially be in play for us in the 1st.

Not to mention Jack defends screens well, appears to have a high football iq. Ucla can run a 5-2 defense because Jack does so much for the team.

Who gives a damn if it's not an immediate need. Jack is a beast and a very safe pick. He would do so much for the defense that it wouldn't be funny.

If Bosa, Floyd, Robert N, and Ramsey are all gone(Turnell is most certainly gone), then Jack is probably going to be the fit. He fits the defense like a glove.

if we are picking in the top 10 then jack is a reach lol. he is good but come on.. he is not a top 10 talent. either of the top 2 OTs, hargreaves, either of the top 2 WRs, are all better picks, plus the players you listed. we could trade back and get some serious picks stockpiled and still get jack, that dude wasnt going top 10 before he took the season off and now i think hes definitely not going, unless he kills the combine and teams get enamored by a 40 time. hes a trade back target, not a "stay put and pick in the top 10" guy. also, he isnt doing squat for this defense if teams throw the ball downfield 50 times a game with ease, no linebacker in the world could make an imact on this defense unless hes an OUTSIDE linebacker getting to the qb consistently, so unless were switching to a tampa 2 and drafting a MLB who can drop back and play like a FS as well, then we will struggle on defense.

Oh yes he is. A LB with freakish athletically ability that actually has a lot of skill to boot is extremely rare. Especially a COVERAGE LB. You could put Jack on WRs. He's that fast. Now will he go in the top ten? Depends. At the moment he's on the border according to most scouts. In my eyes he is because a player with his kind of ability is a massive rarity. He is a top ten talent. So was CJ Mosley btw. He didn't go there because other teams took positions of need.

And btw. A LB that plays at a 4.4-4.5 speed? I'm pretty sure he can put pressure on the QB if you really wanted him to. In fact, UCLA has done that at times. It's just that he's so good in coverage that he's primarily in this. Yeah. Top ten talent. Easily. He may not fit an immediate need. But Daryl is likely gone, and CJ is amazing at everything except for coverage. It's more of a need than we think.

So yes. I think he's a top ten talent.

And btw. Ozzie doesn't give a damn about need. It's why I like the guy. Sure, this wouldn't fill an immediate need but this is the year of the edge rusher. You can get a quality one in rounds two or three. And I doubt we're in contention for Ramsey, and want to give Brooks the chance to develop.

So yes. I would enjoy Jack. I have watched most of his games, and watched almost every snap of his career on both sides of the ball. I would take him in the top ten because he can fill multiple things at once and actually does make our defense better.

I don't think we'll draft him but would be damn happy if we did. He's a hell of a player and fits the defense like a glove.

well ill just respectfully disagree, and its not about need vs BPA to me, i feel like if were picking in the top 10, then the other talent available will be superior. and i dont think for one second that oz would pass on ramsey because he has faith in brooks, hes not gonna miss out on a generational talent at FS because he think that the 3rd round safety from 3 drafts prior may eventually come along. people thought he was gonna do the same with arthur brown but oz went ahead and decided to replace him with a superior player anyway,

also, at FS its more than a need for this team, its more like lost tradition. this team had elite play at safety since 2000, and now our safety play is so bad that it almost feels disrespectful, and when we get a chance, we pounce on the kinds of players that we feel can come in here and change the culture and restore some lost excellence. i think ramsey would be tha kind of guy.

Honestly, imo Daryl isn't even great in coverage. Decent maybe.

Honestly, I think Myles Jack goes to the Niners. It's a connection that makes too much sense to me.

With that said, you may want to take this with a grain of salt, I have Jack in my top ten players for the draft next year as of this moment. He's a special player in my eyes. He can do a lot for your team and he's got a good personality. I haven't seen anything morally or ethically bad about him. Others already said how effective he is in coverage, and while I think some slightly exaggerate saying he's as good covering as a CB, I think his coverages skills are beyond exceptional for a LB.

I'd take him, depending on who is there.

Well he did start a fight in one practice but in the heat of the moment a lot can go down.

Nah. I think he can cover WRs at the NFL level effectively but not good enough to do a full time switch to CBs. His instincts there especially for a LB are damn good. He'd take out the TE easily.

I could see it. Honestly, Leonard Floyd and Yanick N are tailor made for this defense.

I see our draft as this right now.

1. Robert Nkemdiche. While many here would HATE this pick, after Bosa he's the clear cut best defensive player in the draft and is a VERY rare talent. I understand we have Davis and Jernigan, but even then we play a heavy rotation. And I honestly think that while Davis is good enough to start on many teams, he'd be better as a rotational player. Also, he'd be able to come in on third down for Williams, as he's not much of a pass rusher, and with this rotation we'd get amazing interior pressure.

I don't care if it's not a need. You take the defensive player that you think changes the unit if you pick that high.

2. Yannick Ngakoue. How in god's name do you have a name like this and not be succesful. That aside, he plays with a hell of a motor and has straight up dominated the likes of Andrus Peat(NFL player), Brandon Scherref(NFL Player), and Jack Connick(IDK if that's how you spell it. Future NFL player), He knows how to use his hands and with a burst and motor appears to get into the backfield with relative ease. He needs to improve as a run defender, but he's not bad in that department. Honestly I could see the guy rise. But he's tailor made for our edge rusher position.

3. Karl Joseph. Safety isn't as big of a need as everyone thinks. So let's get this sraight, Karl Joseph is a tiny man. He's smaller than I am. 5'10, 200 pounds. You might be thinking he's Elam 2.0.

Nope. He can play. He's not amazing vs the run, but lets face it. We don't give up too many long rushing Tds to begin with. Our run defenses are usually pretty stout. But he can cover, and he's got good hands. And he's proobably fall due to his injury. I don't think he's special, but with improvements to the pass rush, he doesn't need to be. Ngakoue and Nkmediche(I actually hope we don't draft these two for spelling purposes. God it's a nightmare) in my scenrio, combined with Doom and ZDS at some points. Oh, lives for opposing QBs will suddenly be turned into living hells. Making the job of Jimmy, WIll and Co much easier. And with Joseph who reads the QB's eyes pretty well and has good hands and coverage skills, I like our odds.

4(normal). Aaron Green RB.

I am very high on Aaron Green. He's a trestman back who's twitchy. He's a shifty little runner who makes good cuts, has good vision, has good hands, and is very good in pass pro(so system back :P). But nothing about him is particuarly elite. Which is fine. A good running back can look great when you a great offensive line ahead of him. Aaron Green is a little bit better than good in my eyes, ten years ago he would have been a second rounder,

4(comp) Sterling Shepard

A small little route runner who seems to take punishment and turn it into explosive plays down field with great hands to boot. Capable of playing either the outside or slot WR positions. He can turn a ten yard slant to a 30 yard gain. He may be tiny, but he's a weapon.

That's how I would do it

I was actually thinking to myself that Oz could draft one of the three first-round ILBs this draft and it wouldn't even shock me. It would probably disappoint the hell out of me if there was a DB, WR, Edge, or LT I wanted, but I could see it, especially if we're in the late teens and Oz homer's Ragland (which would really disappoint me).

/Although if you consider Scoob an ILB, that wouldn't be bad in the late teens either. I see him as an OLB though.

I really like Yannick Ngakoue and I think he's arguably the best defensive player on the Terps. I'd be happy with him. Not sure what round he goes, although second seems a little high atm

Being the best player on the Terps isn't that hard atm.

Sadly, it's certainly not. I do think he's pretty talented, though. I don't think he's worth a second round pick, however; more of a third or even fourth.

not worth a second but more than a third... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vgk-lA12FBk

Oh I know how good he is. I go to College Park. I've watched a lot of our games. It's just that I think his stock value won't be high due to Maryland having just a bad program atm.

If he kills the combine and puts up numbers, I do think his value will increase.

so who would we be passing up in this mock? im not sold that we are gonna be picking high enough for nkemdiche, i see him going top 3 and i just find it hard to believe we'll actually finish that poorly, im thinking were at 6th or 5th. are we passing up on ronnie stanley for him? because i could not see ozzie passing up a LT of his caliber for anything, if we were picking first overall i think he'd have a hard time taking bosa over stanley, just because he knows the importance of a cornerstone LT.

couldn't agree more. Ed reed was the glue that held the defense together. If we get the chance to find that staple for our secondary we should pounce and not even think twice. Brooks is not the answer. Edited by January J
